MLB news: Sept. 26 -- San Diego claims crown in NL West

The San Diego Padres defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 10-2 to earn the championship of the National League West Division.
The Padres (87-72) lead the second-place Colorado Rockies by 4.5 games with three games left in the regular season.

The postseason appearance is the second in a row for the Padres, while the division crown is their first since 2006.
San Diego, which has never won a World Series, last reached the Fall Classic in 1998 when they were defeated by the New York Yankees.
