Trash can game.
Ron Darling didn't have it today and PHI Shane Rawley did, as the PHI Phillies down the NY Mets 8-1 @ Shea Stadium.

I don't know what planet Rick Aguilera was on today, but it wasn't Earth, as he pitched a gem of a game en route to a NY Mets win over the PHI Phillies 4-2 @ Shea Stadium.
Aguilera gives up 2 runs on 3 hits while striking out 8 to get his 10th win of the season.
Roger McDowell collects his 19th save on the year.
"The Straw" hits his 27 HR of the season, and Wally Backman goes 2 for 3 in today's game.
Next up: A 3-game series against the STL Cardinals @ Busch Stadium and Shea Stadium

RP: 98-50
RL: 97-52 (1-7 Loss vs PHI) +1.5

This Week in Baseball--1986

With the NL East championship already clinched, the 1986 NY Mets are just coasting along and waiting for the NLCS to start against the HOU Astros.
HOU clinched the NL West earlier in the week.
The only Pennant Chases that are still interesting are in the American League.
TOR, DET and the NYY are still close to each other, but time is running out.
Do you think the fans in Anaheim are getting a little nervous as suddenly, the CAL Angels are not playing very well, while the KC Royals are making a late push?
Two weeks left in the 1986 regular season!

9/22 Game 1

Dr. K was in the zone today, as he goes the distance, strikes out 4 and shuts out the STL Cardinals in the 1st game of a doubleheader 3-0 @ Busch Stadium.
Wally Backman was 3 for 4 today as once again he has the hot bat!
Funny thing is, the way OOTP scheduled this game, both teams have to get on a very fast plane because the 2nd game is at Shea Stadium.

9/22 Game 2

Dr. K was awesome in game one, El Sid was awesome in game two, as the NY Mets shutout the STL Cardinals in the 2nd game as well 1-0 @ Shea Stadium.
Sid Fernandez gives up only 3 hits and strikes out 6 batters to get his 19th win of the season.
Roger McDowell gets save number 20.
Keith Hernandez got the lone RBI for the Mets in this one.
We have reached the century mark for the year...100 wins!

The NY Mets will not be denied as they sweep the STL Cardinals with a 5-4 comeback win @ Shea Stadium.
Bobby O didn't have his best stuff, but he pitched well enough to get his 14th win of the season.
Jesse Orosco and Roger McDowell combined to close the game out.
The lineup saved the Mets tonight as Wally Backman went 4 for 5 with a BIG RBI in tonight's game.
Next up: A 2-game series against the CHI Cubs @ Wrigley Field.

The NY Mets again have a comeback win, as they get past the CHI Cubs 9-5 @ Wrigley Field.
Ron Darling started out strong but couldn't finish the game as he gave up 5 runs in 6 innings.
Rick Anderson picked up his 3rd win on the year.
Strawberry, Dykstra and Mitchell had 2 hits each today, with Strawberry (28) and Mitchell (17) belting HRs as well.
Keith Hernandez had a big double that brought in a couple of RBIs for him in the 9th inning to put the game away for the Mets.

The NY Mets do it again behind the arm of Rick Aguilera, as he gets the win in a 5-4 victory over the CHI Cubs @ Wrigley Field.
Aguilera gives up 2 runs on 5 hits as he continues to stay hot late in the season.
The Mets had some HRs today by Hernandez (9), Mitchell (19), and Strawberry (29).
"The Straw" and "The Kid" both had 3 hits in today's game.
Next up: A 3-game series against the PIT Pirates @ Three Rivers Stadium.

Sometimes you just get one of those games as the PIT Pirates win it over Dr. K and the NY Mets 8-2 @ Three Rivers Stadium.
Gooden didn't have it today and 3 errors really put the Mets behind the 8 ball in this one.
Mookie Wilson went 3 for 4 in tonight's contest.

Good game to watch as El Sid becomes the NY Mets' 2nd 20-game winner of the season, as they outlast the PIT Pirates 10-6 @ Three Rivers.
Fernandez gives up 4 earned runs in 6 innings, but remains the pitcher of record as the Mets lineup did what it could to give him his 20th win.
Keith Hernandez was the main man today, as he went 2 for 4 with 4 RBIs.
Backman and Strawberry had two hits each as well.
Gary Carter also had a couple of RBIs to his credit.
Rubber game of this 3-game set is tomorrow.

THE TORONTO BLUE JAYS!!!

This team was darn good all year long.
If the NYM have to face this team in the World Series, this will be a tough one.

Well, I'm disappointed in these Red Sox who...uhm...stunk.

Still, any MLB dynasty where the Yankees lose is a dynasty worth celebrating!

Bobby O has a no-hitter thru 7 innings, until PIT Bill Almon broke it up with a 2-run HR in the 8th.
But that didn't matter, as the NY Mets went on to win the game 5-2 @ Three Rivers.
Ojeda followed up a bad outing last time with some masterful pitching this time, as he gave up only 2 runs on 2 hits while striking out 7!
Lenny Dykstra belted his 12th HR of the season in this one.
The Mets have a day off tomorrow.
Next up: A 3-game series against the MTL Expos @ Olympic Stadium.

This Week in Baseball--1986

The NY Mets have played some great ball in September, going 20-6 for the month.
They are just gearing up for the NLCS against the HOU Astros starting very soon.
The 1986 Pennant Chase is pretty much decided as the NY Mets, HOU Astros and TOR Blue Jays have already won their divisions.
The CAL Angels magic number is 2, but they have a key series with the KC Royals starting tomorrow.
However, i do believe the Angels will win the the AL West in a couple of days.

Ron Darling gives up 3 runs over 8 innings, but it was enough for the win as the NY Mets beat the MTL Expos 8-3 @ Olympic Stadium.
Darryl Strawberry (30) and Gary Carter (19) went deep for the Mets tonight, while Ray Knight was 3 for 5 at the plate.
A good win over the closest team in the division from us.

1986 American League West Division Champions!!!

THE CALIFORNIA ANGELS!!!

The CAL Angels clinch the AL West!
Will this ALCS against the TOR Blue Jays be different from the historical ALCS against the BOS Red Sox?

All four division champions have been crowned!
The 1986 Pennant Chase is OVER!!!

The 86 Mets were always a team of destiny in my mind. I get the same feeling watching you manage them from beginning to end. It looks like you're well on your way to duplicating the Mets feet of a World Championship. Lets go Mets!

Another one of those crazy games, but the NY Mets get an 11-8 win over the MTL Expos @ Stade Olympique.
Rick Aguilera, really was not on top of his game today, as he gave up 5 runs on 7 hits.
But the Mets lineup was ready to play, as every Mets batter had a single or better.
Hernandez and Wilson both went 4 for 5 today, and Carter had 3 RBIs.
Strawberry had a big triple in the game.
Rick Anderson got his 4th win of the year, while McDowell picked up his 24th save.
