NEWS/NOTES
Former Iron Pig #1 Roberto Martinez, 2021 Koufax winner, is off to a career best start for 1st place Buffalo.

In New Orleans, the Voodoo might actually compete for the 1st time in their young history. Ishida is on a 71 homer pace, leading the Coastal League and Hooks 1B Earl Shaw by 2. It's also the first time the feat has been accomplished by a New Orleans player.

Morin signs the monster contract last week, out for a month this week.

Joao Carnaxide is a very good catching prospect. Above average on D, very good bat. Hit .256/.302/.341 in 105 games last year. Legit backup at 25.

I then turned around and moved AAA C prospect Albert Coleman, good D decent bat, to Baltimore for power RH reliever Roberto Morales. I'll put him on the 40 man, recall him and designate Jonasz Plazewski for assignment.

Potential name changes?

The teams have applied for and been giving permission by the league, to change their team names.

Both New Hampshire, and Sacramento, as well as West Michigan, have all applied. New Hampshire and Sacramento are both changing for sure, West Michigan is on the fence.

I mention this here because I need help coming up with some cool names, fitting names, for all 3 before the 2028 season.

2027 week 9

2027 WEEK 9
RECORD: 3-4
OVERALL: 32-23 +2.5
RUNS SCORED: 282 (34) 10th
RUNS AGAINST: 230 (31) 2nd
OWNER/FANS: Good 50/100
SCHEDULE: 3 @ Staten Island/3 vs New York/1 vs Hawaii

5/24
ALK 11 SI 3
W-Buckley (5-3) L-Roy (2-5)
HR ALK-Young (2) Covington (5) Adams (2)
11 runs on 17 hits back Buckley's 7-5-2-2-0-5 win. Michael Young leads off with a 3-6, and a homer, stolen base (13) scores 2 and drives in 2 (21). Dave Adams 2-4 with a double (5) 1st inning 3 run homer and Tim Harvey snapped out of a mini slump going 3-5 with a double (3).

5/25
SI 7 ALK 0
W-Naif (3-7) L-Solis (1-6)
HR SI-Crowder (2) Vigouroux (2)
Kasib Naif carries a 3 hit shutout into the 9th before tiring, going 8.1-3-0-0-2-3 as Jesus Solis drops to 1-6 5.68 on the year. Cedric Vigouroux went 3-5 with a triple (3) homer and 3 runs and Benton Crowder drove in 3 (8).

ROSTER NEWS-32 year old Jesus Solis was informed, after the loss, that he was being sent to AAA Eagan to 'clear his head'. With the IBL's rule change taking away a players right to refuse, he knew there was nothing he could do, and actually seemed relieved at the option. Recently acquired P Jorge German will get first crack at the spot, with 24 year old David Rogers struggling (ERA over 6). Mike Bowman needs a bit more time, but he's close.

5/26
SI 7 ALK 1
W-Duarte (1-0) L-Hall (5-6) S-Mendoza (1)
HR SI-Garcia 2 (10) Cox (5)
Tony Duarte (5.2-4-0-0-1-4) and Guillermo Mendoza (3.1-4-1-1-0-3) carry a shutout into the 9th before a 2 out run breaks it up. Stan Hall was victimized, again, by the long ball. Giving up 3 in 6.2 innings for 7 runs on 8 hits. He walked 1 and struck out 10. His career high for HR's in a season is 25, right now he's on pace to give up 44! Yankee catcher Thomas Garcia went 2-4 with 2 homers, driving in 3 (28).

5/27
ALK 13 NY 5
W-Drake (6-2) L-McCormick (5-5)
HR ALK-Covington (6) Vargas (5)
Drake takes a no-hitter into the 7th, ending up with a 7-2-2-2-1-4 day as the offense pounds out 19 hits and scores 13 times off 5 Knight pitchers after SP Whit McCormick left, hurt, just 2 hitters into the game. Alex Covington went 4-5 with a double (6) homer, scored 3 and drove in 2 (17), Antonio Vargas was 3-5 with a homer and 3 RBI's (13) and Tim Harvey went 3-5 with a double (4) and a stolen base (5).

