Off season winding down...
Jacksons deal runs 3 years at 5.6M, with the last year a player option.
We will receive a comp pick after the 1st round, right now that pick is #35, with 27 1st round picks, and the comp pick being #8. So I have 1, 35 and 40 (1st pick rd 2) as of today. On the downside, fan interest has crashed, bottomed out, at 51, ya, 51. We've traded some 'popular' players but the bet is winning will change all of that. This market has to grow, in size and loyalty, and hopefully Mr Lane follows with a budget to match. We're at 27th in budget and 26th in payroll today, with 2.09 available for free agents (I'll only talk to guys on the outside of the big money circle (desperately looking for a LOOGY) and there's 4.4M available for extensions. I'll not spend any of that if I can help it, to keep the wallet full for the draft. Not sure how much is left in the tank for Cruz, but nice to see him continue with a good club. He's a 4 time world champion and a 9 time all star as well as a 2 time Rivera award winner and the IBL's all time leader in saves. Mike Jones returns “home”, where he spent the first 7 years of his IBL career, and where he tossed his only no-hitter. He was their 1st pick (3rd overall) out of Rice in 2014.

Last days before camp.
Say hello to an old friend.
LH reliever Jonasz Plazewski has agreed to terms on a 2 year 2.3M dollar deal. With Valdes back this gives me Casas, Sheppard, Durham and Alexander as the righties and Valdez and Plazewski from the left side. Valdes will likely be the specialist.

Spring training
IBL CAREER LEADER: HOME RUNS 513 Curt Whimster (BUF) 469 Hugh Collins 435 Travis Bryant 434 Jeffrey Hudson (CHI) 427 Luis Chavez (CHI) In what many called a surprise move, infielder David Ledezma was designated for assignment. The 28 year old, in our eyes, had fallen off offensively, and more importantly had trouble staying on the field the past 2 years, playing in a combined 206 games. He hit when he did, but we need more certainty if we're going to continue building this. Fresno, then Buffalo, Edmonton and Hawaii put in claims and he ends up in Providence. Mr Lane is expecting another playoff push. I am unsure of what to expect. Offensively this club is going to be challenged, but they're going to pitch. End up with nothing major injury wise, after camp. At the end, with optionless players and in trying to pare down the roster and get the prospects playing time I sent 5 players, and a pick, to get some more catching depth and acquire another early pick in the 1st round. Here's a look at standings and leaders at the end of camp, as well as the top guys still out there. Also a look at the final WAR gain/loss this off season. I can't see how van der Ham is the #1 prospect given his inability to walk more, but he is. Nice to see Aguilar at 7 as we start to compile offensive players.

I've managed to trim payroll, clearing money for the draft, but the fans aren't buying in. Interest is horrid, at 45, after a winter of purging fan favorites and getting the organization pointed in the right direction.
I've been told that fan interest, at seasons end, must be at 55, and that it cannot fall below 55 from that point on......

2027 Predictions
A look at the experts picks...
A return to glory for some of the early IBL franchises that were good. Our pitching, hopefully, is lined up for a great year. Still not nearly enough in the way of offense to call this a dynasty, but it's coming.

Getting there..
2nd now, a huge improvement, with our top 2 players being hitters. Aguilar is probably AA ready now (hitting .417/.500 in first 3 games) but I'd like to ease him up.
Stover took a nice jump this winter, and is going to be a defensive asset as well.

