Sometimes when playing out a game I pause for moment to take in the sights. Having these wonderful models in my league really enhances the immersion a lot. They really make the league come alive.

Here is the final preview for Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Everything but the field itself is done. All that's left to do is to wait until the actual showcase in 2 weeks, so I can see how to model the field. If there is nothing too complicated, this stadium will be finished within November.

Yes, that's right..... This is Duff Stadium from Simpsons. I've been thinking about this one for a while. There isn't a definitive version of Duff Stadium as it is somewhat different depending on the episode. It also appears in certain city building games but its form is quite rudimentary.

So, I'll just combine all the references I can find and create my own fictional Duff Stadium in OOTP. I had fun building this stadium and hope everyone enjoys playing with it as well!

Special monument beyond center field wall -- this pays tribute to a local hero who saved the team from moving out of Springfield. He ended his hunger strike at this exact location


Experiment with day/night textures -- in addition to skyline, I'm beginning to play around with other textures as well. For Duff, I only tested with the stadium lights. The night version stadium light actually looks like it is lit. I'm not totally satisfied with the effect, but it'll have to do for now.

It should be fine. That stadium was made and tested in OOTP23 I believe, but nothing has changed in 24 in terms of how custom stadiums work. I haven't specifically used this stadium in 24, but my other older creations are working property in 24, so I assume this one should be ok, too.

If you run into any issues, let me know and I can test it.

What problems are you having? I just tried and it can work. However, the normal import with PRK file doesn't work properly. You will need to manually load the 3D model (select OBJ file). Here is the screen:

Hey Canuck, I just saw this quick vid Shawn Stradling posted on Twitter kinda showing a little bit of the Dubai field, not much. Hopefully this can help out a bit. https://twitter.com/Shawn_Spradling/...43964451307885

I asked him in a reply what the dimensions are looking like, and he said it'll be 400 to dead center and 315 to the lines.

Yes, I saw the clips as well. I can now tell which side home plate is going to be (and actually already oriented the model to the axis accordingly). In a few days we will also see whether the outfield walls are fenced in and how they build the dugouts. Won't be long now

Watching the Baseball United all-star showcase right now. Looks like it's a sparse crowd at best. But at least we get a good look at the field. I'm taking notes and plan to finish the stadium soon

Dubai International Cricket Stadium

Ok, finally done! It's pretty cool to be uploading the stadium as the 2nd game is happening on stream right now. There is a few things to note with this one:

- I did not build any of those on-field VIP sofas because I just want to get this stadium done. It has been waiting to be completed for a while now.

- I am opening up the upper decks (and most of the seating around the stadium). In OOTP, baseball is popular everywhere so fans in Dubai will actually fill the place!

- No advertisement this time. If there are more games played here next year, perhaps I will revisit the stadium and make more additions

- They did not install Foul poles??? Why? So I'm adding it in my model

I have to say this was a delightful project and really fun to be doing something a bit different. I truly hope the new league is sustainable and we can have more stadiums in the UAE.

Most likely not (even though I'd love to). Any current stadium in the professional league in Japan cannot be included. Silvam's excellent N_P_B stadiums got taken down. Mine are historical so maybe that's why they are allowed.
