As for the one tune up. I try that, but they have to land on the same scheduled month as their opponent and if they don't after the tune up then I put them in tough and sometimes they lose, or they still aren't scheduled on the same month. It's tough, but these things can happen. Perhaps I'll just stick with what I've been doing.

(WBO) David Haye 24-0-2 (16) vs Luis Ortiz 44-8-2 (26)
(2nd Defense)

Ortiz fought well in the opening round behind his heavy southpaw jab, Haye turned the tide early in the second with a pulverizing right hand and he used his speed to pot shot Luis with powerful right hands that dominated the second and third stanzas and left the Cuban with a rapidly swelling left eye.

They went toe to toe in the fourth without a clear winner and the challenger buckled Haye's legs with two hard uppercuts during a strong fifth frame. Haye boxed well using movement in round six and he floored Ortiz late in round seven with a booming lead right hand.

From there the former champion lost juice and couldn't catch up with Haye, David was content to stick and move past the eleventh when he put down Ortiz for a four count with a counter hook and cruised in the final round to defend with a wide UD. 118-109 x2 & 117-110


Samuel Peter 22-4-1 (17) vs Thiago Vasques 27-10-3 (15)

Vasques followed up his upset victory over Fabio Maldonado with another game effort, pasting peter on the inside in rounds three and five, but the Nigerian displayed a granite chin and he hurt Thiago several times with right hands, including in the final round, and he managed to pull out the tough UD. 97-93, 96-94 & 96-95


Tony Thompson 21-0-1 (13) vs Carl Davis Drumond 35-6-1 (20)

Drumond took Dominick Guinn's '0', all he took here was a beating, Tony's unorthodox combinations opened bad cuts over both eyes and had Carl's left shut when the referee stopped the one sided affair due to the facial damage in round seven.


Chris Arreola 29-2-1 (26) vs Mariusz Wach 27-10-1 (17)

Rematch: Wach TKO3

Arreola rebounded from his second loss by eradicating his first. While it appears Wach has seen his best days, he fought evenly over five rounds before tiring and Arreola busted up his face and floored him in rounds eight and nine before the ref stepped in late in the ninth.


Audley Harrison 18-1 (16) vs Taras Bydenko 18-2 (5)

Bydenko used his legs to control the first three rounds, in the fourth Audley connected with a heavy left hand that turned the tide. Harrison also had big rounds in the sixth and seventh but he faded down the stretch and Bydenko won the tight UD. 96-94 x3


Kubrat Pulev 45-10-1 (22) vs Shane Cameron 28-3 (18)

Cameron started quickly and he dropped Pulev late in the opening round with a right hand. By the end of the sixth Kubrat's left eye was badly swollen from Shane's repeated right hands. 'The Cobra' mounted a furious rally that ended with him pummeling Cameron in the final round to the point that the ref was looking closely at the bell. The early work netted Shane the upset UD as Kubrat continues to fade. 95-92, 95-93 & 94-93

Brock was unwilling to engage and the early rounds alternated between tight stanzas and Magomed dominating.In round seven the Russian scored with a nasty double uppercut that put Brock down for a seven count just before the bell.

Somehow this inspired the American and he hurt Magomed three times with brutal right hands during an incredibly lopsided round eight. Calvin stunned the Russian twice more in round nine with left hooks that drew severe swelling from Abdusalamov's right eye. They traded heavily down the stretch with Magomed dominating the eleventh with crushing shots and then holding on as Brock took the fight to him in round twelve. Erkan hurt the Russian with a right hand in the opening round and he left it all out there looking for a stoppage. Povetkin survived and began to drill Teper with nasty combos before flooring him with a hook early in round four and forcing the stoppage later in that round with a barrage of blows while Erkan was virtually helpless in the corner.

Chazz floored his giant rival with a sizzling hook a minute into the fight and Witherspoon jumped right on him with a flurry of shots until a short right hand put Alexander down for the count right at the two minute mark of round one.

Williamson dropped Travis in the opening round with a vicious left hook, Walker was up at six and he returned the favor in round three with a wicked overhand right. Travis hurt him twice with left hands in the fifth and was lighting DaVarryl up in round six when 'Touch Of Sleep' lived up to his nickname by putting Walker down and out with a single right hand.

The former longtime IBO titlist went 4-0 this year, defeating Leif Larsen(KO9), Ahmed Samir(UD10) and getting off the canvas to ice Matt Skelton in eight rounds. Then he defeated Calvin Brock(UD12) to get himself a shot at David Haye and the WBO strap in January.

Haye opened the year claiming the vacant WBO crown when he emphatically ended a war of words with Tyson Fury by knocking him out in a single round. David closed the year with wide unanimous decision defenses against Lateef Kayode and former World Champion Luis Ortiz.

This time last year Arreola was the 'Baddest Man on the Planet', after the defeat to Ibragimov he rebounded by avenging his only other defeat by stopping Mariusz Wach(TKO9) before getting beat up by Perez.

Povetkin followed up his tight win over Perez with a UD10 over Pedro Carrion. After being stopped in eleven rounds by Calvin Brock the Russian closed the year ending his trilogy with Erkan Teper on a winning note(TKO4).

Perez forced the fight in what may be his last chance at glory and it led to an exciting bout, Mike hurt the champion in the second and fourth rounds with potent hooks while Ibragimov used his jab to control things around the power shots and he busted open the Cubans left eye with a double jab in a dominant sixth round.

The sight of blood inspired the champion during an explosive seventh round where he tagged Ismaikel with punishing combinations but Perez stormed back in the next two rounds with nasty hooks to the body and uppercuts to the head. The final three rounds were very methodical but it seemed that Perez did a bit more with some strong left hands. After the tight UD went his way, 116-113, 115-113 & 115-114, Perez dropped to his hands and knees and sobbed after a long career at the top finally left him holding championship gold!

Wembley stadium hosted a huge domestic battle for a world title but Skelton couldn't deal with the speed of Haye as David potshotted him throughout the contest including knockdowns in the sixth and ninth rounds. Matt opened a cut over Haye's left eye in round eleven and he won the final round as 'The Hayemaker' protected it, but the champion retaining by UD was a mere formality. 118-108 x3


Steve Cunningham 22-0 (5) vs Artur Szpilka 42-12-3 (30)

Cunningham struggled with the veteran southpaw and he lost a point for a low blow in round one, but the American scored with enough right hands and exhibited his sound defense to the point of escaping via SD over the the disappointed Szpilka. 95-94 x2 & 94-95


Tye Fields 17-0 (14) vs Deontay Wilder 41-12-1 (32)

Fields was the next undefeated fighter to take on Wilder and he cut Deontay over his left eye in the opening round before dropping him twice in the third and again in the fifth. With defeat looming, Wilder landed a huge right hand in round six and he dropped Fields with another late in the stanza.

That was Wilder's last stand and Fields promptly regained control and dropped Deontay for the fourth time in the final round to secure an impressive UD, 98-88 x2 & 98-89, that marked the end of Wilder's career.


Eric Kirkland 20-0 (12) vs Jonathan Pasi 24-25-2 (6)

Kirkland dominated from the outset until he floored Pasi three times in round six to remain undefeated.

Sam dropped the former strap holder with an uppercut in round two, and, though Garret fought well at times, Sinan was able to comfortably secure his biggest win via UD. 98-92 x3
