Manfred Ackers career of futility
Ackers 2nd career win comes against some guy named S Argirios. No nationality given in boxRec. His fight with Ackers his only career bout. I did some searching of the name Argirios and came up with some Greek connections, so I've put his nationality as Greece, but probably that's not right. Who knows. These kind of 1 bout boxers, you don't really no much what to do rating them because you can't really test them. So here is S Argirios to pad your stable of "tomato cans".
S Argirios Rating 1 Greece? Heavyweight 1965 0 wins / 1 loss / 0 draws / 0 KO Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Not sure of the nationality of Argirios. Only fight in BoxRec was a 4 round decision loss to Manfred Ackers in Frankfurt, Germany on April 30th, 1965. |

Carlos Marks
Trial horse middleweight from Trinidad who kept getting title shots. Fought from 1965 to 1982. Record: 23-39-2 (3).
Marks lost four Commonwealth middleweight championship bouts: twice to Tony Mundine (August 1973 by KO, September 1973 by decision) and twice to Monty Bentham (July 1975 and July 1976, both by decision). He also lost a December 1978 fight for something called the WBC Fecarbox middleweight title when he was knocked out by Fulgencio Obelmejias.

Futile Careers
I think I've found the fighter that trumps your one Rocco... his name is Reggie Strickland, CW. How this guy gets a license is anyone's guess.

Done
Thanks, Rocco. It ain't easy finding fighters who have been rated in this forum. The search function stinks. And of course the forum was moved from one host to another.
Cornerwork is the best single resource for created fighters, but the Fighter Pack is the mode of choice over there. And how do you find an individual fighter in the various Packs? So if you have any of the fighters from the to-do list already in your database please post or repost them here. Or send them to me privately, if you'd prefer. Mucho thanks.

Jose Manuel Duran
I have taken Rocco's subtle advice and been working my way through old New Heavyweight and New Non-HW Fighters Added posts. Here is one that I found.
Jose Manuel Duran, the Spanaird who fought from 1967 to 1978 and held the WBA and EBU junior middleweight crowns, was rated in June 2004 by Mark Elwood. I am reposting him here.

I feel for your frustration I'm sure at times finding out who may have been rated already. I've tried as best as possible to watch this forum as often as possible each day just to see what new pops up because these fighters are scattered around several posts. LIke you said to, you've also got them over at cornerwork which the fighter packs are great in some ways but in other ways you got to watch close what's in them and need to take the time to look through what's in them. My favorite lovable loser was Danny Wofford. How he was able to haul that frame of his out there so often is truely a marvel. (he was pushing 260lbs at the end) He can't match Strickland's productivity, but on a pounds hauled into the ring per year basis, he might be close.

