Now I'm hoping Berkman and Kearns don't upset the balance. It looks like Granderson and Posada will be the AB-losers in the shift and both of those guys have been swinging the bat well recently. I just hope we don't see Berkman at 1B too often, however. I know Teixeira needs a breather once in a while, but I just saw Berkman have a pop fly go off his glove, a play I think Tex could have made. They don't call Berkman "Fat Elvis" for nothing, you know.

Here's the way I was hoping Girardi would use Berkman and Kearns:
vs R Gardner LF Granderson CF Berkman DH vs L Kearns LF Gardner CF Thames DH Get Granderson back to only hitting against righties. The experiment has failed IMO.

So far, I'm not liking any of the deadline trades. It's more than just "oh, you can't tell from just a few games." Sure, of course. It's just that I don't like the looks of any of them. They seem like retread has-beens who are going to take playing time away from some younger, better players.

Which younger, better players would those be? Colin Curtis? Juan Miranda? Kevin Russo? Chad Huffman? Those are all guys who never really showed much in the minors and are no longer young enough to expect any dramatic improvement. I'm not going to shed any tears about them getting pushed to the bottom of the 40 man roster. The only guy on the major league roster now who you could say is blocking a legitimate prospect from getting playing time is Francesco Cervelli, and I'm just fine with that in the short term.

![]() Granderson's been crappy against lefthanders recently and Posada is certainly not a young guy (although I think he's a better hitter than Berkman at this stage of their careers). I was thinking more of Gardiner, but I think he gets into almost all games anyway at either CF or LF. Still, none of these new guys have impressed me at all so far. Berkman in particular makes me cringe to look at him at first base. And, I'm worried about team chemistry, whatever that is. The Yanks were going good until the end of July. |

Relax. It's a five game chunk of a 162 game season. Everything's fine.

Lance Berkman has finally managed to hit something...
Unfortunately it was Alex Rodriguez

Yes, he just got booed for his 2 (singles) for 22 Yankee performance so far. Think he's having second thoughts about waiving his no trade clause yet?

Had to revive this thread
The Yanks have been on a roll lately, which is good because so have the Rays. It's going to be a very interesting September. Here's a bit of news I found interesting... Quote:
