Title Match

MW - (WBO) Jeff Clarke (6/CH) (24-3) beat Billy Papke (3/6) (28-6) for the second time, this time by TKO4 to win the new WBO MW title. Papke dominated the first two rounds but was cut over the right eye in the first. It was reopened in a close third round and then again in the 4th. The doc advised the ref to stop the fight. I had it 30-28 Papke at the stoppage.

Title Tourney

LW - (WBC - second round) Battling Nelson (6/6) (31-17-1) moved onto the title match with a KO11 win over Patsy Sweeney (11/12) (22-14-2). Sweeney was down in the 4th and 3 times in the 11th. I had it 98-91 at the stoppage.

Other Fights

BW - Charles Ledoux (5/4) (22-2) UD10 Biz Mackey (28/31) (18-8-2) Ledoux's EBU title was not on the line

LH - Bob Sweeney (UR) (13-0) KO4 Seargent Sunshine (28/39) (12-4) 28-28 (both at pre) Sweeney down in the first

MW - Teddy Neary (66/53) (15-5-1) KO3 Pat O'Keefe (UR/56) (13-1-1) 18-18 (O'Keefe at pre) O'Keefe down in the first and third, Neary down in the second

Title Fights

HW - (WBO) Jack Johnson (CH) (49-3) scored a TKO11 over Mexican Pete Everett (19/22) (22-6-1) for his 8th defense of the WBO HW title. * defenses ties Sam Langford for the active lead in most defenses.

This was never really a contest. Johnson toyed with Everett until he opened a nasty cut over Pete's left eye in the 10th. He went for the kill in the 11th, reopening the cut twice and dropping Everett three times. I had it 98-92 at the stoppage.

LHW - (CBU) - Billy McColl (10/10) (21-13-1) wasted no time with Harry Reeve (UR) (10-1) stopping him inside a minute in the first round.

Other Fights

LH - Georges Carpentier (8/5) (25-5) TKO4 James Barry (44/50) (18-12-1)

FW - Charlie Griffin (33/11) (20-9) MD10 Jimmy Briggs (6/13) (20-15-6) 96-92 Griffin has won 8 in a row

FW - Joe Tipman (82/68) (16-11-2) SD10 Joe Bernstein (57/69) (22-17-5)

FW - KO Mars (UR) (8-0) UD8 Black Griffo (club) (8-26-3) 78-75 (Mars at pre for this club fight) With one KO so far Mars may need to change his name

There were 4 lasting ring injuries out of well over 100 KO's or TKO's this month so I like the odds there. Two had ratings decreases, one retired, and the last one had no lasting damages (which was good because it was Billy Papke!) but has to sit out an extra month.

I say give Sailor Tom one last hurrah before he goes out. Your uni really mirrors his RL career, he just fought at a time when there was always someone just a bit better.

A few notes

I went through and added all the 1992 fighters. I will add the 1993 fighters before May.

I removed a few of the really crappy created fighters I had collected over the years. Instead I have decided to add 5 RFG's to the universe every year.

I will create 7 for each division and then throw out the high or low. Because of that a few 10 and above created fighters were tossed. There was 1 "9" and 3 "8" rated fighters added.

I will post the notables in each division along with the division snapshot prior to the cards. Some very good fighters were added ... a few of my favorites also!

56 of the 172 main division fighters are in action with 8 facing TC's. They went 6-1-1 against them.

Only 16 of the 50 club fighters are in action with 8 facing TC's. They went 7-1 against them.

76 of the 165 beginners were in action and they went 52-24 against the TC's.

Notable Beginners

Billy Miske (1-0), John Ruiz (1-0), and David Tua (1-0)

Moving up to Club

Rodney Bobick (5-0), Stephane Olek (5-1), Monsieur Souilles (3-2-3), Ernie Rios (3-2)

Title Fights

(NABF) - Carl Morris (19-0) vs. Harry Wills (12-0) big fight, Wills at pre but still rated higher so he should be the favorite

Marvin Johnson goes to 3-0 (2) with another win this month.

One of his arch enemies Eddie Matthews pushed his record to 4-0 (4).

Joe Calzaghe comes into the universe in May ... not sure if anyone will beat him for a long time.

Most of it is because of people reading it. I think if no one was following it then it might not have lasted.

On that end look for an announcement about the future of the LBA by the end of the weekend.

As I have said numerous times throughout this thread that the LBA owes a large amount of it's longevity to Cubedrum. Way back in the TF2001 days he helped me with his rules of scheduling. He also talked me through a few things through PM's.

March 1913

With starting my own site and the addition of around 250 new fighters, scheduling took a while to get through.

Every weight class is now represented. The March fight cards will begin tomorrow.

There are 10 World Title fights this month including a unification bout. Results can be found at the link in my signature.
