Thanks for the welcome and compliment on the avatar. Hagler's my all time favorite fighter.

This is the flag I'm hoping to use in UTBA-II. Big version and little.

Thanks for the welcome all...

Born and raised in the Minneapolis area, thus the Fighting Loons (in case you don't know that is the state bird). I am also manager of the Minnesota Loons in the Winter Legends of Cooperstown Strat League. The fans of both teams will be know as the Loonatics and they will fight in the Loons Nest Complex (Met Stadium and the Met Convention Center) now both under the foundation of the Mall of America). Looking forward to the draft and I could sure use a HW.

Welcome rotorhead.

Somewhere I still have an old 45 record with the New England Whalers fight song (Brass Bonanza) on side A and the mid-seventies epic fight with the Minnesota Fighting Saints on side B when seemingly everyone on the the team got penalty minutes for a brawl - even the goalies were going at each other.

Welcome, Crimson and Rotorhead. It's always good to welcome new blood. If either of you would like to swap your team for my Baltimore Binks, I could be persuaded. I think the Bink squad would go great as the Fighting Loons!

Any idea where the game was played? I did not miss a Saints home game their 2nd season (1973-74) and if it was at the Civic Center I saw it. There was a few fights like that, Saints had Gordie Gallant, couldn't skate but he could fight, he'd be ranked at least a9 in TB.
You have any way of making a CD or MP3 file from that 45?

I don't even know where the .45 is but if I found it I wouldn't know how to convert it.

Here is a video about the fight:

Saints and Whalers

Thanks for the link, no clear boards in the photos so it was in New England.
The Saints signed Goldie Goldthorpe for the playoffs in 74. If I recall right he was on suspension in another, Goldie was an enforcer, and fit right in with Gord Gallant. The previous game in the Houston Aeros series had been a brawl and this night the fight broke out in the first minute of play. Both benches cleared and the brawl was on. The ref, the hated Bill Friday and the linemen all disappeared so to speak and let the fight go. Goldie pummeled the Aero's tough guy to a bloody mess, moved on to a second Aero and pounded him into submission. Most of the Saints and Aeros stopped fighting and watched Goldie work his way through the Aero roster. Finally he went around and tapped a number of the Houston players on the shoulder and invited them to center ice to continue the fight. No takers. That was Goldies last game as a Saint, he was suspended for the remainder of the playoffs.
Bill Goldthorpe - FamousWhy he’s in here towards the end, look for the blond afro.
I'll stick to boxing in future posts.

A big welcome to Rotorhead and Crimson. I'm sure you will enjoy the league as much as I have, but thus far I have been cannon fodder for the rest of the league. LOL
