And this continues...
I know another thread was started on the subject but why don't they use the technology available to have balls and strikes automated. In the worst case scenario it would at least be consistent. My mother is Cuban and I'm an avid supporter of Cubans in all sports but in this case of Angel Hernandez I'm sorry ... what's the saying? If it walks like a duck, looks like a duck, quacks like a duck ... whatever I don't know. |

Tough season so far...
but if anybody is a glutton for punishment (like me), I'll be in Sec. 118, Row 7, Seat 1 or 2 with my honey to watch us try to deal with the Twinkies on 9/23. Never met any of you in real life...but that can stand changing!

Aside from the three brawls on the field, Verlander, Martinez and Castianos were in a dust up in the dugout - I wonder what that was all about.
What a horrible season.

^ JV wasn't happy with V Mart playing peacemaker & being too chummy with the Yankees during the 2nd scrum.

Verlander sent to Astros for three top prospects
Well, I wanted it to happen so we could rebuild. I expected it to happen. But I sure am sad that it did happen. My 9 year-old son cried when I told him.

The only big contracts that remain are Miggy, Zimm, Ian, Sanchie, and V-Mart.
Miggy could be traded if he can get past his injuries and produce. If not, oi! Zimm is not going to improve, so we're going to have to watch him in misery for 3 more years. Ian has a team option for next year. I have a feeling the Tigers pick it up and try to trade him for something. Sanchie has a team option for next year. Detroit will buy him out. See ya! V-Mart. He really should just retire. But if he doesn't he's done after next year. Trading the final two Justins is a huge weight off of the budget and gives the Tigers a lot more room to fiddle.

Triple play and grand slam by same team in one game. I wonder how many times that's happened in history.

Speculation in the Free Press - I like the idea of giving McClendon or Vizquel a chance. Hopefully, if they go that route Avila won't ditch them at the tail end of the rebuild ala Trammell.

There are currently 18 or 19 retreads managing in MLB. I guess it just depends upon which retread you get - I suspect that Cleveland is happy with their retread. Ditto for the Cubs, Red Sox and Yankees.

I wouldn't want McLendon. I'd hire Vizquel if they decide to stay in the organization. |
