So what. That's because that guy does not appear in the 1911 Spalding Guide.

This was a spring training photo - loaded with prospects who did not make the cut. Count the number of faces in the 1911 Spalding Guide and you will see it is far fewer than are in the huge 1911 Library of Congress Brooklyn spring training photo from which these faces come.

I did the identifications for this photo for the Library of Congress. The guy far right is absolutely, conclusively, forensically, not Cy Barger - his left ear clearly does not match. I would add, though it is superfluous, the chin is different, the nose is different, the eys are different, the brow ridge is different.......

That is not Solly - it's Bootnose Hoffman! This is a result of the owner of the photo trying to enhance it's value with a false identification. Thus it ends up in books (and is still can be licensed for publication) with the worng ID. This happens way too much.
