The Cardinals have returned Alex Reyes to AAA Memphis after he made a spot start for Carlos Martinez in a 3-2 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on June 22.
Reyes pitched 5.1 innings, allowing three runs on four hits. He struck out five and walked three.
First baseman Jose Martinez has returned to the major league roster.

After dropping two of three to the Indians, which allowed the Cubs to pull within a half-game in the NL Central, the Cardinals welcome the Braves for a three-game weekend series.
Also, we received a note from owner Bill DeWitt.
He praised us for our performance and encouraged the team to keep it up.
But he's also upset that Adam Wainwright has not received his extension and the overall performance of the team.
RESPONSE: Until a recent rough patch, we've had led the game division by 3.5 games plus and still are tied for the second-best record in the NL.
As far as Wainwright, yes, he is 6-5 with a 3.78 ERA but unless he wants a cheap one-year deal, with all the pitching in the farm system, it would be stupid to bring him back.
Carlos Martinez is the issue. He was allowed to skip a start and came back and pitched maybe his worst game of the season.
The team is tied for the division lead and well position if the Cubs should get really hot to grab a wild card.
Just stay in your office and enjoy watching the second half.
