While the jury is still out on Alfonso Soriano's career, as he still is active and through 2012 he has hit 372 career home runs. Today he passed the 400 home run mark. |

2007 - Bagwell retires
It's been a busy season for Bagwell, as he became the fifth member of the real life club to hit 400 home runs, and called it quits following the season. Hensley Meulens retired with 479 career home runs, and Shinjiro Hiyama also retired with 417 home runs. Mike Piazza adds to the failure list, becoming the 32nd player that failed to hit 400 home runs in the replay. Garret Jones led all players with 50 home runs this season. Frank Thomas slugged the 500th home run of his career. Thomas has the most success out of any of the actual 400 club, and the closest to his real life total of 521. |

Justin Morneau led the league this year with 63 home runs. Morneau is the fifth player to hit more than 60 home runs in a season. I'd like to be happy for him, but I remember how much of a diva he was over lineup position, and his lack of effort on defense. He was always one of my least favorite Cubbies. Yeah, he'll knock out 20-30 yearly but his intangibles ruin it for me.
He was an exciting player once. Those days seem to be gone now.