Luis Gil goes 4-5 with 2 RBI's, Fernando Moya goes 3-5 with 2 doubles. Bob Harrell goes 3-4 with a double, Enrique Garcia goes 3-4 with a triple and 3 RBI's. Hall gives up 10 hits and 7 earned in 4.1 IP. 4/3 EDM 10 ALK 8 W-Rogers (2-0) L-Drake (0-1) S-McIntyre (1) HR EDM-Grueter GS (1) ALK-Vaughn (1) Ibarbia (1) Another nightmare start. Drake gives up 9 hits, 9 runs (6 earned) in just 1 inning of work. An Ibarbia error is the back breaker in a 5 run 2nd. Horst Grueter's 2nd inning grand slam made it a 9-4 game. It was 9-7 after 2 innings. Grueter went 1-5 with 6 RBI's, gil was 3-4 with 2 runs and a stolen base (1). Ibarbia went 2-5 with a homer and 3 RBI's (3). 4/4 ALK 9 EDM 2 W-Hernandez (1-0) L-Abrao ((0-1) HR EDM-Balfour (1) Moya (1) ALK-Gomez (1) Covington (1) Carlos Hernandez goes 6-5-1-1-1-6 in the 1st QS of the year and the offense pounds out 13 hits led by David Adams 3-4 day. Carlos Gomez drills a 3 run homer. POWER RANKINGS 1) New Orleans 2) Buffalo 3) El Paso 4) Philadelphia 5) San Jose NEWS/NOTES Nice opening day for Holland at AAA Eagan. He was an Iron Pig waiver claim from Dayton in 2024, and a guy we nabbed to a 3 million dollar 4 year deal this winter. Low risk, AAA insurance and if he blossoms it's a steal. Big injury in Chicago. Castro managed to stay healthy all year last year.

Week 2
2027 WEEK 2
RECORD: 2-4 OVERALL: 3-6 2 GB RUNS SCORED: 55 (33) 4th RUNS AGAINST: 54 (33) 12th OWNER/FANS: Ecstatic 45/100 SCHEDULE: 3 @ Michigan/Off Day/3 @ Providence 4/5 MICH 6 ALK 1 W-Sanders (1-0) L-Buckley (0-1) HR MICH-Reyes (2) The offense manages just one unearned vs Sanders (7-5-1-0-0-8) and 2 errors lead to a 6.2-6-6-4-2-4 loss for Buckley. Another big inning early (4 in the 2nd) put us in a hole we couldn't climb out of. Just 5 hits total on the day. 4/6 MICH 8 ALK 7 (13) W-Rea (1-0) L-Valdez (0-1) HR ALK-Edwards (1) MICH-Gomez (3) Tobias (2) Ugh, nightmare game as the pen blows a 6-2 lead in the 8th and 9th, Durham giving up 3 in 1/3rd of an inning, forcing Casas to go 3.2 after he blows the save. Worse yet was scoring 1 in the top of the 13th only to see Valdez cough up 2 in the bottom. Solis went 6-6-2-2-3-2 in the ND. Sergio Gomez was 4-7 with 2 doubles (4) and a homer, driving in 4, Ernesto Tobias was 3-4 with a homer and 2 RBI's. Mike Walton went 3-6 and Antonio Gonzalez 3-5 in the loss. 4/7 MICH 11 ALK 1 W-Hall (1-0) L-Raines (0-1) Some semblance of normalcy in the world as Stan Hall goes 7-6-0-0-1-9 on 99 pitches and the offense scores 11 runs on 13 hits. Garcia goes 4-5 driving in 2 (8), Ibarbia 3-5 with a double (1) and 3 RBI's (6) and Michael Young goes 2-4 with 3 runs 2 RBI's (4) and 2 stolen bases (2). Jesus Reyes is 3-4 in the loss. 4/8 Off Day 4/9 ALK 8 PROV 2 W-Drake (1-1) L-Gonzalez (1-1) HR ALK-Edwards (2) Ibarbia (2) PROV-M. Ramirez (2) John Drake gave up a 2 run homer in the 1st and after 1 inning, his ERA had gone down.... That would end up being his only hiccup as he bounced back from a career worst start, going 9-5-2-2-2-6 in the complete game effort. Matt Edwards homered, drove in 2 (3) and scored twice. Ibarbia went 2-5 with a homer and 2 runs as well. Manny Ramirez was 2-3 with a double (3) homer and 2 RBI's in the loss. 4/10 PROV 11 ALK 3 W-Bruno (1-1) L-Hernandez (1-1) HR ALK-Walton (1) Hernandez joins in on the chorus of nightmare starts, giving up 7, on 7 hits and 5 walks, in 1.2 innings of garbage. Mario Bruno came in with like a 45 ERA and went 8-4-3-3-4-7 on 114 pitches for the win. Jose Ruiz was 3-4 with a double (2) and 3 runs, Hollis Proctor went 2-3 with 3 RBI's (7) and Jung-Jun Pak was 2-3 with a double (5) and 4 RBI's (6). Mike Walton was 3-4 with a homer and 3 RBI's (5) in the loss. 4/11 PROV 5 ALK 3 W-Kelley (3-0) L-Buckley (0-2) S-Qunitero (2) HR PROV-M.Ramirez (3) Pak (1) Homers by Manny Ramirez and Jung-Jun Pak were the difference as Jessie Kelley went 6.2-6-1-1-2-3 to beat Gerald Buckley who went 6-8-5-5-2-6 in the loss. Former Alaska infielder David Ledezma was 3-3 with a SB (2) in the win. WEEK 2 SUMMARY FL POTW-Fred Rhodes (SI) 6-19 5 HR's 11 RBI's (.303-6-15) CL POTW-Nolan Schultz (TUL) 9-23 5 HR's 8 RBI's (.325-7-11) POWER RANKINGS 1) New Orleans (1) 2) El Paso (3) 3) Corpus Christi (-) 4) Buffalo (2) 5) New Hampshire (-) OUT Philadelphia (28) (ouch, 0-6 week) San Jose (32!) (Double ouch! 0-6 as well) NEWS/NOTES Tulsa fills the hole vacated when Terry Howell went down this week with former 1st overall pick Pat Kelley. He was headed up after his 14-13 3.93 2013 season but has gone 25-36 in the past 3 years, missing a lot of 2025 with an arm injury. I believe he remains the only player to ever go straight from the draft to the big leagues, never having spent a day in the minors. He's 102-107 3.99 in 282 career starts.