NEWS-Talk about realism? How about this news item....This is the Black Sox 6th year, and they've never won more than 64 games. With young Robinson Cano hitting leadoff (with 15 bombs) and former rookie of the year Jung-jun Pak, as well as Hollis Proctor (.316) their offense is definitely trending up, with Manny hitting cleanup it's elite, or are they? They're 4.5 behind 1st place West Michigan.

5/28
ALK 7 NY 1
W-Hernandez (8-1) L-Perez (2-3)
HR ALK-Gonzalez (10) Vaughn (6) Vargas (6) Ibarbia (5)
2nd start in a row the SP goes 7+ with 2 hits, this time Hernandez goes 8-2-1-1-4-7 to go 8-1 2.85 on the year. Garcia, leading off, goes 3-4 with a double (4) and a stolen base (6) Gonzalez and Ibarbia hit 2 run homers and Kevin Vaughn goes 2-4 with a homer and scores twice.

5/29
NY 5 ALK 0
W-Romano (8-4) L-Buckley (5-4)
HR NONE
Jesus Romano wins his 192nd career game by taking a shutout into the 9th before tiring. He gave up 7 hits and struck out 7 in 8 1/3rd innings to beat Gerald Buckley who went 8.1-7-3-3-0-5.

INJURY NEWS-What a day for pitchers....Not sure how Butler is 1-7, his peripherals are outstanding, 75.2 IP, 59 hits, 48 K's 30 BB's. Not that it matters, he's down for a year or more now.

5/30
HAW 3 ALK 2
W-Castillo (6-3) L-German (1-1) S-Castro (3)
HR HAW-Dwyer (10)
Vincente Castillo goes 8-4-2-1-3-3 to beat Jorge German, making his first start for us, who went 8-9-3-3-2-3 in the loss. Offense stayed cold, managing just 4 hits.

WEEK 9 SUMMARY
FL POTW-Sergio Gomez (MICH) 11-23 2 HR's 8 RBI's (.302-13-43)
CL POTW-Ed Adronyk (SAC) 12-29 5 HR's 16 RBI's (.294-13-41)

POWER RANKINGS
1) Boston (1)
2) Chicago (2)
3) El Paso (-)
4) Columbus (3)
5) Houston (-)
OUT Alaska (10) West Michigan (7)

NEWS/NOTES
Miranda being out could be an issue with the River Cats up just 1.5 games on Fresno.

Wow, what a start for the 25 year old Gomez. He was 11-10 5.39 in 27 starts last year, nothing real good numbers wise, but what a start this year. He was the Roughriders 4th round pick out of U. of Georgia in 2022 (121st overall).

Baltimore reaches out and gets Altagracia to agree to a 1 year 4.07M dollar deal. 13th in OBP 14th in AVG, and 6 out and falling fast.

If things continue on their current path, Paco is the future SS of this franchise. Just 21 he's already an elite defender. This will be his 2nd year in AAA, 1st full season. He was signed out of the Dominican by San Jose in 2022, and I traded for him in May of 2025, dealing C Dave Nicholson (who's since moved on to Vegas) and 1st and 3rd rounders.

For a team already battling injuries and a nightmare season, Powell getting hurt kills the Rattlers.

SCHEDULE: 3 vs Hawaii/Off Day/3 @ Edmonton

5/31
ALK 5 HAW 0
W-Hall (6-6) L-Leese (2-6)
HR NONE
Hall goes 7-6-0-0-2-6 and I call it a night after 107 to give him at least a little rest after some big pitch count starts. Former Alaska prospect Wes Leese goes 6.1-8-5-2-2-4 on 120 pitches in the loss. Ibarbia goes 3-4 with a double (6) stolen base (9) and scores once and drives in 1 (30).

