After 2 months of negative WAR and negative WPA, StL looks to deal Ozzie Albies.

Quote:
This was the best offer available. I was looking for a RF to meet the owner goal, but Nick is the most upgrade. I'm not kidding, Baltimore has a another 2B that is better, and younger.

Quote:
Done. I'm a little surprised that BAL didn't ask for more, given that they're taking on a contract at a position they already have a cost-controlled starter, but it still seems realistic enough given their position of surplus.

Quote:
Albies will DH and bat leadoff for the Bombers as they look to close the gap on DC.

Quote:
Gonzales will start at 2B and bat 2nd for the Shires.

Now, I have a Gonzalez with a Z, and a Gonzales with an S. There's no way I'm going to keep those two straight. Oscar G and Nick G.

This trade just keeps getting better.

The trade also allows StL to max out player development and double their draft money. Looking ta the draft there are no less than 8 identified players that are projected to be elite. This draft seems deep.

Trying to meet all these goals.

Making the playoffs, of course, is the goal I'm most focused on.

I'm not too eager to try and upgrade RF, presently Oscar G has an OPS of .726, exactly league average, but is a great platoon part (at RF/1B) with .880 OPS vLHP.

I knew Scherzer would easily fulfill the hometown player bit, and it's a nice story given the history and desire of the fans. I did not expect Scherzer to produce as much as he has, and was prepared to accept his decline, injury, and eventual retirement. It's been a major plus.

Looked into Anthony's production and at mid-month his BABIP was .466, certainly not sustainable and likely headed for serious regression.

Been working on a couple of problems ...

[1] Stolen Bases are out of control, and my team is one of the teams that is benefitting the most ..... where some games look like 10U baseball, where if you get on base, you're at least going to wind up at 2nd, and probably more. Some teams have 3.5 SBA per game, which is not realistic, nor balanced ... and the "singles and stolen bases" teams are getting an exploit.

[2] Almost no GIDP. DP are destructive/exhilarating depending on which teams hit into it. They're not super common, but regular enough ... and they were a major factor in the 80s.

I went to do the following work some time ago, but the multiple season feature at FG was being goofy, but it worked this time ....

The 1980s, league totals. Then converted to per game, then translated to NABO48 size and scale. This was the original idea, but I did not have the FG datya to scale, so I used the league totals from selecting each year in the OOTP on the Stats and AI tab, but without the scaling.

So, here's the OOTP league totals ...

Stat Modifiers ...

Position modifiers ...

So far, so good. In 19 TG, my runners have 18 SB with 10 CS. It's still a lot of SBA, but it used to be this amount plus amount, and with 1/3 of the CS. So, there was "always a runner on 2nd" it seemed.

So, using these reality based stats and AI is likely to hurt my offense more than it's going to help my pitching, but it should be a more realistic experience. Before the bats seemed a little nerfed, needed to tweak the baserunning and defense a bit, but this should play realistically, as intended from the onset.

Minnesota eclipses Vancouver in the standings, going 15-11 in July as Vancouver produced a 14-13 record in the month.

Quote:
San Diego continues to be a force, widening their lead with a 16-11 July, as LA falters a bit at 12-14.

Quote:
Just like last season, StL falls from 1st place in July ... leading to a collapse in the second half. Time will tell if history repeats itself in 2026. Wisconsin 19-8 in July pulls ahead of the falling Shires (10-16).

Quote:
Monterrey and Texas continue to battle it out as Monterrey regains the top spot going 18-7 in July, while Texas went 17-8.