You have to read it to believe it...
Are you kidding me? I have to post the box score, and this news.... Never seen anything like it.
Brady actually ended the game with a walk off RBI single in the bottom of the 19, in his record breaking 11th at bat, with his record breaking 9th hit.

Draft pool revealed, top players
A look at the top hitters by contact potential, and pitchers by * potential.
Appears, of course, to be a pitcher heavy draft. I say of course because this would be a perfect year for another Pedro Salinas. Morton, the outfielder, is one I am looking at. Also Pott's the pitcher. I have picks 1, 6 and 36.

What do you think of those? Does the way the design on the players right shoulder just sorta ends look ok? I wasn't sure if it would look better going all the way down the arm or not.

WEEK SUMMARY FL POTW-Ricardo Flores (WMI) 11-25 2 HR's 13 RBI's (.373-6-26) CL POTW-Nawaf Ma'n (TUL) 14-29 2 HR's 5 RBI's (.247-5-14) POWER RANKINGS 1) New Hampshire (1) 2) Buffalo (5) 3) El Paso (3) 4) Dallas (4) 5) Chicago (-) OUT Corpus Christi (22) ouch, 0-7 week to go from 12-5 to 12-12. Alaska (6) NEWS/NOTES Keen is the premier young arm in the game, or was. Houston's missed the post season since 2018, never closer than 13 games since 2021. They won the 1st two IBL world series but have struggled every since. Keen was the 9th overall pick in 2024, out of the U. of Pacific and 2026 Coastal League Rookie of the Year. The Malik and Kokawa both happened in the Dragons 20-4 win over Green Bay. Managed to offload a decent little hitter in Thomas, at a position I am overflowing with prospects, especially younger ones, and pickup a nice power arm. German is a starter by trade, good stuff, good durability, can eat some innings.

Collins is a very good player, outstanding defender but an injury liability and a part timer at best at 38. The Knights have 3 outfielders on the DL but it seems an extreme price to pay for a band aid. Petty has another year at 5.5 left, is a decent bat, but well below average as a catcher. Ah, ok. 22 year old Bill Morrow is their franchise guy, a developing hitter, outstanding defender already.