6/1
ALK 5 HAW 2
W-Drake (7-2) L-Domingo (3-3) S-Casas (13)
HR ALK-Gonzalez (11)
Drake continues to pitch well, going 6.2-7-2-2-0-7 with Valdes (H8) getting 4 big outs. Kevin Olson goes 3-3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI's (26) and Antonio Gonzalez hits a 2 run homer. Luis Negron goes 3-4 with 2 doubles (21) and an RBI (22) in the loss.

STUFF-spent a day or two with the baseball people. Providence has made it clear, they are dealing superstar slugger Manny Ramirez. Question is, do we want him? Is it worth it? To answer that I need to know the 'price'.

6/2
ALK 3 HAW 0
W-Hernandez (9-1) L-Cameron (6-4) S-Casas (14)
HR NONE
Carlos Hernandez took a 3-hit shutout into the 9th before back to back singles with 1 out put runners on the corners. Casas came in to get 2 K's and end it. Hernandez went 8.1-5-0-0-3-7 (118 pitches) to move to 9-1 2.56 on the year. Stan Cameron tossed a CG in the loss. Going 8-8-3-3-0-6 on 121 pitches (he's 6-4 3.51). Kevin Vaugn was 3-3 with 2 runs scored.

6/3
Off Day

EDM 8 ALK 6
W-I.Martinez (8-3) L-German (1-2) S-McIntyre (10)

A 7th inning bullpen implosion made a decent start for German (6-6-5-5-3-4) look far worse. 5 straight hits giving up by Carlson and Morales. Martinez scatters 12 hits in 7.2 to move to 8-3 2.73.

DL NEWS-2 former Rookies of the Year head to the DL. Fortunately neither team is in their respective races.

NEWS/NOTES
Might not look like much but Rogers started the season 0-3 with a 12.89 ERA in his first 3 starts.

A swap of lefties. I had Carlson in Chicago and know he can handle a workload, and lefties, with command. I'll probably work to address the shortage of left handers this year, either through the draft or this winter.

Buffalo's OF situation is a bit dire, and they moved a guy tied for the FL lead in HR's to fix it in Michael Griggs. Schultz is a good player, a payroll hit for sure, but a good player. Tulsa did nicely in this deal as well.

Maybe the Drillers think 8.5 games is doable? The 2nd deal makes me think so, sending 2 prospects for Gonzalez, who could legitimately be a 2 or 3 starter. I think I like both deals Baltimore made, 2 top prospects and low risk 23 year old high upside arm for 2 players in their late 20's.

I mention this here because I need help coming up with some cool names, fitting names, for all 3 before the 2028 season.
Their colors? Red, Yellow, and Blue, of course.

2027 week 11

2027 WEEK 11
RECORD: 5-1
OVERALL: 42-25 +4.5
RUNS SCORED: 362 (36) 8th
RUNS AGAINST: 265 (22) 2nd
OWNER/FANS: Happy 52/100 (+1)
SCHEDULE: 3 vs San Jose/3 vs Fresno/Off Day

6/7
AKL 10 SJ 3
W-Drake (8-2) L-Sabathia (2-9)
HR SJ-Craig (5) ALK- Vargas 2 (8)
Drake works through some early trouble to go 7-8-3-3-1-7 and the offense opens it up early scoring 5 on 10 hits in 3 innings off C.C.. Every starter has 1 hit, 5 have 2 with Vargas homering twice and driving in 3 (17). Alfredo Ynequez goes 3-4 with a double (15) in the loss. Tim Harvey is 3-4 with an RBI (5).

NEWS-Green Bay GM Nick White sent along a trade proposal today. They're 19.5 out, so clearing in rebuild mode with a furious Marc Cuban in the owners seat. They've offered 7 time gold glover, 2 time all star David Walker up and are looking at big time prospects in return. Walker is a horse, since 2021 hasn't played in fewer than 153 games nor hit less than 30 homers. He has a run of 6 straight 30/30 seasons, that started with a 40/40 year in 2021 (when he finished 3rd in the MVP voting). He's due 13.5 through 2029. He's won 5 gold gloves in right, 2 in center. I'll tinker, and talk, but I am not seeing a fit.

