Yeah, the baseball strikes have been awful to the sport, but even those were nothing compared to what hockey just went through.

Knee-jerk reactionaries are always quick to blame agents. Some fans shout down the owners. Some disillusioned youths cast disparaging remarks about the players. But it's not their fault. Greed is a human desire, not isolated to profesional sports. We have only ourselves and our society to blame.

To be completely honest, they need every week from here on out to be a bye.

I thought we were blaming it on WMDs? Oh wait, that wasn't hockey.

Go Hockey! (I don't really know any teams, since I've never much followed hockey, so I'll just generically cheer the entire sport on).

Could the Vikings go on strike until they win another game? They might fare better ...

I get around. The job description said "might be needed to save the world" but they failed to mention all the travel.

Is anyone playing fantasy hockey this year? I usually was in 4-5 leagues a year and just realized I'm not in any this season.

Geez...and I used to watch 3-4 games a week when I could.

I used to say that none of those things were sports. But that's all semantics. Really, the working definition of 'sport' includes any competitive game.

I still stand firm that calling NASCAR a sport doesn't make it not suck, though.

I have a hard time defining "sport" when it comes to car racing. While the dictionary says yes, I'd say no unless you included video gaming as a sport. Both require physical endurance, training, and fast reaction times to do well. Both have common rules to follow.

Bowling, while perhaps a "lazy" sport, is still a sport in my book.

PS - how do you think our country would fare in the first Olympics to include video games?
