I could swap the word resolution with "fidelity" or "rendering". You know me better, I wasn't talking screen resolution. Just that Macs are terrible taking an .fg file that is brilliant on a PC and presenting it to a Mac user in the game. Think of all the players that are on Macs and never visit the forum and just use the in-game shipped facegens. If they woke up one day and got PC quality presentations of their facegens.... they'd be floored. It's that much of a relative difference.

Bob Chance
Bob Chance finished his six-year career with 24 homeruns, 112 RBI and a .261 average. Among his minor league accolades was winning the Triple Crown with AA Charleston in 1963, the same year he was named the Most Valuable Player of the Eastern League.
“I played with and against so many great athletes,” Chance told The Jersey Journal in 2006. “It was a pleasure just to be around them. Each team had stars. The Yankees had Mickey Mantle and Joe Pepitone and then you go up to Boston and they had Carl Yastrzemski. It was great to get on the field with those guys.” After retiring from baseball, Chance moved back to Charleston, where he worked for the city’s recreation department and then later worked for the West Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control Administration. In recent years, he worked as a driver for a Holiday Inn in West Virginia. “My dad was kind of a quiet man,” said his son, Anthony Chance, who played minor league baseball for 19 years in the farm systems of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Baltimore Orioles, Chicago Cubs, Indians and Texas Rangers. “He really didn’t talk a lot about his accolades or him playing baseball unless you really probed him about it. He kept a close tab on baseball, he kept a close tab on the Indians," said Anthony Chance, "That was his team.” - nj.com Revised the facegen. He got wider in the face in his later years, but I tried to make him more as he was as a Cleveland Indian. |

Ryan Bowen
Right-handed starting pitcher Ryan Bowen is a six-foot native of Hanford, California. In 1986, the Houston Astros selected him in the first round out of Hanford HS, with the 13th choice off the board. Five years later, he made his major league debut with Houston, starting in 22 of his 25 appearances over two seasons and racking up a 7.01 ERA between 1991 and 1992.
Left unprotected by the Astros, the Marlins chose Bowen with the 63rd pick in the 1992 expansion draft. He started Florida’s inaugural campaign as the Marlins’ number four starter. For his Marlins career, Bowen went 11-17 with a 4.50 ERA and a 1.57 WHIP over 39 appearances, including 38 starts. He struck out 145 batters in 220 2⁄3 innings. Going over some of the more obscure splits, it’s clear Bowen’s impact on the game was measurable. In his wins, opponents slugged .291 against him, and in losses, they managed a mark of .506. - fishstripes.com, ranking him the 80th Greatest Marlin of all time as of 2021. Redid the facegen. Used the photo with the black cap to make the fg but any excuse to use the teal uniforms in the game, I'm going to do it... |

The teal does "pop" doesn't it.
Thanks bud. Many of these I'm just culling and using fictionals for now. But I'll keep drip-feeding the more prominent ones to keep you on your toes.

Art Gardner
The citation up-front for this one. A delightful story of a man who fell in love with baseball via the 1978 Giants and set about as an adult to find the players in the '79 Media Guide and get them to autograph it for him. Here's the link:
https://theathletic.com/1131390/2019...-1970s-giants/ Back in the days before package tracking, this was a roll of the dice. Did he have insurance? “I had faith,’’ Fracchia said. As the stakes got higher, Fracchia would call or email the player first to secure a promise that he’d send the guide back. An outfielder named Art Gardner said over the phone it would be no problem. But it turned out to be an incredible problem. Gardner, whose entire stat line for the ’78 season was 0 for 3 with two strikeouts, took nine months to ship it back from Mississippi – a dubious record for Fracchia’s quest. But just as he was close to abandoning hope, Fracchia returned home from the World Series parade in 2010, the first in San Francisco history. That’s the day he discovered a priority envelope waiting on his doorstep. It was the guide that made him fall in love with baseball in the first place. Redid the facegen. Well that link finally convinced me to take up The Athletic's generous $1/month offer and subscribe - and this story alone is worth it. What a beauty, thanks bud.

