Another one of the Mets better catchers.

Marquis Grissom
This guy was one of the better lead-off hitters in the game.

Probably the last guy to wear #8, which for them was often a catcher number including several Hall of Famers, for the Mets in anger: Desi Relaford. That was in ’01 – no Met player has worn Gary Carter’s old number since then.

The Flyin Hawaiian Shane Victorino and Juan Samuel.
Watching Samuel run out a triple gave me goosebumps. 72 steals as a rookie.

After his surgery, Bo Jackson signed with the White Sox and wore No. 8 - that was my sophomore year of high school, and that season I wore No. 8 as well. It became my number for the rest of my career

Can't see his number, but yes it's #8 for the Boston Red Sox, Capt Carl Yastrzemski

Funny, just a few days ago I noticed that it's not "Carl Yastremski" but "Carl Yastrzemski"

I was about to report an error to the developers and decided to double check via google

Gary Carter.
Wanted to wear a Mets cap in the HOF.
If you were running down the 3rd base line and Gary was waiting for you at the plate...it was your funeral!

Willie "Pops" Stargell
So well loved and he was a monster at the plate.

Bo Jackson! Thanks for taking me back. Most impressive two-sport athete I ever saw. And it all ended too soon.

Couldn’t decide today, so I’ll just post two Mets: Kevin Mitchell, probably actually getting the second hit in The Bottom of the Tenth here, from the 1986 Mets, and Hubie Brooks, who didn’t take a good picture in which his number was also visible during his Mets tenure, and was included in the Expos-bound grab bag that landed Gary Carter for the Mets after the ’84 season.

Maikel Franco and Vince DiMaggio. Franco just signed with the Orioles.
Vince played 1 full season for Phils in 1945. Also hit 4 Grand Slams that year tying the record for slams in a season. Then basically, was finished.

and " Steady Eddie"
Ed Kranepool, a guy who was never within twenty exits on the freeway of the triple crown in any season he played