EBU/Commonwealth heavyweight fighter pack
The first pack of European and British Commonwealth fighters has been sent to Gunsmoke for posting at Cornerwork. It contains sixty heavyweights, including every man who fought in an EBU or Commonwealth heavyweight title bout from 1945 to 1975. Also included are a number of other interesting European and Commonwealth heavies from the same era, several of whom were national champs.
This was the easiest pack to complete, primarily because I did almost none of the work! Only seventeen of the 60 boxers were rated by me; the rest were created by Rocco, Mark, Lee, and Tiger Fan. Here is a complete list. Where not indicated otherwise, the fighter was rated by me: Thörner Ċhsman Santo Amonti Dennis Avoth Piermario Baruzzi Joveci Bau (--LeeSkye) Enrico Bertola Ken Brady (--LeeSkye) Morrie Bush Benito Canal (--Rocco Del Sesto) Dante Canè (--Rocco Del Sesto) Barry Chalker (--LeeSkye) Alain Cherville (--Rocco Del Sesto) Rudy Crivic (--LeeSkye) Raymond Degl'Innocenti Gawie de Klerk (-- / Rocco Del Sesto) Franco DePiccoli Robert Duquesne Remington Dynaty (--Rocco Del Sesto) Mariano Echevarria (--Rocco Del Sesto) Robert Eugene (--Tiger Fan) Hans Friedrich (--Rocco Del Sesto) Carl Gizzi Klaus Peter Gumpert (--Rocco Del Sesto) Hans Jörgen Jacobsen Ross Jenkins (--LeeSkye) Hans Kalbfell (--Rocco Del Sesto) Wilson Kohlbrecher (--Rocco Del Sesto) Arno Kolblin (--Mark Elwood) Kitione Lave (--Rocco Del Sesto) Bjarne Lingaas (--Rocco Del Sesto) Danny McAlinden (--Rocco Del Sesto) Gerry McDermott Horst Niche Lars Olov Norling (--Rocco Del Sesto) Günther Nürnberg Stephane Olek (--Rocco Del Sesto) Del Phillips (--Chris ) Johnny Prescott (--Rocco Del Sesto) Christian Poncelet Arno Prick (--Mark Elwood) Isimeli Radrodro (--LeeSkye) Johnny Ralph Paul Albert Renet Guiseppe Ros (--Mark Elwood) Giulio Saraudi (--Rocco Del Sesto) Bruno Scarabellin (--Rocco Del Sesto) Plinio Scarabellin (--Rocco Del Sesto) Paddy Slavin Simon Templar Bernard Thebault (--Rocco Del Sesto) Roger Tighe Piero Tomasini (--Rocco Del Sesto) Lion Ven (--Rocco Del Sesto) Vittorio Verrengia (--Rocco Del Sesto) Jo Weiden (--Mark Elwood) Werner Wiegand (--Rocco Del Sesto) Allen Williams (--LeeSkye) Jim Woods (--LeeSkye) Gerhard Zech (--Rocco Del Sesto) Steve Zoranich (--LeeSkye) Thanks to all of the above for rating these "foreign" heavies, and making my work so much easier! Although some of these fighters may be included in other packs at Cornerwork, I thought it made sense to gather them into a single convenient place. If that offends anyone, please excuse me in advance!

Manfred Ackers career of futility
After his victory over Argirlos, Ackers then lost to Giuseppe Ros in May 1965. A little more then a month later he fought another German HW, Manfred Markgraf. Ackers would loose that fight to Markgraf. Ackers then finished out the year 1965 loosing in repeat fights to both Ros and Markgraf.
Manfred Markgraf Rating 2 Germany Heayweight 1965-67 9 wins / 2 losses / 1 draw / 2 KO Birthplace: Berlin, Germany Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Beat Manfred Ackers twice and drew once with him. Also beat Manfred Schlesinger, Roland Graetz, Andre Wyns, Peter Schulze, Valere Mahau, and Emil Svaricek. Lost to a Raimo Nisula and Peter Weiland in his Markgraf's last fight. |

Manfred Ackers career of futility
A correction from my last posting. Ackers 2nd fight with Manfred Markgraf in December 1965 ended in a draw in the 4 round bout.
Ackers starts out 1966 with an 8 round decison loss to Danilo Zoratti. Just a bit over a week after that fight on Feb. 4th, he wins his 3rd fight, a 6 round decision over Roland Graetz. Three weeks after that fight Ackers goe up against a new guy we'll meet, Manfred Schneider, another German HW who hands Ackers yet another 4 round decision loss. Manfred Schneider Rating 3 Germany Heavyweight 1954-66 12 wins / 3 losses / 3 draws / 5 KO Birthplace: Frankfurt am Main, Germany Manager: Walter Englert Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Schneider fought from 1954 to 59 then was out of the ring until February 1966 when he came back to fight Manfred Ackers. Schneider won the 4 round decision. He then fought Rudolf Nehring in April that year to a 6 round draw, then hung the gloves up for good. During the main part of his career, one of his losses was to Mario de Persio in 1955 who was making his pro debute. Other opponents were a draw and win against Albert Duscha, a win against Andre Wynes and a 5th round DQ loss to Erwin Hack in his last fight in May 1959 before leaving the ring until 1966. |
