As for managers, I turned them off when i started the league. I guess the game keeps the same names by default. Maybe I'll turn coaching on again, and see if any older players come back and take over teams... |

1923 Regular Season
Nothing really newsworthy happens for the first few months. ALOT of injuries, but to many to mention. It’s August 1st, and the Phillies are again baseball’s worst team. The pitching is beyond bad, but Mule Suttles has proven to be a quick study. He’s currently hitting .403, with 30 home runs, just 9 behind the Babe Ruth record. Eddie Collins announces he will retire at the conclusion of the regular season. Collins has been a very consistent hitter, over a 18 year career, that included 4 AL MVP's. Aug 30th- In a 16-15 win, over Babe Ruth’ s St. Louis Cardinals, Mule Suttles hits his 40th home run of the season. The 20 year old rookie, is the first person to eclipse the 40 mark. He went on to hit 3 more home runs over the next 2 days. 50 is approaching fast! Oh, Mule also has set the single season record of RBI’s in a season. Cap Anson held the record of 147 in 1886, and the modern day mark was Gavvy Cravath’s 143 in 1911. It’s Sept 1st as I write this, and Suttles has 159! No pennant races this year. The results were obvious before September began. ![]() Mule Suttles has one of the greatest season’s you imagine. He set single season records in 5 categories, and hit the 50 home run barrier. Take a look at this season’s stats. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

and for managers, let me know if you they have records in the history section when you turn them on I want Connie Mack to stay on as A's manager and make managerial changes myself for other teams, if I turn coaches off during the season and then on, one day AFTER the season to fire/hire, it be nice if their W/L records were being counted As for your league looking like the Negro League Hall of Champions, that is one big issue I have with the Spritze/Gambo database, it's full of ancedotal evidence on the Negro Leagues who usually had good players on one or two teams, and the other teams were scrubs, so they looked HOF great by comparison. Charleston was ranked 4th by Bill James, but he had nobody to compete against, and rarely had even 230 ABs a season...small sample size Mr. Bill James? No...only when convenient? I always knock down most Negro League players depending on their competition. Oscar Charleston, Martin Dihigo, Pop Lloyd, Cool Papa Bell, Satchel Paige and Buck Leonard are the only ones I keep at a high level potential, with Paige and Dihigo being the HOF class level. Dihigo played in Mexico, Cuba and NL, and he played every position, meaning he had talent and faced alot of different competition and still was the man. Josh Gibson, I keep his HR power, but it was known that he had trouble with breaking balls (Buck O'Neill left that out of his stories) You put him in MLB with curves and sliders, he'd hit .230 with a good enough K's to lose his job. Gibson had no more than 200 ABs a season and no more than 12 HR. He also spent his career on the two powerhouses: Pittsburgh and Homestead with Paige,Charleston, Cool Papa, Buck Leonard, Jud Wilson,Judy Johnson and Bill Foster Did no one look at say...hey, all the HOF players are on two teams? Anyway, sorry for my rant on your dynasty...I just think it is unfair that we sully people like Pepper Martin,Chuck Klein,Rogers Hornsby and to an extent sometimes, Babe Ruth and use hyperbole and ancedotes to raise Negro Leaguers to Mt Olympus of baseball lore.

No worries Carlton, i find it interesting and educating. Mule Suttles is rated as the Babe Ruth in a league of Babe Ruth's. I may knock him and other down a bit after reading that. I like realism the best, and what you say does make sense.
There really isn't a right or wrong way to do these things, just a way to make one happy. I do agree with the "ballplayers" After you mentioned it, I looked around, and there are a few. I'm gonna start deleting guys like that. |

1923 World Series
![]() The Reds prove that the offense in the NL truly does reign supreme making quick work of the defending World champion Browns. Bill Terry drives in 8, while hitting .450, while Tony Lazzeri hits 2 home runs. Maybe it’s time to institute a World Series MVP award? |

No worries, don't change on my account. Your dynasty is amazing, probably top 10 ALL TIME on here, and that is the 1st Patrick O'Farrell- Tiger Fan's Merkle Dynasty tier.
Is Terry's RBI a record, it has to be, right? You have some unique pitchers winning the Pitcher of the Year Award. The Development engine has been nice to some guys Joe Mulligan's facegen is the creepiest one I've seen yet!

