This is not the right time to start a slump. The Twins beat the Jays, 8-1. Triston Casas homered for the only Toronto run. WP - Michael Pineda (14-9) LP - Nathan Eovaldi (7-6) Record - 91-64 The Twins are now tied with the Jays but they also lead their division, so it is the White Sox that are a game back.

WP - Kenta Maeda (13-10) Save - Tyler Duffey (5) LP - Blake Snell (3-8) Record - 91-65 The Jays are now tied with the White Sox for the two Wild Card spots. It wasn't that long ago that the #1 spot seemed to be a lock. Six games left.

This game was a dog-fight but in the end the Yankees beat the Blue Jays 11-8. That is Toronto's 5th straight loss. WP - Justin Wilson (3-2) Save - Chad Green (10) LP - Patrick Murphy (4-3) Record - 91-66 The Jays are now the 2nd Wild Card. They can't lose that spot, but they haven't given up on the 1st spot - or the division, for that matter, but it is getting awfully close. Their Tragic Number is 1.

The Jays signed Danny De La Calle back in July. Well now he has decided to hang up the cleats.
He was a Cuban player who played 18 games in the Australian Baseball League before the Jays gave him a shot. I guess he didn't enjoy playing in the U.S.

The good news: Blake Snell led the Blue Jays to a 7-2 win over the Orioles. The bad news: Giancarlo Stanton left the game with pain in his shoulder. His availability for the Wild Card game is in question. Stanton and Kyle Schwarber homered for Toronto. WP - Blake Snell (4-8) LP - John Means (8-15) Record - 93-67 The Jays and White Sox are now tied.

The penultimate game of the regular season did not go well and the Jays lost, 6-2, to the Orioles. Triston Casas homered for Toronto. WP - Jose Lopez (7-3) LP - Nathan Eovaldi (7-7) Record - 93-68 The Jays trail the White Sox by one game for the first Wild Card seed. I think they are now guaranteed to play the Wild Card game in Chicago.

Anthony Swarzak announced his retirement. He played in the Majors for parts of 11 years for 9 different teams, though he will be remembered as a Twin.
He signed a minor league contract with the Jays back in July but couldn't get above AA.

Batting Titles
Xander Bogaerts, Red Sox - .323 Andrew Stevenson, Rockies - .341 Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. were 4th and 6th, respectively. The Wild Card game in Chicago looms. Giancarlo Stanton is back at 100%, just in time. The White Sox took 4 of 7 games during the regular season, but the Jays' starter (Blake Snell) has the edge over theirs (Lance Lynn). Toronto was first in Runs Scored in the AL. The White Sox were sixth. Chicago was 3rd in Runs Against. The Jays were fifth. The White Sox had a killer Home Win Percentage, with .719. This is going to be tight, but I think the Jays can do it.
