Congrats to St. Louis...I have to say, I honestly think the best baseball fans in the nation are the regulars to Busch...they're classy, they're intelligent, they're loyal...they're not trendy, they don't toss trash onto the field en masse, booing is a rarity, they don't hold self-pity when people count how many years since they last won anything....Great franchise and city that deserves it.

If they couldn't keep Beltran, these probably wouldn't matter anyway. Right now, Beltran is probably looking for a long term deal. Would that make sense since Clemens and Bagwell are going to be useless in one or two years?

I want to say the Houston organization and fans are very classy and I give a ton of credit for what they accomplished this year. What a thrilling series - kudos to you, Astros. I feel for you, we've been there. Your time will come.

What a great, exciting series. Every game decided by three or fewer runs. I think the World Series should be interesting. Obviously I'm frustrated by the fact that 2004 will rank alongside 1980 and 1986 among monumental Astro failures. I've followed the team for 18 years, 10 of them since I've moved from Houston. After Bagwell and Biggio retire, there will be no one left from the days when as a kid I listened to the games on the radio every night. When that day comes, my ties of loyalty with the team will loosen somewhat, and my interest in major league baseball will fade. However, it was good to see one more almost superhuman attempt at glory for these guys.

Great - Red Sox vs. Cardinals. Larry Walker vs. a team that hasn't won a WS in 86 years. Now who do I cheer for? Well, I guess we're all winners for getting a dream matchup like this one. Two great teams deserving to be there - no David vs. Goliath scenario this one.
When was the last time we had two heavy weights like this meeting in the WS? Blue Jays & Braves in '92? I don't know.

Great game, watched it at the HardRock with some buddies. Congrats to the Cards and the Astros...

Just got back from watching the game here in St. Louis at a bar. I thought the place was loud when Pujols tied the game up, but when Rolen hit that dinger the crowd was bananas!
I am incredibly excited. Last time the Cards were in the series, I was 10. I am looking forward to heading down and catching at least one of the Series games. |

Larry Walker is the ONLY guy on St. Louis I could see myself pulling for (okay, and maybe Woody Williams)... I think a Houston/Red Sox series would have been more difficult for me to decide who to pull for only because Houston has never won a series before, so I'd also be pulling for them to win one... Red Sox/Astros? - would have been tough to call.... Red Sox/Cardinals? - Go Red Sox!

I cocnur, havign Larry go to the Big Show that he shown have gone too in 1994 is a good time for all Canadian baseball fans (yes some still exist).
Also seeing Clemens being denied a chance to win a ring is always a good cherry on the cake (EDIT: I was told he already has won a ring, damn) Still Boston/Houston jsut doesnt ahve the appeal as Boston/St.Louis. THis series is a godo one, it has history, it has a kind of rivalry, it almost makes you think of when baseball was a game, and not about who can spend the most moeny to buy a championship (yes I know Boston has the second highest payroll in the majors, but it's the though that counts) Either way, lets go seven games, and make it a series that fans will actualyl give a **** about :d

Nah, you're right. From an immediate storyline standpoint, Houston vs Boston has more of em. The presidential race (guy from MA vs guy from TX), both teams having a big wall in left, the Clemens thing, the Bagwell thing.
But St Louis vs Boston has more historical story to it, since they've met in the World Series before, they're both teams that date back to the 1800's I believe, etc. Either series would've been good. But as a lifelong Cards fan, I like the way it ended up.

Thank you Astros for a GREAT series!! Here is to hoping all of the killer B's can come back (along with Roger) and make the NL Central the best division in baseball again next season.
