Uh, actually it has. The 2004 MLB season kicked off on Tuesday with the Yankees vs. Devil Rays game in Tokyo. Mind you, the rest of the teams don't start playing until Sunday or Monday, but technically speaking, the season has already opened.

Steve has to have a long series of concussions by now from banging his head against the wall whenever he sees all these threads about the games impending release. I don't envy you, Steve. I wonder how many shots of whiskey it takes for him to get up the strength of mind to look at these boards each morning. Madenning, I tell you.

While I love the idea of Head to Head (I'm actually planning to start a league based on it), I would absolutely love for the game to be released sooner rather than later, and you can add Head to Head later.

But, if you do release the game without head-to-head, and then decide not to add it in a reasonable amount of time, I will be very upset...

Thanks Markus...I take you posting this poll as trying to please you fan base and customers....but....

I see no benifits of releasing early. The well I have the weekend off...or I'm going to have a heart attack if its not realeased soon reasons don't hold alot merit IMO.

Sticking to your schedule allows:

The posted features to be apart of the initial release.
Allows you and the BETA team that much more time to test and hammer out bugs that you won't find if you rush.
You'll probably rack up some more pre-orders.
Most importantly you'll have the time to provide the best product you can which will benifit everyone...the gamers and the OOTP Developments team.

Thats just my opinion, nothing more. With the attitude on the boards of late...I'm surprised this thread didn't turn into a flame war.

I would be perfectly content to wait for when the game is done. With that said...if it doesn't come out before the 15th...I won't be able to download the game till sometime in May as I am moving and my have no internet access for a few weeks...I still feel it should be released when you feel its done and not what some poll says.

But, also 'technically speaking', opening day is Monday.

According to MLB.com, the Yankees/Devil Rays in Japan was the 'Opening Series'. April 4th is the 'Season Opener', and Monday, April 5th is 'Opening Day'.

I know it really has no bearing on the release of OOTP6, but I wanted to remind the world how complicated MLB makes everything.

This poll was like a Dougaiton vs MannyTrillo NIT match. There was no question which one was going to win.

And according to another source at MLB (heard on ESPN Sports) there are 3 opening days in Major League Baseball this year. So which do you believe. My personal feeling is there's only 1 opening day, and that day happens to be whenever the first regular season game is played.

What ever happened to the age old tradition of the Reds always playing in the first game of the regular season?

There are three opening days because that means teams can market it that way. And the Reds getting the first day, they stink. They aren't worth enough money. Why do you think the Yankees went to Japan, yet both games were home games for the D-Rays? When Bud Selig sets it up, it's always about money

Hi Steve,

Whether we like it or not, and if we don't it's just because we are excited, I think we appreciate the answer so we are all not sitting here refreshing every 15 minutes hoping to see the game. I know as excited as I am, your answer has definitely helped me and it's all I ask for so I know what to expect or not to expect.

Thanks for the info and for putting up w/all the crap!

TM

I'll probably hold off DLing it until the patch. Then i'll ask for the refund if h2h is not in the game in about 2 months.

I love all the posts concerning majority rules. Of course none of them care if %12 cancel their order. Most of those comments in that poll are all self motivated.

The one thing I looked forward to is playing all these new personalities in H2H. But unfortunately look at all these people that i'll never get a chance to play.

Cardinal Rule "BTW, my vote is release without H2H as that isn't something I'm planning to use."

Hammer "So having head to head ability doesn't matter to me at all."

Lucas718 "I can honestly say that H2H is a feature I will likely never use."

Thanos "I voted for early release. H2H is something I may never use anyway."

ctorg "I play solo leagues anyway, so I don't need the feature."

Kemp "Personally I only play solo so I vote a "resounding YES".

Andy "I will probably never use it anyways either...."

Cooker "I only play solo so it doesn't matter to me if H2H never makes it in."

l3R3TT "Yeah, not needed by me."

playball335 "I play solo only"

Karl Marx "I agree with all the "soloheads"!!"

SkyDog "I'll repeat myself: I will never, ever use this feature."

Chappy "and therefore have absolutely no interest in this feature. "

TotalEnd98 "Do I plan on using H2H? No."

Mariner and Giants Fan "I want it NOW! NOW! NOW! Umm and it is ok with me if you don't add H2H until OOTP7"

SSG Troyer "H2H is meaningless to me."

It would truly be a shame if these people votes yes just to get the game out early and then played in H2H league's.

So now that I've officially pre-ordered, I've added my vote.

Without the appropriate, "git'erdun" option I went with "Yes".

I'm a solo league player but dang am I looking forward to Rule 5 drafts, waivers, and 40 man rosters.

Heh, reminds me of a South Florida waterbed store that once announced its "Second Annual Grand Opening Sale".

And may I ask how your comments are not self motivated?

You are certainly entitled to your opinion. I will even encourage you to voice your opinion because you may enlighten others to see things from another perspective. But lets not pretend that because you do not agree with the majority that your comments are not self motivated.

I agree with this sentiment. I must say, I'm surprised at the "apathy" about H2H play on the forums. Given the sort of community we have here, I would have expected H2H to have generated more excitement than it has.

If Markus decides to release the game without it, I'm still buying it. It will still be the best baseball sim out there, IMO. But I would be one extremely disappointed customer if H2H gets "sidetracked" somehow. Not that I think it will.

Chalk me up as another one of the folks who would rather see it released sooner than later with the H2H option. I'm a solo player, and would never use the feature.

One caveat, though: if the question is "do you want it released early without the H2H feature and still a bit on the buggy side", then I have to give a big old hell no. Those of us who have done business with .400 Software Studios understand the folly of releasing a game before it is ready just to please a few fans (who will quickly become displeased when they learn that they've paid 30 bucks to be beta-testers). I don't want to be too hard on those guys; in many cases I believe that they released the games in their buggy states because they as a company seem to be very attentive to their Internet fan base and were being inundated with requests to "just release it now", but it's still a very bad idea. There are some things that a person wants and other things that they just think they want.
