Update 4/17
Lineups and depth charts complete for all teams Ratings for amateurs about half done, hope to wrap up today Checked to make sure no pitchers had position ratings or vice versa If all goes well and I get the loyalty/fan interest/mkt size numbers in tonight I will run a test sim. If not, definitely tomorrow. Regardless, the release will be this weekend. GH |

As I've said, there's nothing in the set that would cause a crash like that. Any players created are just edited versions of guys generated by the game, which means if it didn't happen with fictional leagues or whatever, it wouldn't happen with the set. Lots of people have said they've simmed lots of years with no issues, myself included.

Three quick questions and a suggestion...
1) This set will have accurate DL times as per the start of the season, right? 2) What day does the season start in this set? (25th, 26th) 3) When does your weekend start?! Suggestion: Maybe you could send the rosters out to a few people to do test sims with them also... can't have too many people testing them... or maybe you're doing that already... |

DL times will be accurate, and the season starts as of when it was originally going to with the Japan series (26th I guess?).
I actually work a half day tomorrow unfortunately. I was actually planning on sending the rosters to those who had made donations, but I don't know if there's time to do that, hear back from everyone, etc. I'm testing pretty much on my own right now, though if I get done what I want to tonight, I may send those guys the file. A little bonus for their generosity. GH |

so is the league still setup to play the games in japan? Did you include that stadium? Or are you going with the realism and use the actual dates played...Also are you including the park in P. Rico for the expos?
cant wait ![]() -matt

I had included Hiram Bithorn Stadiun since v 1.1. I didn't do the Japan stadium, but I can if people want me to. Easy enough. I suppose I could reschedule the games as is real too. Easy enough to do. I'll think about that.

I am now in the process of gathering all of my data. Let me know what numbers you want to see. I am also now simming several seasons into the future to see how these numbers pan out in the long run. My initial guess is that OOTP will just adjust them to what is normal in the game.
As for 2002 attendance figures, they are available at baseball-reference.com or simply start a new league in OOTP using TotalMinors and look at the league finances report. Those are the numbers I was shooting for with the exception of Anaheim, Cincinnati, Minnesota, Montreal and Oakland. When it comes to the financial numbers produced by these fan interest numbers, I honestly never looked at them. I initially set each teams' ticket price to $10 and let the computer control each throughout all the seasons I simulated. The computer will adjust ticket prices as it sees fit and so the attendance revenue will vary. I also figured that the financial aspect of the game is so far from reality that it didn't really matter. If everyone would like to know these numbers, I would be glad to sim the 2003 season 5-10 more times to get an average of these. Let me know what everyone thinks.

After thinking about it I'm going to wipe out the Japan games and move the games to Oakland as really happened. It reflects the season and besides, MLB should NOT start in Japan anyway

bump.
What happened to the CSV updates during the season? The last note I see and the rosterdevelopment page show the file updated on 4/29. Just wondering if there's something more recent. Also I am having problems importing all of the TotalMinors file into BOSI after I have converted the league files into csv's. Any ideas? |

CSV Updates
Thoreau,
The CSV update idea ended up being a theory that really wouldn't have worked too well in practice. Because the game alters ratings so regularly, especially for younger players, any time a csv was imported you basically would lose any growth/changes in the players during the course of the season up until that point. I was only thinking of it fixing changes and improving some ratings from my initial ones, but I wasn't thinking about the player development that would have already taken place in guys seasons. Basically, it was an idea I had that sounded good in theory but in practice probably would have just served to irritate people when their former 3 star prospect who went on a tear during the first two months of the season will a strikeout/hits allowed talent boost gets bumped back down to just an average guy. ahhhh GREAT point.
And thanks for making the database. You can listen to all these screwballs whine about their bench players for not having 5 stars, but for you to put all these players and take the time is outstanding. If they want players like John VanderWal to hit 57 homers in a season "cause he's good" then let them change it. You've done enough! |