6/8
ALK 5 SJ 3
W-Hernandez (10-1) L-Fernandez (2-6) S-Casas (15)
HR SJ-Ammanati (5) ALK-Olson (5)
Hernandez got into the 9th with a 5-1 lead but tired, going 8.1-7-3-3-0-10 on 111 pitches before Casas got the final 2 outs (not before allowing the IR to score though). He's 10-1 2.62 and fighting for the start in the AS game it appears. Another solid outing for the offense as 8 starters got a hit, 4 with 2 hit days.

NEWS/NOTES
Oliver's 4th year is an 8m dollar player option. He had a great season last year, the first season he played in more than 121 games (156). hitting .304/.360/.453

Harris Boucher is ready for AAA, and teams like Koo more than I do. He'll pitch here, mid to bottom of a rotation, and I like Hamilton's versatility, his RH bat and his potential to get better even at 25.

Gomez was a nice piece of trade bait, given how he hit while up. White is a very good arm, still just 25, that could fill a swing role if need be. Trying to clear some room at Eagan to insure playing time for the younger prospects.

The injury to Gill is going to present a problem for the Bisons, with New Yorks acquisition of Manny, and Brooklyn playing well, they're using 25 year old Tom Butler to replace him. Butler is all glove, no bat.

2027 1st year player draft

2027 1st year player draft

For the 1st time in awhile, I have the #1 overall pick. There is no issue on the “need”, it’s an impact bat. Problem is the top 4-5 players in this draft are starting pitchers. Our scouts want Jose Cruz, a 6’ 175 pd righty out of Moniteau County HS, Mo. I’m still high on Richard Morton, a blazing fast outfielder out of UCLA who projects as a 3 hole bat. Very good defender, above average on the corners, plays a very good 1B too.

A look back at last years top picks

Here was the pre draft board of the top 10….

Name: 2026 Draft press release.jpg
Views: 238
Size: 82.7 KB

And here was how they were picked
1) Providence-Craig Lee LHP (19) High Pt Central HS, NC-6’3” 190-Had a good year at Rookie ball (6-5 2.69 in 87 IP, 122 K’s). Off to a slow start (2-7 5.19 10 GS) at Class A Barre.
2) Las Vegas-Wulf Wiegel RHP (17) Zavalla HS, TX-6’7” 210-5-4 3.38 in 14 starts in Rookie ball. 1-2 8 Saves 2.30 at Class A Charleston.
3) San Jose-Andy Morgan LHP (22) Texas Tech-6’5” 220-The most ‘mature’ prospect in the draft, made it to the show in September (0-1 11.32 6 G 1 GS). 3-3 3.09 in 11 AAA starts this year. Likely to break camp with the Sharks out of spring next year.
4) New Orleans-William Anderson RHP (18) Leander HS, TX-6’4” 205-1st of 2 picks in the top 7. Went 1-0 6.61 in 4 starts before his season ended with a forearm injury. Back in SS this year.
5) New York-Woodrow Hudson RHP (18) Greater Lowell Tech, MA-5’10” 175-Made 1 start and tore his labrum in the 6th inning of that game. Started at class A this year, and is a combined 2-4 5.48 in 12 starts.
6) Arizona-Darby Wallace RHP (20) Mt. St. Mary’s College, MD-6’3” 205- Another matured prospect, 4-1 2.70 in 6 starts at Class A. Entered the year as the IBL’s #17 prospect, 7-5 4.12 in 14 AA starts.
7) New Orleans-Stan Beasley LHP (19) Clarksville HS, TN-6’7” 215-Good start (6-5 2.75 in 13 rookie league starts) and is in A ball this year, combined 5-3 3.62 in 14 starts with 80 K’s in 87 IP.
8) Hawaii-Juan Aguirre RHP (18) Woodlawn HS, AL-6’2” 190-5-3 2.28 in 10 starts at Rookie league Kahului. Starting there again this year.
9) Baltimore-Victor Wells SS R/R (19) Corona HS, CA-6’ 165-1st position player taken (two very deep pitching drafts in a row it seems). Played in 24 games before his season ended with a concussion. Hit .269/.333/.366 in 93 at bats. Entered 2027 as the IBL’s #4 prospect, started this year at AA, and went to AAA, hit .293/.326/.341 in 41 AAA at bats. Back in AA, and struggling .180/.226/.200.
10) Dayton-Jesus Rodriguez LHP (21) Florida State-6’ 195-1 Short A start then went 4-4 3.31 in 11 Class A starts, with 83 K’s in 68 IP. Went 5-1 2.94 in 12 AA starts before being promoted, 1-2 7.02 in 3 AAA starts. IBL’s #42 prospect.