Terry Whitfield
Terry Whitfield is not a household name, but he was a heck of a hitter in the Major Leagues and the Japanese Pacific League for most of the 1970s and 1980s. Terry's career batting average in the MLB was .281, in the Minors it was .286 and in Japan it was .289. He was never a superstar in the States, but his three years in Japan were extremely successful in being named to the league's "Best Nine" twice in three years and being the best player on the best team in the league in 1983. Terry's career was not too much of a struggle once he reached the professional ranks, but getting there took a ton of hard work. He did not grow up with wealth and privilege like some of his peers, but his family played a major role in helping him develop into a Major Leaguer. His father worked as a janitor and provided Terry with whatever he needed through hard work and dedication and those values transferred to Terry as a young child. Whitfield was not just a great baseball player, he was also a standout in football and basketball as well. While he was growing up, Terry thought he would actually play football at the next level, but after being drafted by the Yankees in the first round, he was given the opportunity to be a top baseball player. - Daniel S. Pasternack, "We were all Gai-Jin - Terry Whitfield's Story"

Hubie Brooks
Just being selected in the MLB Draft at all is an honor that most of us cannot understand. Even for those players taken in the later rounds that do not sign, it is still worthwhile knowing that a team was interested in your services, even if temporarily. For former New York Mets infielder Hubie Brooks, it is an honor he came to know many times.
Brooks was originally drafted in the 19th round of the 1974 MLB Draft by the Expos. Being a later round pick, and a highly recruited player out of high school, Brooks passed on the opportunity, heading to Mesa Community College before going to Arizona State. That is where his draft history gets interesting. Back then, there were two drafts, one in June and another in January. Brooks was drafted again, this time with the fifth overall pick by the Royals, in the 1976 January secondary draft. After he didn’t sign, Brooks was drafted again, 14th overall in the 1976 June draft by the White Sox, but again did not sign. Then, in January 1977, the A’s drafted him with the second overall pick. Once again, Brooks did not sign. The White Sox drafted him again in the 1977 June draft, this time with the third overall pick, but were unable to sign him to a deal. Finally, the Mets drafted Brooks with the third overall pick in the 1978 Draft in June and were actually able to procure his services. It did not take long for Brooks to reach the majors, as he made his debut as a September callup in 1980, spending the following four seasons with the team. - Fansided, David Hill Redid the facegen |

Danny Tartabull
The Chaperone, Seinfeld Episode #87, 22 Sept 1994
Opening scene - A locker room at Yankee Stadium. George is helping Danny Tartabull with his swing. GEORGE: O.K., Danny, take a swing. <Tartabull swings the bat.> N-No! No! No! You're opening up your shoulder. TARTABULL: Really? GEORGE: No, not really. I'm just saying this to you because I like to hear myself talk. Yes, really! TARTABULL (wiping sweat from his brow): Alright, alright. GEORGE: What are all sweatin' for? TARTABULL: It's hot in this uniform. GEORGE: Hot? <Feels Tartabull's material.> What is this? TARTBULL: What is what? GEORGE: This uniform, what's it made from? TARTBULL: I don't know, cotton? GEORGE: No. This is not cotton. Here, lemme see. <Tries to look at the tag on the uniform. Tartabull gets creeped out and resists.> Will you stop it? <Looks at the tag.> Oh. Of course. Polyester! TARTABULL: So? GEORGE: I can't believe you're not playing in cotton. TARTABULL: Well, this is what they give us. GEORGE: You know they used to make leisure suits out of this fabric? TARTABULL: You really think cotton's better? GEORGE: Of course! Alright, maybe I'll say something to Buck. TARTABULL: Yeah, good idea. Catch ya later. <Leaves.> GEORGE: Hey, don't embarrass me today. I got some friends in the stands. <George makes a swinging motion with an imaginary bat and pulls something in his back.> |

Brock Porter
Brock Porter was the Gatorade National High School player of the year. He went 9-0 with three no-hitters, a 0.41 ERA and 115 strikeouts over 58 innings as a senior this spring at St. Mary's Prep in Orchard Lake, Michigan. The right-hander ranked 11th overall on MLB.com's pre-draft rankings. The Texas Rangers signed Porter, their fourth-round pick, and gave him a $3.7 million bonus, nearly 6½ times higher than the $560,200 slot value for the 109th pick. - espn.com

September 12 2002 LansdowneSt Facegen Supplemental Pack Uploaded
My 12 September 2022 Facegen Supplemental Pack is uploaded and now available for download. It represents all the ones I've done and am happy with. It has 2,286 major leaguers (exactly 10% of all the MLB'ers to ever play) plus additional minor leaguers. The link to it is below and my progress chart is also posted below. Additional info is on my facegen thread.

I reinstalled this hoping it would address some long-standing issues, but no luck. I have a couple of players (Pete Browning and Si Johnson, maybe a couple more) who, in either their "small" image (the one that appears in the field) and/or their "large" image appear with woodface.
![]() I can't seem to get the image to appear inline; here is the link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/whtf5s4byd...dface.png?dl=0 Any advice on how to force the game to re-read/reset those images?
