The St. Louis Cardinals pitching staff has taken another late season hit as they have learned that left-handed relief pitcher Adrian Morejan will miss the remainder of the season with a torn biceps suffered in a 6-4 win over the Cincinnati Reds on Sept. 24.
In his fourth season with the team, the 32-year-old Morejan has pitched in 59 games this season going 3-5 with one save and a 4.14 ERA.
Left-handed reliever Wande Torres will be called up from AAA Mempjhis.
Still waiting to make his major-league debut, Torres has split time between AA Springfield and AAA this season.
In 44 games, he is a combined 8-11 with four saves and a 4.34 ERA.

Player of the Month: Michael Harris II -- The 30-year-old center fielder hit .273 with six home runs, 19 RBIs and 16 runs scored in 26 games. He got on base at a .345 clip and slugged .505.
Starting Pitcher of the Month: Logan Gilbert -- The 34-year-old right-hander went 3-0 in five starts with a 4.33 ERA. He pitched 27.0 innings, during which he struck out 24 and had a 1.48 WHIP.
Relief Pitcher of the Month: Daniel Munoz -- The 36-year-old right-hander got into six games going 1-0 with two saves and a 0.00 ERA. He worked 6.00 innings, during which he struck out four and had a 0.83 WHIP.

The St. Louis Cardinals have learned that right-handed starting pitcher Logan Gilbert will miss a year or more after suffering a ruptured ulnar collateral ligament injury while pitching in a 12-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Oct. 2.
The 34-year-old right-hander is expected to be out for 13 to 14 months.
With the Cardinals holding a team option on his contract for the 2032 season, it is likely the team will cut him loose.
It is the second injury of the season for Gilbert, who missed the first few months of the season after suffering an elbow injury early in spring training.
In his 21 starts this season, Gilbert went 9-6 with a 3.32 ERA.
He also probably was the team's best pitcher through the final two months plus of the season going 7-3 with a 2.90 ERA.
St. Louis now has four of its five starters -- Gilbert, Sean Hermann, Zach Showalter and Eric Segura -- as it chases a playoff berth in the final week of the season.