So the thought, at least right now, is to grab 2 bats that are as close as possible (meaning College bats if possible) but taking the 2 highest upside guys on offense, with the hope one of the top arms falls to the comp round?

Here’s the top 10 picks, as projected. (I’ll cover the 1st 10 picks (IN ITALICS), and stop when these 10 guys have been chosen) (number in (#) at the end is their pre draft ranking)

Name: 2027 Draft day top 10.jpg
Views: 243
Size: 71.7 KB

1) Alaska-Richard Morton OF L/L (21) 6’2” 195 UCLA-A 4.5 tool guy. His power will likely max out at 10-15 homers. But he can fly (19/20), projects to a .400+ OBP, hit for average and play across the OF as well as an above average 1B. He’s asking 5.5 for a 4.05 slot, but I have room. (9th)
2) San Jose-Ricardo Silva OF L/L (21) 6’1” 185 U.of Georgia-Similar players, very good OF (15 rated CF now) with good speed (13) and a good bat. More of a 2 hole guy. Outstanding base stealer.
3) Las Vegas-Jose Cruz RHSP (18) 6’ 175 Moniteau HS, MO-Not in the OSA’s top 10 but the guy our scouts wanted at 1, which I find interesting. Low to mid 90’s already, baseball rat who lives at the park.
4) Baltimore-Elijah Potts RHSP (19) 6’3” 195 South Shore Christian Academy, MA-Huge arm. Righty with 3++ pitches who’s 91-93 already. Biggest ask of the draft at 8M. (2nd)
5) Providence-George Horne RHSP (22) 6’3” 215 U.of Texas-Mid to upper 90’s sinker baller. Has huge repertoire, features sinker, cutter, change, split and fork (never seen a guy with both of those). Asking 3M. (4th)
6) Alaska-Fred McKenzie C R/R (18) 6’1” 190 Wellington HS, OH-Debated about a more mature hitter, but in the end this kids ceiling is off the charts. 20+ power, well above average eye, ok behind the plate already. I have good depth at Catcher, so can allow him to progress slowly. Also his asking price (2.6) is within the slot more or less and might allow me to use more on the comp pick.
7) Arizona-Carlton Ballard RHSP (20) 6’2” 200 Oregon State-Low 90’s control guy, innings eater. Arizona was excited he fell this far, was expecting him to go earlier. (3rd)
8) New York-Jose Valencia RHSP (19) 6’6’ 215 Algona HS, IA-Monster body with huge arm. 95-97 right now, with a bowling ball sinker. (6th)
9) Edmonton-Paco Padilla RHSP (20) 6’ 190 Clemson-High baseball IQ, good work ethic, 93-95 fastball, slider, curve mix. Raw change up. 6.5M ask.
10) Green Bay-Rafael Damaso IF R/R (20) 6’ 175 Washington State U.-Huge power bat, already a ++ defender at 2B, SS and 3B. Below average baserunner. Could be a 40 homer guy if he stays on course.

After 10 picks, the 1st, 5th, 7th, 8th and 10th rated prospects remain on the board with the top 2 hitting prospects (Ward, Fairlamb) still undrafted.