Joe Mulligan belongs on the Walking Dead(I think it's a bad show, but I'm committed, and not nearly strong enough mentally to stop) As for Terry's RBI record...I don't know, I'm not sure OOTP keeps playoff records like that. Ill look around in game to see if i can find anything |

1923-24 Offseason News and Notes
The offseason starts out with a bit of a blockbuster trade. Brooklyn trades away 25 year old Oscar Charleston, who was the first man to hit 30 home runs. His HR record stood for 1 season, but he’s hit 135 so far, good for 4th on the all-time list. The Indians and the AL pick up some power. The Robins get 2 decent players back, and ratings wise, it looks fairly even, but Charleston seems to outperform his ratings regularly. LeRoy Jones goes first overall to the Boston Braves. Loads of potential, but he isn’t there yet. The Phillies continue to build the greatest offense ever, drafting catcher Jimmie Foxx. Foxx turned sixteen 11 days before the draft. He’s pretty raw, but catcher is a spot the Phillies actually could have used an upgrade for. So, the offense will continue to improve, and the pitching will continue to suffer. ![]() ![]() ![]() 2 truly great players are inducted into the Hall of Fame. Sam Crawford had a great career, and won the World Series in 1912, while Nap Lajoie was baseball’s best 2nd baseman, whose 1901 season, is still, in my mind, the greatest season we’ve seen. Ty Cobb has been traded. Cobb won’t have to move, as he’s now a member of the Red Sox. The Braves did not get to much for Cobb, but I can’t imagine a 37 year old injury prone Cobb is worth a whole lot. He’s still a very good player though. This will help the Sox. Why are the Phillies so bad? THEY DO STUFF LIKE THIS! Showboat Fisher, whose hit .371, .408 and .371 over the last 3 years is traded, at age 25, to the Washington Senators, for Earle Brucker, whose a 5 star prospect. Here’s the problem. HE’S A CATCHER, WHO WENT 5th OVERALL IN THIS SEASONS DRAFT. YOU JUST DRAFTED JIMMIE FOXX, A BETTER CATCHER, 2ND! YOU STILL DON’T HAVE ANY PITCHING, YOU HAVE ONE LESS STUD IN THE OUTFIELD, AND NOW YOU HAVE A CATCHER YOU’LL NEVER USE! |

The fictional 1920 Phillies are the same as the real life 1920's Phillies
![]() Foxx, Gehrig,Suttles (formerly) Fisher and a Pitching staff that consists of winning ticket holders who show up to the park early! I think Fisher simply said "Trade me or I stay home" I would, if on that team. I would state that the Foxx trade would make since, as he has 1B ratings, but...they have LOU GEHRIG! As for playoff records, go to single game records in the history index, the drop box up top should let you change it to Playoffs, you can also see xtra inning records. 1924 Regular Season
As the season gets underway, I see Chief Bender has retired. It’s a shame, as a series of injuries beginning in June of 1919 effectively ended the career we were witnessing. He ended up being sidelined for about 20 months during a 3 year stretch, and never approached the success he had during his wonderful career. His 368 wins is 3rd all time, but it easily could have been much more. Here’s a look at his career. ![]() Mule Suttles, on his way to another wonderful season(with lowered ratings, but still pretty high) goes down with a Torn Back muscle. He’s out for the remainder of the season. This will effect the Phillies fortunes in no way. They will still allow 6 runs a game and lose most of their games. Aug 9th- 37 year old Ty Cobb gets hit 3500. He’s hitting .304 with the Red Sox, and isn’t very good in the field any more, but he can still hit. He’s 3 decent seasons away from the hits record. September 1st- the Brooklyn Robins are close doing what they have never done. In the replays 24th season, the franchise has never made the World Series. Brooklyn and the Philadelphia Athletics are the only 2 teams without a pennant. The A’s are not going to win one this year, but in the NL, it’s Brooklyns to lose. They have a 4 game lead on the 2nd place Cubs. Brooklyn blew it. Chicago overtook them pretty easily, and coasted to the pennant. ![]() Charleston leads his new league in home runs, but wouldn't be in the top 3 in the NL. ![]() Babe Ruth takes advantage of the Suttles injury to lead baseball in home runs again. Close to his old record. Lou Gehrig hits .412 as a 21 year old, and Dutch Leonard wins pitchings Triple Crown! |

1924 Awards
![]() These are 1952 Topps cards, and I think they look awesome. I’m not so worried with sticking with era appropriate cards here. These are older, but I don’t care. I love em. I’ll probably switch card types every 10 years or so. Harry Heilmann wins his 5th straight AL MVP, and 6th overall. Ed Delahanty won 7. Babe Ruth also steals his first MVP from Lou Gehrig. It’s a close battle, neither players teams had a good season… I’d probably give it to Gehrig. |
