He's still a 5 tool player! Owner told me to go out a sign a top player, so I did just that.

About two weeks, in the OOTP world, after I boasted about the Dodgers awesome bullpen, it took a big hit.
Juan Mestre, a free agent out of Mexico who signed with L.A. before the 2019 season, the Cardinals were second in the bidding, was lost for the season with a damaged elbow ligament. He was 2-0, with 14 saves and a 0.98 ERA at the time of the injury. In 2019, he was 4-2 with 51 saves and 1.28 ERA as he led the Dodgers to a World Series title. But I think with -- Liam Hernandez, Carter Capps, Justin Wilson, David Robertson, Kenley Jansen, Andrew Miller and Zach Britton (That's not an All-Star team it is their bullpen) -- still on board. I think they will be OK. As for my Cardinals, I'm in a bit of tailspin having gone 3-13 dating back to the Dodgers series and into second place, 1.5 games behind the Cubs. Marcell Ozuna and Nolan Arenado's batting averages have plummeted from over .320 to .256 and .250, respectively. Bryce Harper is the only player hitting with an regularity, and he has dropped from over .340 to .323. As a team, I am hitting .236 (13th) and rank 11th in runs scored with 204. This following an offseason, where I let John Mabry walk and hired former Boston Red Sox hitting coach Tim Hyers. Hyers was ranked as a good hitting coach at the time of the signing and was great when the team was tearing the cover off the ball for the first month and a half. But his rating is down to good. I would hate to see it drop lower. |

There always seems to be an AI team that constructs an all-star bullpen.

That has always been my mark as a GM in OOTP. I strive to have the best bullpen in the league and I think it's cool to see teams do that as well. In my OOTP world, it's typically Houston who spends money on good relievers. |

Lindor's rating at SS went down to an 8/10.
![]() That's one thing that bugs me with OOTP. Players seem to gain/lose ratings without justification. I understand players age and what not, but I can have a player with 40 home runs all of a sudden go from a 9/10 power to an 8/10. It's like the ratings change without any regard to a players current stats. The more I think about it though.. maybe that has something to do with the player evaluation settings or something? |

I have been traveling for about 10 days. I returned home today and fired up the game. It is one day before the trade deadline and I noticed that the Angels had set their focus to rebuilding.
The Angels will take Tommy Pham and Luke Weaver for Mike Trout. Wow, I hate to disrupt my chemistry at 30 games over .500 but... |

I just played past the trade deadline to avoid the temptation. I do have a backup though.

He is signed through 2020, so I have to wait two more years in my league.

Searching for a new manager is so tedious.

I found one. My manager retired after only 4 seasons so I was lazy and hired a guy who hit the pitcher 8th.. yuck!
Anyway I was more thorough this time and found a better fit. It's just a chore having to look at each manager individually - sample lineups/influence/strategy. Poor guy I fired only managed 40 games. Good thing he was only getting $220,00 a year.

I finally turned trading to "hard". Not that I'm tearing it up every year.. I'm 13 games behind the Cubs this year, but on "average" it just seems to me like teams are willing to give up star players a little too easily.
Are you guys on the defaults or have you changed to hard or very hard? |

Interesting arrticle about the current team...
https://www.vivaelbirdos.com/2018/7/...-shouldnt-sell The Cardinals Shouldn't Sell It's not for the reason you think. TLDR version: They have a bunch of average players that won't bring an impact prospect back in trade anyway, so why bother. |

I'm still in favor of trading Gyorko, Holland, Fowler, Norris and firing Matheny regardless what we get back. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
