Although this is a minor league image it's much clearer than the Major League image currently in the Facepack and on his B-R.com page.

Topps Vault Minor Leaguers

Put four of them - including Larry Jaster's brother and Hal Jeffcoat's son - in the minor league thread, along with a 1972 Cleveland Indian who's stumped me, if anybody wants to take a swing at him:

The ears don't lie--it's Javier.

I think the Cardinals' pitcher is lefty Danny Jaster (Larry's younger brother). I've attached a B&W photo I found at Amazon for comparison (actually has the same Spring uniform number as well).

Danny played in the St. Louis system from 1965 through 1972, including 3 straight years from '70-'72 at their AAA Tulsa club. He would have had plenty opportunities to be snapped by a Topps photographer over the course of at least a few Spring Trainings, I'm guessing.

Reposting

I realize that Topps Vault is an endless buffet for us but we all - myself included - need to be more careful about reposting.

I put up the three Jeffersons yesterday. They're reposted today. I put up Al Javier last night and tnfoto confirmed the ID and there's Javier again with the request for an identification - along with another image which I mentioned in another post that I had ID'd in the minor league thread.

The three players above are:
- Cardinals lefty: Danny Jaster, 1972 (Larry's brother)
- Mets righty: Roy Lee Jackson. Looks like 1977 or 1978.
- Astros: Al Javier.

Topps Vault

First, I am happy to see Merkle back and the culture change that has come with it. I was pretty worried there for a while that this thread would die.

I would also like to echo the sentiment below that Topps Vault does provide a lot of excitement for us all and that I would not want to endanger our access to those images.

With that being said and to respond to the reposts; is there really any point to posting any of them here? I mean we all pretty much go there and grab the images. Now here lately, there seems to be a race in posting them. I dunno.... unless we are asking for identification, I just wonder why any of them should be posted. Please, lets not lose this very fortunate privilege that we have.

Jeff

Come to think of it, maybe there are good reasons to post them. What I enjoy most from Merkle's posts are the historical pieces of information that he includes that I would not be aware of unless he shared them. So please disregard my reference to why TV images would need to be posted.

Posting them here

Since they're not identified by name at the web hosting site, posting them here allows clarification as to who we're looking at.

I wasn't confident of two ID's myself just yesterday and our esteemed moderator came to my aid, once with biographical research and once with facial characteristic forensics! There are two photos of a 1969 Dodger on the minor league thread that it took several of us a couple of weeks to identify.

In several other cases ID's have been requested (and in at least one case we collectively correctly identified a player in an image Topps then put on eBay under a different player's name).

The Jacquezs: Like Father, Like Son

Here's a photo of Thomas Jacquez, the son of Pat Jacquez,
pictured on page 1206, section 22101. Both were pitchers
from Stockton, California, although Pat was a righty and
Tom was a lefty. Oddly enough, both made it to the majors
for less than a month. Pat was with the Chicago White Sox
briefly in April 1971 and Tom's only MLB experience came
in September 2000 with the Philadelphia Phillies.
