If it were not for the labors on the part of forum members, TBCB would have been at best dormant/comatose...perhaps dead.

I personally can't cite a greater degree of support than the fact that we've all stayed with a game that hasn't been updated in four years.
dp, you're right. Be sure that we really appreciate all the help and support. As with OOTP, we will build a beta team for TBCB and we'll gladly welcome the "core members" of this community in the team. The beta testers will of course get the game for free.

Brilliant news. I've been playing TB since 1980! 2.5 is great, so glad that you are taking things forward. Fingers crossed there will be backwards database compatibility with 2.5.

Is there a timescale for the release for 2.6?

And it will even be a good idea to update if you're on TBCB 2.5:
TBCB 2.6 will use the PISD platform layers which is the same technology as OOTP uses. That will bring us several advantages. For example all the edit text boxes will follow common standards. The tables will have all the features like filters and sorting and everything. So basically 2.6 will be an up-to-date version of TBCB 2.5 in regards to the user interface. And most important for us: it will run on PC and also on the Mac and on Linux. We will even consider offering an iPad version.
This intermediate step via 2.6 is needed anyway before we can continue to TBCB 3.0, because we need to implement the PISD layers before we can start improving TBCB.
We'll try to keep all the data format and everything unchanged for 2.6. We will not force anybody to update. But if you want to support the development of the game it will obviously be great if you would update to 2.6. We will really appreciate it
Will there be an iPhone version or is this just not feasible?

Chris, the guy has a facebook page with new screen shots on it, I remember the first game as being pretty poor though.

I will probably also pay for the upgrade to 2.6, but I really (really) hope that there is a noticable upgrade in this version.

My two cents. I will wait for 3.0 for the Management mode and the new bells and whistles. For me for this update, please work on the commentary and the graphics. Get rid of the ancilary in fight play by play fluff that hardly ever matches the situation. Like "Johnson is in a world of hurt" when Johnson really isn't. in fact Johnson may still be "in control" or "Johnson is out on his feet" Then Johnson follows up with a 3 point cross. If it doesn't really match up with the actual fight situation get rid of it. Specifically regarding punches. Tell me it's a left hook or a right cross and please have those punches match up with the fight graphics. Have a left hook be a left hook with the fight graphics. Have a jab be a jab. Have a body punch be a body punch etc. Have some options for skin color. Let me feel like I'm really watching a fight unfold in front of me. I don't need the same 4 or 5 lines about "These guys look like they really came to fight tonight" "The corner is really yelling at him" If it can't match the actual in fight situation, let our imagination do the work. Secondly PLEASE have the trainers and cut men stick to the fighters after all the time it takes to make the manual additions. It's so frustrating to reload a game and have all that work disappear. My 2 cents.

I will lay down some money for the update if it is reasonable. Anything over $20.00 will cause me to think a little. After all, we are talking a flea jump here as opposed to a full game. I think that a $5 to $15 dollar range would be reasonable.

They should also fix the big that causes the math error in the scorecards when you pick the "that's me" for judging a fight

We're considering an iPhone version, but it will a) need a complete redesign because of the different screen size and b) it will need to be a complete different game because of the different customer base. The current plan is to release an iPhone version of the management game sometime. So that will not happen in the near future.

Yes, there is a time scale, actually there's even an exact date and price and everything, but we will not announce it

2.6 will offer the same features than 2.5 and we'll try to keep the database format unchanged (at least it will have an importer), but we will of course not try to keep any bugs in place. We'll try to fix them all.

Heck, I don't even mind paying for the game - I use it EVERY weekend!

You guys provide a game/sim that gives me a lot of enjoyment. If you buy & use something once & never or rarely again, you probably wasted your money but if you use some product all the time, your cost per use really goes down. A product you use twice that cost $10 is $5 per use.

As much as I sim TB fights, we're talking pennies per use. Did I get value out of purchasing this product?

You bet I did & how!

Same for me. The game has helped me recapture my love of the sport. When I was 16 years old up until I had my first child I read every publication, knew all the fighters as best you could find in Ring magazine and KO magazine, andwhat was shown on TV. Then after my first child I would still follow the sport as best I could but with less time it was relegated to main stream fights on PPV, HBO, and Showtime, and once in a while ESPN. Since discovering TB it adds a whole new dimension, and has full gotten me back into the sport. For me the value of the game is far more then the price I paid for the game, and it would be my pleasure to pay for an upgrade... then the new game.

Amen brother! I swear, this game/sim makes the sport of boxing interactive for me. What happens in real life affects my uni so the 2 really go hand in hand for me.

Totally. The way I explained it to my wife (Who obviously did not understand until I did expain it) was that the game is a way for me to be able to use the knowledge I have, and even more importantly it gives me a way to express and use that knowledge into something I can appreciate and enjoy.

I also completely agree, what happens in real life (In Boxing) goes hand in hand with the game and keeps it fresh if you use it that way.
