Or, the image is legit and that would explain how poorly he fared at third base for the Mets.
Fregosi didn't even bother to get a lefty's glove for his prank. He simply wore a right-handed glove on the other hand.

Does there exist spring training photos of Mel Roach as a 1962 Cleveland Indian? According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper he had made the Indians as a utility player but was traded to the Phillies in what the paper called a "rather strange trade", for 2 players who went straight to the minors.

Here's a poor quality photo of Roach in an Indians uniform. It's from the Tucson (AZ) Daily Citizen of March 31, 1962.

listing of identities of Topps Vault photos

A few months ago, a couple of our forum members were putting together a list by names of each of the players photos being released by Topps Vault. Does anyone remember if that list was released and, if so, where it might be found?

Charley Smith 1960

We invoke him, and he appears. The well-traveled 3rd Baseman is in the latest round of Henry Yee's auctions on eBay

Thanks for those.

One other guy I mentioned on July 3 as completely absent from the Vault was Dan Ford, and he has appeared for the first time since (KB 370-373)

Since then I've seen that there are MANY players - many with long careers, too - who have not yet made any apppearance in the TV offerings (as you said)

Frank Lary 1954

Not a Mets specialist (of which we know there are many), but once the Henry Yee eBay sale/auction was brought to our attention (thanks!), I had to take the nickel tour, and found this Frank Lary photo.
Personally, we'd never seen him in his home uni. He began the year with Detroit, spent two months in the Big Apple and then was exiled to Milwaukee. Love finding this, but not about to outbid a Mets collector!

Rare Tigers 1987

The Detroit Tigers should have dominated the AL East in the 80s and they would have if the front office had been aggressive enough and if Sparky hadn't made some bad personnel decisions, like overvaluing Tom Brookens and grossly undervaluing Howard Johnson. The Tigers won a divisional title in '87, but the signs of incipient collapse were already evident from some of the guys showing up that year in spring training. Here are five rare Tigers of varying ability snapped in 87 ST, courtesy of ebay's estimable Dr. J. C-OF Brian Harper was neglected for years by the Angels, Pirates, Cards, and Tigers (who gave him only a few AB in 1986), but he actually could hit and late in his career he showed it with the Twins. Terry Harper was a godawful slow OF with the Braves whose best asset was a little bit of power. Morris Madden was a very marginal LHP who spent many years in the minors before getting a quick peek with the Tigers and a somewhat longer peek from the Pirates back when Jim Leyland was rebuilding and looking at everybody. The other two guys never played a regular season game with Detroit. German Rivera was supposed to be Ron Cey's replacement at 3B when the Penguin went to Chicago, but he never hit consistently and the normally patient Dodgers gave up on him quickly. Rey Palacios was a nominal catcher who was more competent at 1B. He could hit a little and got some part time work with the Royals in the late 80s.

Rey Palacios did a great interview with popular KC DJ Dave O. Dave O is a huge Royals fan and he has an outstanding podcast with former Royals players...Dave O does a great job of taking us all the way thru these players careers and giving us details that should excite any baseball fan...The one with Rey is one of my favorites

Jack Spring 1955

Jack Spring pitched in only one game for the Boston Red Sox. This photo of him in a Red Sox uniform comes from the Cumberland (MD) News of March 18, 1958.

Jack Spring 1955

He's in the 1958 Red Sox yearbook.

Also, I posted a better Newcombe/Reds image here in June http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...ml#post4049096

I prefer the photo of Newcombe I posted better as it shows more of the front of the uniform, but thanks for your opinion.
