William P. Young
William P. Young was a catcher for the Homestead Grays in the 1920's. These photos don't exactly picture him during his playing years, but at least they don't show him with white hair as in the earlier photo I posted, nor in an umpire's uniform with his face barely visible as in the other previous photo. The photo in the center and on the right are from 1953; they capture him in a discussion with Roy Campanella about catching techniques.

Elisha Scott
Elisha Scott was an executive with the Negro National League. He co-drafted the constitution of the Negro National League in 1920. This is a much better photo of him than the one I had posted earlier.

Frank Blattner
Frank Blattner, 1B/OF, is shown in the uniform of the Kansas City Monarchs. The photo of Frank posted previously on this thread showed him in an unidentified uniform. I now believe that the previous photo was a head shot from this same photo, so it also depicted him in a Monarchs uniform.

Palmer Hubbard
Palmer Hubbard, OF, is shown in the uniform of the Kansas City Monarchs. Palmer was with the Monarchs from 1958 through 1960. I had posted this same image previously, thinking it was a utility infielder named Larry Hubbard. I made that error because the first time I saw the team photo, it was labelled "1956 Monarchs." I now believe it's a photo of the 1958 Monarchs. My current source specifies that the player named Hubbard is indeed Palmer Hubbard. The first source simply said "Hubbard."

Willie White
Willie White, OF, is shown in the uniform of the Kansas City Monarchs. I've been unable to find any evidence that a Bill or Willie or William White played for the Monarchs around 1958. There was an outfielder William "Bill" White who played for the Memphis Red Sox in 1958 and 1959. Because this team photo of the Monarchs was shot in Florida in 1958 before the club headed north, it wouldn't surprise me if this Willie White was the same one who landed with the Memphis team once the season started. But I can't prove it, so it's mere speculation at this point.

Carl Long, OF, is shown as an older man in a Birmingham Black Barons jersey. The photo of Carl posted previously showed him during his playing years, but it was in an unidentified uniform. Carl was the first Afro-American to play in the Carolina League, breaking the color barrier there. Carl died three days ago on January 12.

Mule Armstrong
George I. "Mule" or "Army" Armstrong, C, is shown in an unidentified uniform. Mule was a catcher for the Chicago Giants in 1913. The Negro Baseball Register, by Clark and Lester, had him listed as Unknown-first-name Armstrong.

Bull Barbour
Elmore "Bull" Barbour, 1B, is shown in an unidentified uniform. According to Seamheads.com, Bull played for the Pittsburgh Keystones in 1921 and 1922. Clark and Lester have it a bit differently for this player in their Negro Baseball Register. They list a "Bull" Barber, a second baseman, who was with Hilldale, the Kansas City Monarchs, and the Harrisburg Giants during the 1920-25 period. The spelling of the surname doesn't bother me, because I've seen Jess Barber and Jess Barbour used interchangeably. Furthermore, James Riley had Jess Barber/Barbour with the Pittsburgh Keystones in 1922, and Clark/Lester apparently picked up many of their entries from his encyclopedia, so it appears that there was historical confusion between the two Barbours/Barbers. Seamheads does not show the Keystones as part of Jess Barber's career. All of this is a long way of saying that I think that this photo represents the intended player by the name of "Bull" Barber/Barbour.

Joaquin Barcelo
Joaquin Barcelo, P, is shown in the uniform of the Cuban Stars. This is a closer view of his face than the photo I posted previously. Also, thanks to Seamheads.com, I now know his first name. Earlier, I referred to him as Unknown-first-name Barcelo.
