The team played well in June with a 16-10 record and continue to dominate against left-handed pitching. Boston Red Sox -- Player Batting Stats
Snippet one sorted by at-bats, while snippet two sorted by plate appearances. Aside from the previously reported great month by Rafael Devers, Tyler O'Neill is playing like he is a free agent after this season...

Boston Red Sox -- Player Pitching Stats
First snippet sorted by innings pitched, while second snippet sorted by games appeared in. While Brayan Bello had a solid month, I love seeing Houck's strikeout and walk totals (32 to 2). In the bullpen, Liam Hendriks and Nick Pivetta played great.

June Development Report
The player development report is out and Marcelo Mayer received a nice bump to his contact and speed ratings. Hate seeing the hit to Mario Fernandez' potential power and current speed ratings, as I was hoping to develop him into major-league bench strength.

A short layoff and road travel to the Sunshine State, the Boston Red Sox (48-37) increased their win streak to 4 consecutive games by topping the Miami Marlins (45-40) by a 3 to 1 score. Of Note, the Red Sox stymied Luis Arraez today (0 for 3, Walk) ending his consecutive game hitting streak at 26 games.
This was a nice pitching outing for Boston starter Jack Flaherty (8-6), as he allowed just 1 earned run on 6 hits and 1 walk while striking out 8 in 8 innings of work; Game Score 73. Liam Hendriks (SV 14) worked a scoreless 9th inning to pick up the save. Leading the way at the plate today were Masataka Yoshida (2 for 4, Double, RBI, Sacrifice Fly), Tristan Casas (2 for 3, RBI, Walk), Rafael Devers (2 for 5, Run, RBI), and Marcelo Mayer (1 for 2, Run, 2 Walks). Taking the loss was Jesus Luzardo (7-8) who permitted 3 runs (2 earned) on 7 hits and 3 walks while striking out 4 in 6 1/3 innings of play; Game Score 50. Andrew Nardi worked the final 2 2/3 innings in which he allowed 3 hits and 1 walk but did not create any additional scoring damage. The Marlins' offense was generated by Xavier Edwards (1 for 3, RBI, Sacrifice Fly), Tim Anderson (2 for 4, Stolen Base), and Nick Gordon (1 for 3, Double). Player of the Game: Jack Flaherty (Season: #6) AL East Standings: 1st Place, 2 Game Lead

New York Yankees pitcher Nestor Cortes was magnificent in his outing against the Cincinnati Reds. In picking up the win, Cortes (8-8) scattered 4 hits and 1 hit batsman while striking out 16 in 8 2/3 innings of scoreless ball; Game Score 92.

Despite being behind 2 to 1 after 4 1/2 innings, things were still setting up nicely for a comeback. Instead, the Miami Marlins (46-40) tacked on 3 more runs in the bottom of the 5th inning and cruised to a 5 to 1 victory over the visiting Boston Red Sox (48-38).
Marlins ace Sandy Alcantara (6-5) went the distance, permitting just 1 earned run on 6 hits and 2 walks while striking out 5 in the complete-game victory; Game Score 74. The offense was powered by Jake Burger (2 for 3, Double, Run, 2 RBI, Walk), Luis Arraez (2 for 3, Run, Walk), and Tim Anderson (1 for 3, Run, 2 Stolen Bases). For the Red Sox, starter Tanner Houck (9-6) was roughed up for 5 earned runs on 8 hits and 2 walks in just 4 innings of work; Game Score 26. While not an ideal setting, reliever Garrett Cleavinger was terrific in his 4 innings of play, as he permitted just 1 walk while striking out 8. At the plate, Marcelo Mayer (2 for 3, Double, Homerun, Run, RBI) and Masataka Yoshida (2 for 4) played well. Player of the Game: Sandy Alcantara AL East Standings: 1st Place, 1 Game Lead

The Miami Marlins (47-40) jumped out to an early lead and cruised to a 5 to 1 victory over the visiting Boston Red Sox (48-39). Disappointing to see the Boston offense dry and up not play well against a solid Miami team.
Starter Braxton Garrett (8-3) had an outstanding game, allowing just 1 earned run on 6 hits and 2 walks while striking out 11 in 8 innings of play; Game Score 75. A.J. Puk provided a scoreless final inning to wrap things up. The Marlins offense was generated by Luis Arraez (2 for 4, Double, Homerun, Run, 2 RBI), Jesus Sanchez (1 for 1, Double, 2 RBI, 3 Walks), and Jake Burger (1 for 3, Double, 2 Runs, Walk). The Red Sox turned to Kutter Crawford (6-7) to take the mound, but he didn't last long as he was pulled after 2 2/3 innings due to giving up 5 earned runs on 5 hits and 4 walks; Game Score 20. The reliever trio of Justin Slaten (2 2/3 innings, 5 strikeouts, 1 walk), Joely Rodriguez (2 1/3 innings, 1 hit, 1 walk), and Kenley Jansen (1/3 inning) did not allow any additional scoring. The limited offense came from the red-hot Masataka Yoshida (3 for 4, 2 Doubles, RBI) and Ceddanne Rafaela (1 for 3, Double, Run). Player of the Game: Braxton Garrett AL East Standings: 1st Place, 1 Game Lead

