What a great reward they get for winning!

Re: the play-in game - granted that no one watches the actual game itself. But part of the tournament's appeal is watching the little schools trying to knock off the big schools. So rather than eliminate one at-large bid, the NCAA in its limitless wisdom decided to create the play-in game, to ensure that more mediocre teams like Stanford could get an at-large bid. Anyway, I'm sure Florida A&M is thrilled to have been "in the tournament". And I'm sure Niagara appreciates having only one day (if that) to prep for a game with a #1 seed. That's fair. |

Well I changed around my bracket after more thinking, and here's what I'm coming up with. Hopefully andy, marc, or someone else can help me out here with my personal conclusions:
-The Big East is stronger than indicated, and the ACC is weaker than indicated. I know I'm wrong based on andy's favorite site (pomeroy), but I feel like the entire ACC is "average to above average" while the Big East has more legit teams in Notre Dame, Georgetown, Louisville and Pittsburgh. I don't think UNC is the #1 team in the country, and consider Ohio State, Florida, Kansas, and Georgetown better than them. If teams like Virginia and BC can compete for the division title, it's not that strong of a conference. I think Texas can take out UNC in a one game format, and I think Georgetown will come out of the East. I have the other three #1 seeds making it to the final four. The final four is where I'm stuck, as right now I have Georgetown and Kansas winning. Georgetown vs. Ohio State should be an excellent matchup if it happens, and I remember marc complaining Ohio State's guards don't tend to get Oden the ball. Meanwhile, Georgetown's Green is taking over, and Hibbard is as polished as can be. I have Kansas/Georgetown making it to the championship, and I don't know who to pick. I want to pick Georgetown, but I feel like this Kansas team is the team to beat, and will probably wind up picking Kansas to win the whole thing.

I really can't argue much with that. I promised myself I wouldn't send OSU to the final 4 so I have TAM coming out of that region due to the last 2 games being played in San Antonio.
I have Texas over UNC and Georgetown coming out of the East just like you do and I also have Kansas and Florida in the Final 4. I have Florida over Georgetown in the championship game. I've went back and forth all week on the Lville/Stanford and Illinois/V. Tech games but I ended up going with the underdogs in both. UNC is going to make or break a lot of peoples brackets. I think they have been the most inconsistent of the 1 seeds but I also think their talent level is insanely high and that they will beat just about anyone if they bring their "A" game. |

We seem to have the same bracket. I chickened out and put Wisconsin over Georgia Tech, while Illinois is giving me absolute fits. I've been very tempted to have Stanford over Louisville, but I think that would go against my "Big East is teh best" rally chant I've been giving myself.
I can't figure out this Illinois team. I think they can handle Virginia Tech, but this Southern Illinois game is killing me. Luckily whoever wins will get knocked out by Kansas, so it won't hurt too much. Any reasons why you pick Florida over Kansas?

No good one really. The only thing that came to my head was that Kansas already beat Florida and that beating them 2 out of 2 would be pretty difficult even if they haven't played in a few months. I also just think Florida has been through this before and has the experience edge to go along with the best starting 5 in America. Kansas's depth could be a problem for them though. It was really a toss up for me. |

You guys are putting too much thought into to the point of over thinking everything. I always fill out my bracket as soon as I see it before I start reading all kinds of stuff or pouring over the numbers to much to the point that they might get into my head too much. In the end, anything can happen on a given night.

This is the first time in my life I haven't filled out even one bracket. No online contests, no office pools, not even one just for fun.

I don't listen to any analysts or really read anything about the teams. Some games I'm just really torn on and I try and go over in my head what I've seen from each of them over the course of the season. In all honesty, 90% of my bracket took about 2 minutes, it was just a few games that I couldn't decide. I agree though, anything can happen and watching more basketball or having more basketball knowledge really doesn't help all that much when it comes to filling a bracket out. |

I put Zona in the final 4, losing to UCLA... That might hurt me bad.

I think we need four different threads this year. One for each region to help find things easier.
