SD Padres 2 NY METS 1 Citi Field Freddie Freeman is thrown out at home in the 9th as the Padres take the first game from us. Chris Sale pitches a gem, but he is outmatched by SD Clayton Richard. (AI CHEATS!) The Mets left 10 men on base, Buster Posey had two hits tonight and Charlie Blackmon hits his 6th HR of the year. But Padres pitching keeps us from scoring and no matter what we tried to do, we lose this game. (AI CHEATS!!)

SD Padres 1 NY METS 7 Citi Field The Mets get some payback for yesterday. Corey Kluber goes 6 and gives up a run on 5 hits. He had 9 strikeouts. Carlos Correa was the man of the hour as he went 3-4 with an RBI. Giancarlo Stanton hit his 23rd HR of the year and Bryce Harper reached 30 for the season. It will be up to Syndergaard tomorrow to win this series.

SD Padres 2 NY METS 6 Citi Field Thor was dialed in as the Mets take the series over the Padres. Noah Syndergaard went 7.2 and gave up 2 runs on 4 hits. The bullpen closed the rest of the game out. Bryce Harper and Buster Posey had 2 hits each today on a gorgeous day for baseball in the Big Apple.

Series Preview: PIT Pirates @ PNC Park (4-Games)
We have a set of four games coming up versus the Bucs near the Three Rivers. Throughout the history of this little rivalry, the Mets and the Pirates always play some crazy games. Josh Bell and Josh Harrison are the guys to watch at the plate. Kershaw, Strasburg, Sale and Kluber get the calls for the weekend.

NY METS 3 PIT Pirates 4 PNC Park (10 Innings) Another one-run loss as PIT Corey Dickerson hits a walk-off in the 10th to give the Pirates the win in extras. Clayton Kershaw had a bitter night, going 5 innings and giving up 2 runs on 4 hits. Maybe I took him out too early, because Max Scherzer gave up the tying run and Luis Severino the winning run. Giancarlo Stanton and Daniel Murphy had 2 hits tonight, but we come up short in the first of four here in the Steel City. We left 8 men on base too. We are now 8-14 in one-run games and 4-5 in extras. Should I be worried? (AI CHEATS!)

IRL Cole Hamels was just traded to the CHI Cubs today.
I submit to you a trade that was made in my season report only a couple of weeks ago. I said the OOTP AI CHEATS and I just proved it. HOW did OOTP know that Cole Hamels was going to the Cubs?

NY METS 12 PIT Pirates 2 PNC Park The Mets crush the Pirates as payback for yesterday. Stephen Strasburg strikes out 10 in 6 innings, while only giving up 2 runs on 8 hits. The Mets went deep tonight! HRs: Francisco Lindor 2 (9,10), Bryce Harper 2 (31,32), Jose Altuve (15) and Giancarlo Stanton (24). Nolan Arenado and Lindor had 3 hits tonight in the rout. We needed this win after a bad loss last night.

NY METS 6 PIT Pirates 0 PNC Park Chris Sale has gotten the least amount of run support this season. But the Mets give him 6 runs and he only would have needed 1. He went 7 innings and gave up only 1 hit. He had a no-hitter thru 6 but PIT Josh Harrison broke it up in the 7th. Mike Trout went 3-5, Carlos Correa hit his 12th HR of the year and Daniel Murphy reached base all 4 times. It will be up to Corey Kluber for us to win the series tomorrow.

MLB Trade:
The trade is not about Yandy Diaz going to MIA, but Kyle Barraclough going to CLE! He has 23 saves this year for the Marlins, so CLE just picked up a strong reliever for the 2018 Pennant Chase!

NY METS 3 PIT Pirates 1 PNC Park Corey Kluber goes 6 and gives up a run on 4 hits. The bullpen closes the game out and Aroldis Chapman gets his 13th save. A close game here in PNC Park. Jose Altuve went 3-5 with a run scored. We take the series 3-1 over PIT and now prepare for the Nationals.

This Week in Baseball---NY METS
The Trade Deadline is 2 days away and yes, I will be making a couple of forced trades.
Still makes me worry that the Mets are 8-14 in 1-run games. This team of superstars actually has a losing record when the games are close. (AI CHEATS!) Yet, according to the Pthyg. Record, the Mets are actually 5 wins behind what we should have. Really?

This Week in Baseball---MLB
Lets see what is happening:
ALE: A 4-game winning streak has put the Blue Jays right behind the Red Sox again by 2.5 games. ALC: MIN and CLE will be hounding each other the rest of the way. ALW: Still very tight in this division as the Angels, Rangers, Astros and Athletics stay close to each other. NLE: The NYM still lead! NLC: The Cubs are still in control, but a 7-game winning streak by the Brewers has put them back into contention. NLW: Its still all about the LAD, SD and ARZ in this division.

The Mets have the day off today, but since the trade deadline is tomorrow, I decided to make my moves now. Francisco Lindor has done a marvelous job at SS, but I sent him to the LAD for Corey Seager, who is just tearing up the baseball. Nolan Arenado has been a huge disappointment, even though he is the better defensive 3B, I sent him to TOR for Josh Donaldson, who is sending lots of souvenirs into the stands. I did want to make a pitching move. I was thinking of going to a 4-man bench and adding another reliever into the pen, but I decided to stand pat there. The AI still cheats, so I am cheating the AI with a couple of big forced trades. Lets Go Mets!!!