While the match-up may have lost some of the luster that ESPN forced on fans during the early 2000's, this is still a contest between the two front runners in the American League race. On the day, the Boston Red Sox (49-39) used a 3-run 10th inning to best the New York Yankees (48-42) by a 7 to 4 score.
While not recording a decision, starter Garrett Whitlock allowed 4 earned runs on 8 hits, 1 walk, and 1 hit batsman in 8 2/3 innings of play; Game Score 54. Nick Pivetta (2-1) picked up the win for his 1-pitch that induced a flyout. Liam Hendricks (SV 15) had a 9-pitch final inning to record the save and lower his ERA to 1.93 for the season. Powering the Red Sox offense were Tyler O'Neill (3 for 5, Double, Homerun, 2 Runs, 4 RBI), Tristan Casas (3 for 5, Run), Kyle Teel (2 for 5, Double, RBI), and Ceddanne Rafaela (2 for 5, Run). Yankee ace Gerrit Cole also did not record a decision despite limiting damage to just 3 earned runs on 7 hits, 1 walk, and 1 hit batsman while striking out 6 in 8 innings of play; Game Score 61. Clay Holmes (4-6) (BS 7) was tagged with both a blown save and the loss after he was rocked for 4 earned runs on 6 hits and 1 wild pitch in 1 1/3 innings. JT Brubaker worked the final 2/3 innings without allowing any additional damage. At the plate, Trent Grisham (2 for 4, Homerun, 2 Runs, RBI), Oswald Peraza (2 for 5, Double, RBI), and Anthony Volpe (2 for 5, Double, Run) played well on the day. Player of the Game: Tyler O'Neill (Season: #6) AL East Standings: 1st Place, 2 Game Lead

Ouch, this one was brutal for the visitors. On the day, the New York Yankees (49-42) jumped out to an early lead, tacked on additional runs, and cruised to a 15 to 4 victory over the visiting Boston Red Sox (49-40).
Taking the mound for the Yankees was Marcus Stroman (4-5) and he did not disappoint. In picking up the win, Stroman permitted 3 earned runs on 9 hits while striking out 5 in 8 2/3 innings of work; Game Score 59. Chase Hampton covered the final 1/3 inning but was tagged for 1 earned run on 2 hits and 1 walk. With the offense firing on all cylinders, there were several noteworthy performances, including Austin Wells (3 for 4, Double, 2 Homeruns, 2 Runs, 6 RBI, Walk), Anthony Rizzo (2 for 5, 2 Homeruns, 2 Runs, 4 RBI), Aaron Judge (3 for 4, Double, Homerun, 2 Runs, 2 RBI, Walk), and DJ LeMahieu (3 for 5, 2 Runs, RBI). Conversely, the pitching for Boston was rather dreadful. Starter Brayan Bello (10-7) lasted just 2/3 of an inning, as he was rocked for 6 runs (2 earned) on 4 hits and 2 walks; Game Score 19. Relievers Garrett Cleavinger (4 earned runs on 4 hits and 1 walk in 2 2/3 innings), Isiah Campbell (4 earned runs on 3 hits and 2 walks in 1 inning), and Justin Slaten (1 earned run on 2 hits and 2 walks in 2 2/3 innings) were horribly ineffective today. Joely Rodriguez pitched the final inning in a scoreless appearance. Aside from the brutal pitching, the offense had its moments, led by Ceddanne Rafaela (3 for 4, 2 RBI), Tyler O'Neill (1 for 4, Homerun, Run, RBI), Marcelo Mayer (2 for 4, Triple, Run, RBI), and Rafael Devers (2 for 4, Double). Player of the Game: Austin Wells AL East Standings: 1st Place, 1 Game Lead

Rodriguez Hit-Streak Ends
I recognize that this is a minor-league (A-Ball at that) hit streak, but Daytona Tortugas outfielder Hector Rodriguez had a nice run at the plate during his 35-game consecutive game hitting streak. At just 20-years old, I am going to keep an eye on him for potential trade purposes.
