LansdowneSt facegens
I'm not sure where FancySkunk is at the moment but given it is within an hour or so of the slated Public Beta for OOTP 23, I opened a MediaFire account to host my facegens. Of the 1,700 or so I've done, there are a little over 1,100 in the zip file. I've still got to quality check some of the early ones I did on this thread to be sure they meet my standard as I've raised it since I first began posting. The link is here and there is a readme.txt file explaining why it will unzip into three folders (MLB players, Minor League Players, non-MLB NeL players) as well as instructions on where to put the files in the FastSpring version (as that's what I use). I'll figure out Steam in the days ahead too. My Steam name is LansdowneSt, so that's at least convenient. Let me know if this file works for folks and if not, I'll relook at the MediaFire instructions.
FancySkunk, if you see this, this might be an easier way for me to send you ones I do for inclusion in the CU Facepack instead of downloading individual files. Anyway, Happy Public Beta Release Day, everyone! ![]() https://www.mediafire.com/file/ox6gx..._Pack.zip/file Last edited by LansdowneSt; 06-04-2022 at 09:54 PM. |

Hank Ritter
Hank Ritter, known in his time as "Bill Ritter", pitched four years and 29 games in the bigs. In his Albright College (PA) yearbook, the recap of the 1914 season ("one of the most successful in the history of the school") speaks of the new transfer as follows: "[Of the infielders], Ritter was the individual fielding and batting star of this speedy combination. His long hits either broke up or the game or started the team to victory." Given his work at shortstop, it might surprise one to know that two years prior, at the age of 18, he pitched three games in relief for the Phillies and shortly after graduating he'd be a member of the NY Giants' relief corps. In 1915, whist the yearbook editor was surely still waxing poetic over the Albright Nine, Ritter pitched in 22 games for John McGraw's Giants. In his final year he pitched in a handful of games and in his last he got the win (one of four in his career), pitching the tenth inning for the Giants' 23rd (of what would be 26 game streak) win in a row.
Redid the facegen. My "before" is less zombie as someone colored him along the way but it was a small file and most of the detail had been smoothed away. I too smoothed a bit and otherwise tried to fight the under-the-nose shadow as best I could but also tried to hold some of the detail whist still lcosing the mouth. |

I'm having trouble with this. I believe I've installed the mod correctly but all the players look generic. Even will I manually search for the player's picture in the editor it's a generic picture still. Any ideas where I went wrong?

I saw yesterday with my game that it was a problem for some of them (Barnes, Barlow and some others) so I rename all my old ones pre 1884 using the same method.

Not a FG but... first no-hitter in my new simulation (not by me since I never control a team before 1969 in all my games) and something I don't see often... it's in the National Association.

Hooks Cotter
Harvey "Hooks" Cotter only had one decent season with the Cubs then he was gone. First image is the default fg. 2nd is my stab at it. I can't seem to get his fg right so I'd appreciate someone else giving him a try. In my sim the Cubbies are giving him a chance while Ray Grimes is slumping. If he sticks around for 1925 and beyond I'd really like a better look for him.

Hooks Cotter
Hooks Cotter played 99 games with the Chicago Cubs between 1922 and 1924. He made the most starts for the club at first in '24, batting .261/.338/.377 with 39 runs scored. He attracted attention when he hit .396 for the Springfield Midgets of the Western Association in 1922. After his time in the majors, he played in the American Association from 1925 to 1930 and for the Dallas Steers of the Texas League in 1931. -bRef Bullpen wiki
The Evening Gazette of September 06, 1924 noted that "Cotter of the Chicago Cubs equaled a world's record recently when he accepted 22 chances without an error covering the initial sack for the Cubs. Cotter is rated as one of the most dependable players on the team." I abandoned using the smiling picture of him and utilized the tuned face instead. |

Added a hundred more fg's
https://www.mediafire.com/file/yyaoe...12022.zip/file At some point, I'll get the link to stay the same and just put it in my signature block. Hopefully Fancy returns and adds these to the pack. |

Okay, trying this again. (My OS needed re-installing, and the files were a pain to transfer back from the storage disk where I stashed them. I still have to retrieve that "Tom Seaver as a Brave" game I was doing. And I downloaded the demo of v.19 to try to modernize my old 1980s Rangers game, but I couldn't find the "Import Game from v. 18" button. Do I have buy the full version for that?)
So I'm starting a new one; 1999 hands-off. This means the pics will be easy to find, one hopes. Such as this guy: 2000 Mets Minor Leaguer of the Year Brian Cole, tragically killed in a car crash after leaving Spring Training in 2001. He's rather the point of the whole thing: how high can Cole and the Mets go, without that wreck? (The only controls I'll be putting on the game is that the Mets draft Wright and sign Reyes. If somebody beats them to that, I'll force a "trade".) Glad to be back and thanks for all your work. Now I'm off to Lukas's thread to point out that Cole is not a "Caucasian". EDIT: Oh, I forgot. The Mets have Ron Acuña (father of that guy) in the GCL. Probably won't amount to anything, but I'll keep an eye on him. Maybe the AI will give him points for good DNA? I have a question, I hope someone knows the answer. ok, so when I create facegens and then put it in the facegen folder and add it to the specific player, how do I get that to carry over into a new save if I end up making one?

Brian Cole
"Have you seen him play?" asks Albert Pujols, as if that's the first question in any discussion of Cole. The Angels slugger played with Cole in the Arizona Fall League as a Cardinals minor leaguer in 2000, before he went on to win three National League MVP awards. "You'd think, man, this is just a little guy," Pujols says, "and then you were amazed by his power—driving the ball into both gaps and then standing on third like it was nothing." Finally Pujols asks, "Have you talked to Heath Bell?"
"I collect bats," says Bell, the Diamondbacks reliever and three-time All-Star, "and I have only one that's unsigned, because Brian never got to sign it." When guests in Bell's home see the strange name branded on his prized bat but no signature, Bell says, "I sit them down and tell them about the best ballplayer I've ever seen." Cole played outfield in the Mets' system from 1998 through 2000. He hit .306 with 42 home runs, 90 doubles, 193 RBIs and 135 stolen bases, numbers that might remind you of the ones Angels phenom Mike Trout put up in three-plus years in the minors—except that Cole had a lot more homers, doubles and RBIs and was 50 pounds lighter and five inches shorter. [He died driving home from Spring Training.] had driven on the median for 100 yards in an effort to avoid a car that abruptly entered his lane. As he tried to get back onto the road, he lost control of the vehicle; his Explorer leaped off the asphalt and rolled three-and-a-quarter times before coming to rest in the median's foot-high grass. [ He wasn't wearing a seatbelt.] - Sports Illustrated, April 01, 2013, The Best Player You Never Saw Amazin', I closed his mouth but tried to keep the smirk. I think the Normal view is a smaller head than 22, so I may play my games with the Zoom. Anyway, here he is in Zoom. And thanks for asking him, I had never heard tell of his story. |
