Sam Segraves
Outfielder Sam Segraves was with the 1942 Cleveland Buckeyes and Memphis Red Sox, and also with the 1943 Cincinnati Clowns. The photo is from the seamheads.com website.
I think this is the same player who showed up in the 1950's as a catcher with Indianapolis under the name Sam Seagraves. His photo was posted on this thread in September, 2014. Last edited by Cusick; 12-28-2018 at 08:37 PM. Reason: Add B&W version of same photo. |

Pete Sunkett
Golden "Pete" Sunkett was a pitcher and outfielder with the Philadelphia Stars and the Kansas City Monarchs during the 1943-44 and 1949-1951 periods.
He was also a notable man in Camden, NJ. He started his police career there in 1944, and was the city's first African American motorcycle policeman. He became a well-known detective, and was known as a "tough cop." He served as a Camden City Councilman from 1969 until 1983. A newspaper article in 1973 reported that he was seeking to run for Mayor of Camden. He did not win the position. The attached photo is from the Camden Courier-Post of Nov. 4, 1970. |

While I'm sure there was no ill intent, you might want to correct your spelling (in both the header and post). The lady's name was "Mamie". Doubling the "m" changes the sound of the "a" and the word becomes something at least potentially offensive. Just sayin'.
