Wow, I really don't feel too bad about the Cano/baseline call anymore. This is much worse.

Meh. I don't feel good about this win at all. Could we have won it in extra innings? Certainly.
But the ump blew that call big time. And Crede still sucks, in my opinion, even with the clutch hit. He cost us Game 1 and he damn near cost us Game 2.

Oh lord, Nip/Tuck and The OC references in a ten second time span, if that. I wish very bad things upon that man.

I said it once and I'll say it again... I hate the dropped (ball hits the dirt) strike three call. If the guy swings and misses, there should be no second chance to get to first.

...and the runner gets to first base. Terrible call. Not Denkinger-bad, but bad. |

Tough to win when you have to beat the umps and the other team. The only thing I can compare this to is Denkinger in 1985.

Wow. I come back to the game after watching Lost just in time to see the White Sox win, and see the replays on that crap call. That's got to be one of the ****iest calls I've ever seen.

How in the hell do you screw that one up?
The umpiring this offseason has been worthless, and MLB should be ashamed. EDIT: Forgot which forum I was in.

Wow, there's no way they should let him work the plate ever, ever a-gain.

That was ****ing horrible. I would hope that the ump gets fired, but then I remembered that it's MLB.

1) The ump was hungry, and had a dinner reservation. 2) "Baseball Annie" was waiting back at the hotel. |

Wow. Even though I'm rooting for the White Sox, it's a bad a way to win the game.
Instead of being up 2-0 heading back to Anaheim, it's a split. Really lets the wind out of the Angels sails. |

Inconsistency on Balls/Strikes by the home plate umpires is another example. I've been seeing it in most every postseason game so far. |

Well, Persynski did what you are supposed to do ... run to first. I remember growing up and playing youth league baseball ... this is one thing we were always told to do. Run it out on third strike, when there is a chance the ball may have hit the ground.
Only problem here was the ump called AJ out, though it does appear the ball may have scraped (and that is all it would take, per the rules) for AJ to have the right to run it out on strike three. Ump called AJ out, thus he should be out ... but, I think it may have bounced back into his glove AFTER he smothered it. Of course, how do they usually work these? It's strike three swinging. Ball hits ground. Runner goes to first and is safe. How is that scored and how is the ump supposed to signal such? |

A thought: although the Angels can't protest a judgment call by the umpire (no matter how bad), what about the fact that the home plate umpire clearly ruled after the initial strikeout call that the batter was out with the raised fist? To let the player take first after he was already called out on the play would be a violation of the rules, which can be protested. The only way they could order a replay of the game is if it clearly affects the outcome - and there's certainly no doubt in this case.
I'm dreaming, really, as baseball will never overturn the call, but that's what should happen. They should go back out tomorrow and replay starting in the top of the tenth.
