GG by Toronto. They answered the Dubs everytime they got it to 4. They never let GS get on one of their famous runs. Siakim was other worldy. van Fleet evidently made a deal w/the devil @ the xrds. And it was key Danny Green found his shot so that he could stay in for his defense. I wonder why Bell is getting the starting nod over Looney? Warriors also need to cut the to's in half.

If Iguodala's injury is serious, Warriors mediocre D takes a major blow as Draymond can't guard everyone.

"After the game, Bird told the Boston Globe's Dan Shaughnessy, "I'm saving my right hand for the Lakers."" - CLNS article remembering Bird's left-handed game... "The Celtics had enough lazy nights throughout the year, that if they had concentrated fully and set 70 wins as something that mattered to them, they would have won 70-72 games. They would have won at least 70, and then, who knows? They had some giveaway nights, especially in the first half of the season." - longtime Boston sportswriter Bob Ryan "During the regular season, the 1985-86 Celtics cruised... there’s no doubt that their main goal was winning the Finals, not winning games in the regular season... It’s not uncommon for great teams to think like that. That’s why LeBron James‘ teams don’t always finish on top of the East or why Gregg Popovich rests his starters in the middle of the season. Teams who’ve been to the top and know what it takes don’t have to fight every game in the regular season..." - Hardwood Houdini article on the '86 Celtics and other all-time great teams "Simply put, the Celtics were the best team in the league, and they knew it. “They took the floor in every game that year thinking, ‘We are better,’ ” the Boston Herald’s Steve Bulpett told NESN.com. “I remember talking to McHale about this. He said, ‘Look, we just know we’re better at this many positions. Three and sometimes four positions a night, you can guarantee it.’ They just felt they were going to win games.” “That Celtics team could control every game it played,” Walton added at the Celtics’ reunion event. “We lost 15 games that year, all to the worst teams in the league. It was a traveling circus.”" - NESN article about the '86 Celtics So I guess we won't have to discuss this ridiculous topic again... and we know exactly who would be laughed out of the room... |

Guess not. Thanks for the infos.
Edit: Best to enjoy those years where it all comes together for your team so brilliantly as who knows when, it would be 22 years for Boston fans, that will ever happen again. And, who would have thought after the '86 season that amazing collection of Celtics talent was done winning titles.

During their 5 year run in the NBA Finals, this is the first time Golden State has played a good defensive team.
2015: Cleveland (18th) 2016: Cleveland (10th) 2017: Cleveland (21st) 2018: Cleveland (29th) 2019: Toronto (5th) When the Warriors were world beaters, they were strong on both sides of the ball finishing 1st, 6th, and 2nd on D in their first 3 final appearances and seasons in which Golden State won 67, 73, and 67. Last year they tumbled to 11th on D, 58 wins, and finished 7 games behind the NBA's best team, Houston. This year has seen further slippage, 13th on D, and 57 wins. I wouldn't be surprised at all if this was the last Finals appearance for this particular dynasty.

it also helps that the league changed a lot because of the warriors, pace and space has been adopted by a lot of the teams in the league so defenders know how to play it

I'm pretty sure he'd play with just 1 leg anyways.

It's looking more and more as though Kevin Durant has played his last game for the Warriors. I expect Toronto will continue to expose Golden State's defensive deficiencies tonight and for the remainder of the series. Would not be surprised at all to see the Raptors take home the trophy in 5 games.

If not for the lopsided nature of the calls, the Raptors would be blowing the Warriors off the court. As is, they're still up 10.

Warriors in crush mode outscoring the Raptors 14-0 to start the third quarter.
Edit: 16-0. 18-0.

Warriors hold the Raptors to 45 second half points and take control of the series. Kawhi's teammates, not looking at you Van Vleet, need to show up in game 3.

Very ugly 4th quarter. Raptors went with a box and one on Curry and still could not hit baskets.
Klay was the best player on the Warriors tonight but when down with a leg/groin injury. I hope he is back by game 3. Cousins looks competent out there tonight. He looked gassed by the 4th quarter but will work his way back into fitness. Iggy still looked injured. Looney was also lost for the game. Curry looked like he was ill before the game and in the first half and maybe had to get an IV or electrolytes at half time. Golden State training staff will be very busy before game three. |

Truth be known. Probably everyone on the Raptors and Warriors has at least a mild injury or wear and tear with some soreness. I was curious that they started Cousins. But they ended up needing him. I would also not be shocked if Durant leaves the Warriors can talk him into something like a 2 year, 40 million dollar deal with a third year team option. He missed a huge payday last summer and partially missed another one this season due to his hamstring tear. Some team might try and throw stupid money at him. But if not, I would suspect the Warriors if they have some cap space from Durant leaving would offer him another sweet short term deal to show himself off before finally getting the big payday he deserves. I know he has a reputation, but when healthy he is a hell of a skilled big man on the offensive end of the court. Last edited by rudel.dietrich; 06-04-2019 at 04:14 AM. |