11) Staten Island-Gary Turner RHSP (21) 6’4” 210 U. of Utah-The top overall prospect coming in according to the OSA. Likely AA ready now. Sits mid to upper 90’s with 6 pitches. (1st)
12) Houston-Mark Ward OF R/R (22) 6’1” 180 Georgetown-Scouts say he could win a gold glove in center right now. Potentially a leadoff bat, above average legs, outstanding eye, good pop. (7th)
13) San Antonio-Derek Craig 1B R/R (20) 6’3” 215 UC-Riverside-Very good eye, decent power as well, base clogger as a runner and a below average defender at first. Likely a DH. OSA has him as a monster power bat and a 4 hole hitter. (#8)
14) Dayton-Edgar Lopez 1B R/R (20) 6’3” 220 Dallas Baptist-Another power bat from the right side, very good defender, not an ounce of speed. (#10)
15) Houston-Anthony Fairlamb OF R/L (22) 6’3” 205 U. of Georgia-Houston has a huge 1st round, grabbing the 5th and 7th ranked prospects (but the 1st and 2nd ranked bats) with their 12th and 15th picks. Top of the order bat, outstanding defender. ++ Speed, good basestealer. Potential 3 hitter with big power. (5th)

So the top 10 projected picks are now gone, with Houston nabbing 2 of them much later than expected.

ALASKA PICKS
#3) Suppl. Round 10th pick (36th overall) Orlando Martinez IF/OF L/R (18) 6’ 170 Chantilly HS, VA-A true leadoff hitter and the rare hit left/throw right defender. Will likely be able to play a ++ 2B, 3B and SS, as well as LF, he can fly, and scouts have his eye as a 19, possible 20, on the 1-20 scale. Very little pop, outstanding contact guy. We’ll focus on helping him work on his bunting game to utilize his wheels.

Thoughts-Scouts were high on Rich Moody, a 20 year old out of ASU. 3 pitch mid 90’s starter who had a great season against great competition in the Pac-12. Given how many arms I’ve gotten, and how fast, I thought I could put this draft ‘over the top’ if I could find one more potential impact bat. I think I did that with Martinez. His extreme versatility, LH bat and eye, with the speed, could place him in the leadoff spot if he continues. OSA is FAR higher on his ability to hit for a high average than our guys, but he’ll get on at a .400+ clip.

# Round
3) Joe Burke RHSP (18) 6’7” 215 Rice HS, NY-A monster upside with a huge presence. He’s a beast. Throws in the low 90’s now, but his cutter, slider need a complimentary pitch. He’s got the beginnings of a change up.

4) Felix Villa SS R/R (21) 6’1” 185 U.of Mississippi-Gold glover at short right now. Very good runner, bat could come, and if it does a special player.

4) Carlos Burgos IF/OF R/R (17) 6’ 165 Decatur HS, GA-Plays all 4 IF positions and CF/RF. Huge range, developing defender. Surprised to see him available, as our scouts have him as a potential 16 power kid (1-20 scale) with big gap power and a potential 14 eye. OSA not as high on him. Lots of time to grow, and work on his ‘people skills’ in the clubhouse.

5) Felipe Negron IF/OF R/R (21) 6’1” 185 Cal State-Fullerton-Another huge upside top round potential player. Could play, today, in the IBL and be a top tier defender now, at 2B, 3B and SS, and an above average LF with the ability to play CF well. Outstanding runner, base stealer, can bunt for a hit. Bat is a pretty big question otherwise. But after 5 rounds I have picked 7 players, and I think I love the HUGE variety in tools and upside on all 6 bats and the low risk HUGE reward on a 6’7” 18 year old.

