Hey now, the Tigers hit five dingers yesterday and didn't give up a single one. They still lost by 7, but they didn't give up a home run.

OOTP folks, as you've probably seen, have put out a promotional email touting Curt's participation here. I hope this was done with permission; I wouldn't want Curt or any other current or former baseball professionals being hesitant about participating/revealing their identities for fear of being 'used' for promotional purposes.

Sorry if this is a thread derail. Carry on, its a great thread.

I never even thought to do this... wow and I've been playing this game for something like 7 years! haha But say I have a 2 pitch stud 19 year old, if I go in and add a 3rd pitch and make it like a 20/100 will it automatically suggest that he be a starter? If he has something like a 6 stamina will that increase over time? I've never really noticed how stamina changes season to season, I usually end up doing 1 and done's then restarting.

But before that, how I found OOTP.
My first 'game' ever, was Panzerblitz, when I was 11. Played all day long, by myself. My first sports game was APBA baseball and I can remember ordering that thing, and coming home from school every single day checking the mailbox, literally sitting outside on weekends waiting on the mail.
My cousin and I had THOUSANDS of notebooks with millions of stats, I kept stats for everything.
Been a gamer my whole life, computer sims were the next step. Played them all to some degree but I am a realism fanatic, and this was the first game I ever felt 'got it' to the degree I love.
So my new league, 16 teams, starting out using 1990 data.
I took the Sox, the Red ones...
Have a HS, JUCO and College feeder league.
Here's the funny part, I have news set to entire world and I love it. I went through the 20 JUCOS, 50 Colleges, and 100 high schools and after I got my schools, and schools I knew, I named them all after either nationally ranked HS, or JUCO's, and created college conferences based on the real things. Broken into divisions, but now I get daily news and when a medfield kid punches out 15 it's cool, and way more personal. When a kid from Yavapai gets 5 hits it feels more real, very cool.
And I can also follow these kids from early on. Just saw a HS kid punch out 20 in 9, with a potential 21/16/15 rating! Great stuff.
The big leagues is stacked with talent.
Also figured out my work around with 2 pitch guys.
In the Editor I give them a logical 3rd pitch, guys with good stamina, but a horrid rating with medium upside on the pitch, so they develop into starters. I only do that with the 'bigger' kids mostly (actually only done it once so far)
Enjoying this.
Are you editing these pitchers while they're still in HS and College? I've never used feeder leagues, but this thread has me interested in giving them a shot..

Feeder leagues can't be used with historical leagues can they? If I started in the 80s would I see real players playing in hs and college, or are those guys already programmed to just pop up for a draft with the ratings that the dev's have given them?

Also FWIW... I play in an APBA league, we play in Milford Mass twice a month, might have a team opening up for next season....

I didn't see it listed in the patch notes but the Feeder League Service Time Accumulation issue has been fixed.

Wow, irony...as I was just talking to Jason Martinez (MLBdepthcharts.com) , Doug Glanville, Jayson Stark and the site I write for baseballreflections.com on Twitter about Curt's new stat...and previously Gloanville had a laugh at me for recalling BillBong the dwarven paladin that Curt killed by running away akin to Monty Pythin and the Holy Grail

Yes, I am name dropping, but this thread has 247 replies, so no stones shall be thrown!

Anyway, Curt...You are just like every geek, we all had the "Notebook" as I had Tommy Lasorda baseball, then Tony LaRussa and World Series Baseball...and yup Ken Griffey Jr. where I had the Phillies with Darren Daulton, Ricky Jordan, Steve Jeltz, Von Hayes and this frustrating pitcher who would walk as many as he K'd...I am sure you knew him..lol

That out of the way, glad you are enjoying the game...and maybe with the the success of the immersive RECKONING GAME...you may open up a sports division of 38studios? The time would be optimal with a NFL and now a definite NBA lockout...people need virtual sports more than ever

With Curt being such a big fan of micro managing and rpg (mmorpg or whatever they call it?), maybe he could work something out with the company to get ITP back up and running

Easy tip on this one

1-start a league
2-erase all players
3- set age limit to max of 20
4- import fictional players
5- go back and reset the max age to 0

doneQ!

Also, if YOU want to select the HOF instead of the AI....set all criteria to 0

BTW,

Can I say that ALL of us are now the guy in Hall Pass when he says

"Curt Schilling has been in my safe room...because I know him"

Now pound the potato while I tie my sweater around my neck like it's 1984

The reason above for only 2 years in college was, before the patch, feeder league players got ML service time so after 6 years (4 HS 2 COL) they became a FA.

Last example to look for is a HSer drafted who didn't sign and went on to a JUCO.

I'm lovin' this game

One last bit of info...

Had a guy play 4 years of HS, go undrafted and go on to a JUCO for 2 years, go undrafted and play his JR and SR years in College and is in the draft again. He is persistent. First example I have seen of one guy playing HS, JUCO, and COL. Don't think he will be drafted though, not very good.

I haven't noticed any patterns in stamina increasing or decreasing organically in my solo league in v.11. I play on a 1-20 scale so I may not see the minute changes. I don't have any idea if giving a 2-pitch pitcher a 3rd pitch will affect the future development of his stamina. Note that this is the type of thing that I think people would notice, and I haven't heard of anything along these lines occuring in other people's games.

I too was a big fan of ITP and was really looking forward to it being developed further.

For you guys that let your fictional leagues run for 5+ years before jumping in as a manager, how do you get a job offer that is not for the low minors?
