Here is a question for you.
When is a team entered into a draw for a competition, but not entered into the competition?

When it is UEFA trying to decide whether to allow AC Milan to enter the Champions League next season.
They will be in the Third Qualifying Round draw on Friday, but UEFA will only decide next Wednesday if they will allow them to actually play in the competition, after postponing a decision today on the matter.

FIFA should have banned the Italian FA for a year because this seems to be a systemic problem and to send a clear and harsh message to everyone else that this will not be tolerated.

I know it has been asked about in another thread but the van Nistelrooy transfer to Real Madrid looks to be completed, according to the Real Madrid website.

Here it is Spanish (hope we are allowed to post non-English things )
Quote:

http://www.realmadrid.com/articulo/c...cial_32612.htm

If my Spanish is still okay, it basically says that the two clubs, Manchester United and Real Madrid, have reached an agreement with regards a transfer fee, and that van Nistelrooy has signed a contract with the club for the next three seasons.
He will have to pass a medical on Friday morning, before being paraded at the Santiago Bernabéu at 7 p.m. (CET) tomorrow evening.

It's been a bloody great summer for Manchester United and their transfer market wizard, Alex Ferguson.

It's really quite interesting how Chelsea has built the team to win a league title like the EPL while Liverpool and Ar-se-nal are built to be better in a tournament like the UEFA Cup. Even more ironic that it seems while Mourinho is obsessed with UEFA Cup and looks at the Premiership as an afterthought, when in fact his player management and coaching style are really about perfect for winning league titles, while OTH Wenger is more of a tournament style coach. Sometimes I think Jose has Ar-sene envy.
Envy? If you don't remember it was Jose Mourinho who won the Uefa Cup and Champions League in two years...with FC PORTO of Portugal! It makes me think...what Arsene Wenger won? Mourinho won the two international cups in consecutive years with a portuguese team...Wenger with Arsenal won what in international cups? Envy of course...

Basicially, Ruud goes to Real Madrid, and Michael Carrick is now a Red Devil. I don't really like the Ruud deal, but getting Carrick is great for the midfield.

Agree with you, they are a bit light weight up front and also injury prone with Saha, Rooney and Solskjaer all suffering injuries the past year or so. Rossi it seems is another year away from being a regular when Alan Smith returns be interesting to see where he plays as Carrick seems to have taken the position Smith was ear marked for, they do however have goals in other areas with Scholes, Giggs and Ronaldo all capable of getting into double figures.

They just seem lacking in money for transfers probably down to the huge debt they've been thrown into, players will always want to play for Man Utd but the longer they go on without spending money the more chance of star players not wanting to go there.

All the doom and gloom is lifted in Paradise as Celtic run out easy winners 4-1 against Kilmarnock, yet again proving that friendlies mean nothing and it's a bit different when over 50,000 fans are screaming for blood.

I didn't say that the friendly loss to DC United would be bad for them in the SPL, they are bound to be up there, and will probably win the title again.
What I said it didn't look good for was there European aspirations, which is to finally get out of the group stage of the Champions League.

Ferguson has said that Smith will be played up front this year, and as you said Carrick takes the position he was being groomed for, that looks the only option.

And the papers say the Torres deal is still alive as well, although personally I'm not so sure.

Wasn't a remark to you, I watched the friendly against Man Utd and the way people have talked about that game including the worst football showing station in the world in channel 5 you'd think Celtic were going to be relegated.

End of the day there is a massive differance between a game that has loads of subtitutions were the big stars are sat on the sidelines and the stadium is half full, compared to a game that as your full team out and close on 55,000 fans are screaming for blood like at the Celtic game today.

Unless Wigan Athletic played someone like Real Madrid or Celtic in a friendly I wouldn't even think of going to a friendly game might as well go watch them train cause that's all friendlies are a training run out plus you can get in free for the training.

Ah okay, I didn't think about or even consider it being mentioned in a commentary of a friendly.
My apologies to you, I just assumed, wrongly, it was my comment.

Fitness and money that's all friendlies are played for, the England snowball to win the World Cup came of the back of beating Jamaica 9-0, Jamaica are nothing but a pub team and that showed in the hard light of day when England got to the World Cup and struggled.

Celtic, think it was last year swept all before them in friendlies but nobody was shouting about them winning the Champions League, but this year they have a bad pre season result wise and people are on the Celtic are finished bandwagon.

Celtic will do what they always do either finish first or second in the SPL probably win a cup competition in Scotland and run a couple of big names close in the Champions League specially at Parkhead.