(For the 1st time, I am going to let my scouts draft the rest of the way, unless they overdo a position, which I’ll note, but I want to see how they do)

6) Carlos Hernandez OF R/R (20) 6’3” 190 Mississippi State
7) Cristoball Martinez RHSP (18) 6’ 175 Lutcher HS, LA
8) Miguel Rodriguez OF L/R (19) 6’4” 200 Cherryville HS, NC
9) Jorge Hernandez IF R/R (22) 6’3” 205 U.of Washington
10) Rafael Maldonado OF R/R (18) 6’2” 185 Algonquin Regional HS, MA
11) Fred Cochran RHSP R/R (20) 5’10” 175 St. Leo, FL
12) John Griffin IF R/R (18) 6’3” 195 South Urban Academy, OH
13) Martin Martinez RHSP (21) 6’ 190 Illinois St.
14) Rafael Rodriguez OF R/R (18) 5’10” 165 Bronx School of Science, NY (man I love this
15) Greg Harding LHSP (21) 6’4” 215 U. of Texas
16) Sergio Arroyo IF R/R (22) 5’10” 180 U. of South Carolina
17) Jose Ramirez OF R/R (22) 6’1” 195 Cal State-Fullerton (teammate of our 5th rounder)
18) Carroll Sloan C S/R (20) 6’ 195 Georgia Tech
19) Cristobal Gutierrez OF R/R (18) 6’2” 185 Arcadia HS, LA
20) Vincente Rodriguez IF R/R (19) 5’10” 165 Nyssa HS, OR (last player taken in the draft)

NEWS/NOTES
With Brooklyn just a game out the Martinez injury is a big one, especially since he was 8-1 3.39 in 12 starts. They're 1 game in back of Buffalo.

Castillo is the catcher I sent a bevy of players to Hawaii for in March, at the end of camp.

San Antonio is cashing it in it appears. At 15.5 out it seems they've embraced the rebuild mode 75 year old owner Nathanial Phillips has demanded, and dealt the 1A in their former 1/1A combo of Esparza and Beckett. The Hooks are 4.5 out, 2 in back of Houston, and trailing 1st place El Paso. Wih Ace Adolfo Gobbi out for at least 3 more months they had a hole to fill and Beckett will do that.

2nd year in a row Andy Morgan has gone down with a serious arm injury. LA appeared to be the only real contender for Sacramento this year.

NEWS/NOTES
Big day for former MLB prospect Alfonso Soriano.

Three huge injuries, all to teams in 1st place. Michael Moran was off the DL just days after missing 6 weeks before he hurt his forearm.

Figueroa was pacing the league in K's again, and having a great season so far, and Dallas is going to be hard pressed to get someone to fill in. Both of these could spark some deals with 5 weeks to go before the deadline.

This is Castro's 2nd DL stint in the 1st half after his record breaking season of 2026.

Felix Sanchez is poised to crush this league for the next few years, hitting his prime after 2 huge seasons. Drafted by Fresno in 2017 (Supp pick 37th overall) he was dealt to Dallas for RP Raul Cruz (who's now the closer in LA) in 2020.

The Knights, after acquiring Manny Ramirez last week, have gotten another top hitting prospect. Providence is in dire need of pitching, starting and relieving and is using their top 10 system to do just that.

3 years and 51+ million left on Lopez's contract, and he's out until mid 2028.

Alaska through 81

Some good, some bad, nothing horrific. Gonzalez has been a nice surprise, up until his injury today (which is the reason for the news item below). Edwards is having a bad year at the plate, but still getting on. The two 'kids' are pitching outstanding, a combined 20-7 so far and a 58.8 WAR. Stan Hall has good peripherals, but is getting beaten with the long ball this year, already giving up 19. Seems Alexander and Durham have switched places.

Alaska, Green Bay swap.

Too good to be true. Solis was miserable, and made it known, after his demotion. At 10 million a year there was zero interest until today, when Green Bay offered up veteran slugger Stan Cannon. He saves me big money right now, and brings a big bat to the table as Rodriguez hits the DL. I have opted to move him to the 60-day, as he's a rule 5 and it will allow me to keep him, and Cannon could be a huge pickup. For the veterans on this thread do you remember this Cannon guy? I'll give ya a little bit to try and recall.

You traded for him as a AAA prospect back when you were still in Chicago. He didn't do much and then you dumped him to somebody in a huge deal. I don't remember much else. I just remember you being excited when you got him and then he stayed in the minors forever. Late bloomer, I guess.
