The St. Louis Sox face a disappointing end to their season as they were officially eliminated from playoff contention today, missing the Professional Baseball Association (PBA) postseason yet again. Reflecting on the outcome, Sox outfielder Youngy Johnson remarked, “It’s going to be an awfully long offseason.”

The Pittsburgh Pirates will not see postseason play this year, extending their streak to 16 years since their formation without making the playoffs.

“This year has been disappointing with the fall back from where we were,” said manager Norm Brooks. “We will need to look at the club to see how we can move forward again next year.”

Frank Killen showcased his pitching prowess in a commanding performance against the Baltimore Barons. The Louisville Captains’ ace threw a complete-game shutout, propelling his team to a 5-0 win. Killen kept Baltimore’s offense at bay, allowing just 7 hits, striking out 1 batter, and issuing 4 walks.

“A complete-game shutout is fun territory for me,” Killen said in the postgame interview. “I had good balance and mechanics and was able to keep the ball down. When I do that, good things happen.”

In addition to his strong pitching, Killen’s current batting stats for the season include a .227 average, no home runs, 11 RBIs, and 10 runs scored.

The Cleveland Royals have officially been eliminated from playoff contention today, ending their hopes of a postseason appearance this year.

This marks the Royals' second playoff miss in the last three seasons, having last failed to reach the postseason in 1895. In their 27 years as a Professional Baseball Association franchise, the Royals have missed the playoffs 22 times. However, in the last 10 seasons, they have made the playoffs three times.

While the team has struggled recently, they have seen success in the past, winning the World Series three times in franchise history.

Manager Al Barker commented on the setback, saying, "To give up your conference title is always hard. The lads will need to work hard over the offseason if we are to get back to the top of the tree again."

With the season now over, the Royals will shift their focus to next year, hoping to return to playoff
contention.

The Columbus Bandits' hopes of a championship were dealt a major blow today as pitcher Jake Boyd was ruled out for the remainder of the season. Boyd, who tore a triceps muscle in today's 5-4 loss to the Cleveland Royals, will be sidelined for approximately four months.

The 24-year-old Boyd has faced a difficult season plagued by injuries. Earlier this year, he missed three months due to a ruptured finger, and now this latest injury means he has started only 4 games, having played in just 8 total. Boyd holds a 1-4 record with a 1.85 ERA this season. His absence will be a significant setback for the Bandits as they push for the postseason.

The Chicago Cardinals' postseason hopes were officially dashed today, as they were eliminated from contention. Founded in 1871, the Cardinals have made only one postseason appearance, in 1872, leaving their fans with a long drought of postseason play.

Manager Zachary Taylor addressed the media after the announcement, saying, "We are trying really hard to turn this club around. Sadly, this year was not the year. We will try again next year."

The Cardinals' struggles continue, and with this season's elimination, they will now focus on regrouping for the next campaign.

The Philadelphia Thunder's hopes for a late-season playoff surge have officially come to an end today as the team was eliminated from postseason contention.

This marks the Thunder's fifth consecutive playoff miss, with their last postseason appearance coming in 1892. In their 27-year history, the Thunder have failed to reach the playoffs 19 times. Over the past decade, they have made the postseason only once. The team’s last World Series title came in 1892, but since then, the Thunder have struggled to regain that championship form.

Manager Jared Juarez spoke to reporters about the team's disappointment. "The lads are hurting," Juarez said. "We had hopes early in the season for a chance at the playoffs, but sadly we are not there. We will look at what went wrong and come back better next year."

The Thunder will now turn their attention to rebuilding for the next season, aiming to improve their chances of a postseason return.
