I’m not really sure how we’ve made it this far but we’re in the 5th! Louis cracks a quick right hand off Dempsey’s skull. Dempsey took it. Dempsey’s on the inside, now. Dempsey with an uppercut. Another uppercut from Dempsey! Dempsey nail’s Louis with another 1, 2 uppercuts! Louis ties Dempsey up and here comes Mill’s Lane to separate them. Louis fires a combination upstairs! Dempsey catches the punches on this arms and nails Louis with a sharp left/right to the head! The crowd on its feet! And there’s the bell!

The pace seems to have slowed up a bit here in the 6th. Nice straight left from Dempsey. Louis had a nice view of the rafters for a split second after taking that one! Ouch! Joe Louis just pile-drived a right hand square into the center of Dempsey’s face! That’s gotta hurt like hell! Joe Louis rips Dempsey to the body. Louis looked like he was trying to punch holes through Dempsey’s body with those shots and Dempsey’s hurt! Louis with a hard right hand to Dempsey’s head! This might bit it. Dempsey surprises Louis with a whipped left hook to the chin out of nowhere! There’s the bell! I thought Dempsey was through but he keeps coming back!

Louis opens the 7th with a blistering right cross! He threw that like a pitcher throwing a fastball –

the center…

Dempsey’s backing up against the ropes. Louis explodes with a flurry to the body. Louis with a left to the head! A right to the body! Dempsey fires a right to the body.
That punch froze Louis! Dempsey digs a three-punch combination to the body and Louis is hurt! Louis backing away and here comes Dempsey. Dempsey unloading punch after punch to Louis’ body! There’s bell! I think I just lost my voice!

Dempsey’s out of his corner fast for the 8th. Dempsey brings an uppercut up from the floor and Louis staggers back into the ropes! Joe looks like he’s out on his feet! Dempsey with a big right to the head. Louis is ready to go.

Oh, Louis threw a Hail-Mary of a hook in desperation and Dempsey walked right into it! Dempsey looks like he’s out on his feet! Both fighters staggering towards one another fall into a clinch.

Dempsey just raked his laces across Joe Louis’ face! Holy… @#!. Mills Lane has stopped the fight! He’s taking a point away from Dempsey! One point from Dempsey!

Louis is mad as hell! Dempsey is shrugging it off. Alright, we’re ready to resume the action.

Louis blasts Dempsey with a huge combination to the head. Dempsey replies with two digging shots to the midsection and a blazing right cross to Louis’ temple. Louis is hurt again! Dempsey letting it fly and there’s the bell!

Dempsey’s head’s snapping back with the impact of those shots! Louis with a sharp right to the head of Dempsey! Dempsey’s suddenly looks tired! Louis with another nice right to the head. Dempsey unloading a hard combination to Louis’ body. Dempsey bulling Louis into the corner. There’s the bell!

Joe Louis hesitated a moment there before returning to his corner. He gave Dempsey a look as if to say, "How are you still standing?" I'm wondering the same thing. And now, this crowd seems to be rallying behind Dempsey! Joe Louis is clearly ahead on the cards, at least - in my opinion he is. But Dempsey just won't go away!

Here comes Jack Dempsey charging Joe Louis as we begin the 10th. Dempsey with a beautiful right to the chin! Dempsey fires a series of shots upstairs but Louis takes the punches on his arms. Louis buries a right into Dempsey’s midsection. Jack’s hurt! Dempsey blasts Louis with a big uppercut. Now Joe’s hurt! That punch rocked Louis! Dempsey’s bulling Louis into the ropes. Dempsey with a left hook to Louis’ chin! My God, it looked he wound up and threw that shot from somewhere out in the cheap seats! Does Louis even know where he is?! Dempsey explodes a three-punch combination off Louis’ head! Joe’s eye is ballooning up horribly after taking those punches! Dempsey looks like he’s out of gas! Another punch or two from either fighter would probably send the other to the floor right now!

Dempsey lands a glancing right. Louis hooks to the chin. Neither man had a lot on their punches. An overhand right from Dempsey nails Louis! Louis staggers back into the ropes! He’s hurt badly! Dempsey follows. He’s tired! He’s throwing punches from the hip, now! Louis slams a right uppercut off Dempsey’s chin! Dempsey staggers! Both fighters look exhausted. They exchange right hands! And there they go! They’re toe-to-toe again! Huge right from Louis! Dempsey staggers back. Joe’s moving forward. Dempsey slams a hook off Joe’s side! Dempsey charges back in – and Louis nails him with a picture-perfect uppercut and…
