Maybe this was already known, but there's a file that Face Gen starts with when generating faces. It is the skin file...there are 3 of them, one for low res, one for med, one for high.
The names of the files are skin low, skin med, skin high (or something very close to that)...they are BMP's Those are the files where the "SI" logo is placed on the forehead. Simply go into those skin files and rubber stamp out that logo (which is extra simple since the skin file has a very uniform sort of color where the forehead is), save those new 'without logo' skin BMP's as the same name as the old version (probably a good idea to keep a backup of the default skin files with the SI logos on them...although it shouldn't really matter, its just something I always do when I change around files), and presto! Now every time you generate a new face it will not have the SI logo on the forehead so you won't have to go through and rubber stamp them all individually.

As far as I've been able to work my way to figuring out, there seem to be a number of batches of FaceGen created heads/faces out there for download.
However, I have not yet been able to figure out how to find them. Although I *could* keep digging around through the threads to look for them, I am wondering if perhaps someone just might be able to give an update on where they are available? I followed a link in this thread that led me to a series of Bag O' Head downloads. However, after downloading them, the only thing I can seem to get to show up is one photo rather like in the photo attached to this post. Any help that anyone could offer on this would be much appreciated. Thanks. Oh yeah, I also wanted to mention that I'm toying with the idea of putting together some heads for download too. FaceGen is a lot of fun to work with!

The Bag O' Heads are in PSP format, that is a Paint Shop Pro Layered Picture. If you have Paint Shop it is a good way to get 25 heads into one file. You can just click on "show layer" in Paint Shop to see the individual heads. The Uniform Creation Template is also in PSP format.

EDIT: Had a strange post here before about school kids and crayon portraits of players...it was actually an attempt to cope with how desperately terrible I was doing with learning to do hair...
But, I've pulled that 'crayon sketch' in favor of my latest attempt at a "Tiger with the light brown hair"

I can always use more heads... Shoot them over to me in an email. Please include your OOTP Username so when I get the Email I can give you credit for them on my site.

I'd like them as well for the Download Center if that's cool. JoeRockEHF@comcast.net. Thanks!

By the way, I keep forgetting to mention that those stadiums you made for that fictional league you put together (the one with the British feel to it) were incredible! Anyway, yes, I had read your walkthru a couple of times through before attempting hair. And, your advice was great. Unfortunately, I really botched just about every part of the process. Then, I started over and botched that too. LOL Then, as it was very late and I accidentally turned the player into something that looked like a grade school kid had done his portrait with crayons I got the idea to post the 'crayon version' as a kind of half 'making fun of myself' / half 'this turned out to be a pretty tripped out looking photo'. It didn't take very long before I felt that that truly was one of the most frivolous, foolish, and kinda-stupid posts I had ever done...so, when I accidentally produced the 'Tiger with the light brown hair' (I was actually trying to do a shadow under the cap and instead I got something that looked to me like really light and fine light brown hair) I took that opportunity to try to turn the annoying post I had made into something less obnoxious. I still have hopes of successfully implementing your instructions at some time in the future..LOL It might be that I just get too picky and get obsessive-compulsive about detail at every level and as a result things get messy. Thanks for the walk-thru on hair...I think you did an outstanding job with it.

A waste is a terrible thing to m... Dude! I totally eff-ed that up!
You're freaking me out, man! He makes me feel like I'm listening to Pink Floyd at the circus.
Those stadiums were actually Teflon Skies'. I just tricked 'em up a little for that specific league. Turned out nice, I thought. I liked that each stadium was customized for it's team. My favorite being the black bases and base lines for Blackmore. It's tough to be as "coarse" as you need to when you're drawing the lines. It just looks SO cheesey. The time to be detailed IMO is when you're smearing. That's when I straighten up the edges of a beard for example. It also might be a good idea to duplicate the layer you're working on at each step, turn off the last layer, and work with the duplicate. It's pretty easy to screw things up and then you can just go back, delete the messed-up duplicate, and make a new copy of that layer to start fresh. Of course, once you get the different layers of hair how you want them, you have to merge them before smearing. Just leave the original face layer out of it. Anywho, if you have any questions, just let me know. Last edited by Bobble; 12-02-2004 at 10:00 AM. |

I've been working on this for a while and I thought you guys might enjoy it. It's not really a template, but I have the plaque and typing set as layers and a walk through for setting the picture up. Not perfect, but I have been using and enjoying it for my solo league.

How do I get one of those?? That...I mean...WOW! WOW! Do you just use Photoshop Filters to emboss the player's photo and then copy/paste it into the plaque? That is ...WOW...and, then, I suppose one could replace a retired HOF'er's photo with their plaque photo and then their plaques would all show up in Catobase... WOW!

wow..
I just looked at it again And, wow! And thanks for your compliment gbmoore! That latest image was a randomly generated face in FaceGen (with some small adjustments made after it was generated) and it very much amused me that it seemed to me to have a kind of Fox Mulder feel to it...so, I just had to post it. LOL Tonight I've been working on trying to develop a repeatable method of getting the eyes of 3/4 view heads to look "at the camera"... I tried doing some stuff with the "Eye_hires" files in FaceGen...haven't had any success with that yet...I don't know if I'm going to find a way to do it, but thought I would mention it in case anyone might have any ideas how that could be done.

Glad you like it! I can email it to you. I downloaded the plaque to photshop and took out the original face. I enlarged the player pic, desaturated it and then did a modified sepia tone on it. The writing is from a couple different plaques (just to get the size and style down). It seems to work really well with the face gen pics.

If there's anything I can do to edit in uniforms, generate faces, whatever, just let me know. I doubt that with as advanced as you are with photoshop that there's anything that I could do that you yourself could not, but I would do what I could to return the favor of you sharing that awesome plaque stuff. Email is fslider2004@yahoo.com Thanks

Edit (12/04/04): Although I've since learned that FaceGen acutally already did have an option to shift the eyes, I did the pic below by a 'homemade' method http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...&postcount=264 ...and, as of yet, I've been unable to reproduce the directness of gaze in this version directly within the FaceGen program...and, though it might be possible to figure out how to do it in FaceGen, by the time I would find out how to get it exact in there I would have completed 3 such faces in Photoshop LOL. (The method I used is described later in this thread).
