I didn't see any comments, but there are sixty new ones in the vault today.
Is it unusual to have new uploads two days in a row? Last edited by Buster Narum; 06-15-2016 at 08:33 PM. |

Rick Reichardt 1964
Not a lot of him in color with the "LA" Angels logo, and in such well-preserved color, too.
The volume is atypical, but Topps hadn't uploaded anything in a week. As I think I mentioned, "Topps Vault" is two people plus some shipping help. And they handle everything Topps sells on eBay. Today's uploads: 471-472 Andy Replogle; 473-474 Mike Reinbach; 475-478 Phil Regan; 479-482 Ken Reitz, 483-486 Roger Repoz; 487-490 Rick Reuschel; 491-492 Jessie Reid; 493-494 Rick Reichardt; 495-498 Rich Reese; 499-502 Steve Renko; 503-506 Merv Rettenmund; 507-510 Paul Reuschel; 511-512 John Harrell; 513-514 Pete Redfern; 515-516 Jim Redmon; 517-518 Joe Hague; 519-522 Roric Harrison; 523-524 Bob Heise; 525-526 Jim Cox; 527-530 Al Cowens. Jessie Reid 1987
Seems to be Jessie Reid who played 6 games for the Giants in 1987, plus 2 others in 1988, for a total of 11 AB. Here is a card of Jessie with the Tacoma Tigers.

Jack McFetridge 1890
Jack McFetridge was an amateur baseball pitcher in the Philadelphia area from a wealthy family who agreed to start one game for the Phillies in 1890. On June 7th of that year he defeated the Brooklyn Bridegrooms in the second game of a doubleheader, 4-1, and batted 3-for-4. He allowed just five hits and walked two. Although he had beaten the team that had been the American Association champion the previous season and would go on to win the National League pennant in 1890, McFetridge refused to sign a contract with the Phillies, and returned to amateur baseball, where he pitched into the next century. In 1901, he began to occasionally pitch in exhibition games for the Phillies, and in 1903 he finally signed a contract at age 33. McFetridge started just thirteen games throughout the season, and did not win one until September19th against Cincinnati. He finished that season with a record of 1-11, and did not appear in the major leagues again. He pitched semi-professionally until late 1907, when he signed with the Wilmington Peaches in the Tri-State League. He sustained an injury in the following off-season, and was out of professional baseball for good. These details are mostly taken from McFetridge’s SABR biography, which ends with the following: “Remarkably, despite all the attention he received in the Philadelphia press for well over a decade, there was never any mention of which arm he favored when he pitched.” We now know from the photo below (taken in1903) that he was a right-hander. ![]() I've finally reached a stage where I don't even really see the watermarks anymore, and can just enjoy the great photos. (maybe with the exception of today's Denny Riddleberger, who's got it smack across his kisser) But I just love seeing what comes up in each upload now. Willie Crawford - Cardinals circa 1976 - Part Deux
I like these two much better since it fits his fellow Topps brethren in the '77 set... As part of the KA run out on the TV folders.

Todd Cruz 1978
Looking at him from three decades after his career ended it's hard to realize he was a top prospect and not always a utility infielder. Played 55 games for the '79 Royals and is unusual in that uniform.

Warren McLaughlin 1900
On July 7th, 1900, left-handed pitcher Warren McLaughlin entered the fourth inning of a game for the Philadelphia Phillies against the St. Louis Perfectos. In his six-inning major-league debut, he allowed four runs on four hits and six walks. The Phillies did not put him in another game that year, and he pitched the next two seasons (1901 and 1902) in the Connecticut State League. In September 1902, Manager Fred Clarke of the first-place Pittsburg Pirates was interested in auditioning young pitchers, and he signed McLaughlin, who won all three of his starts. In the off-season, McLaughlin’s contract was sold (back) to the Phillies, and he was on their roster at the start of the season. (The image below is from spring training, 1903.) In two starts and one relief appearance he absorbed three losses, allowing 24 runs (18 earned) on 38 hits, 11 walks, and one hit batsman in 23 innings. He was released in late May and did not appear again in the major leagues. He continued to pitch in the minor leagues through 1908. Last edited by RUKen; 06-17-2016 at 08:32 AM. |

Glenn Redmon 1974
Sorta swept right past this very brief Giants second baseman of 1974, seldom seen in any format.
