I tell you what, I have a ton of respect for Anibal Sanchez. First, the whole volunteering to go to the minors to try and get his groove back, was very cool. Second, he battles. He gave up 2 bombs in the first inning yesterday, but kept plugging. Gave up another bomb, but kept plugging. He gave them 6 innings in a game that ended up going 11. He is a pro.

Got a kick out of Gibson during yesterdays game. You could tell he's getting sick of the Tigers pitching approach this season and wants to see the pitchers go after hitters. Don't know how many times I heard him reference "nibbling" and the need to stop doing it. He is so right. Not sure if this is a pitching coach issue, but watching Verlander go out to the mound this year and repeatedly have 100 pitches or there abouts by the 4th or 5th inning is ridiculous.

Heard Avila interviewed today on Mad Dog's show. He was asked flat out if the Cubs called him on Verlander. In fairness he wouldn't address specific players. Also mentioned there was interest in Fullmer but the club has no intention of trading him-unless they get an offer they can't refuse.

He was also asked if he's OK with Ausmus. Gave the obligatory "players are playing hard". Kinda skated around that question faster than Conner McGretzky...

The return on Fulmer would have to be beyond belief to trade him. He has potential to be one of the league's best pitchers. I guess if someone is willing to make that beyond-belief trade for him, then go for it. But I'd sure like to see him stick around as long as the Tigers can afford him.

Yikes. I hope that I am missing something on those three infielders they got for J.D. Looks like Lugo (D-Backs fourth rated prospect) and a few bags of balls.

Interesting piece in the Detroit News giving a perspective on why Tigers weren't able to get a huge haul for JD.

Teams just aren't interested in giving up a lot for a 2 month rental player as much as they used to be.

My take: Lugo should be the everyday 3B in 2019. Move Nick to 1st, Miggy to DH. He has decent power, a nice glove....but no eye.

Alcantara to me sounds like a great glove utility guy. Some think he can hang everyday on his defense alone, but it doesn't sound like he'll ever hit. Screams utility infielder (not a bad thing).

King is young but fast. Too early to get a great feel on him but again, he has a shot based on his speed.

We could have done better, but we could have done far worse as well.

That game last night was just plain ugly. It's going to be a battle till the end to see if the Tigers can finish ahead of the White Sox.

Adding a young SS and another 3B to a team that is fairly set at those positions and just got a group of young infielders in another deal while depleating a bad bull pen. What is going on here? Someone help me :-)

I think they been shopping the SS and 2nd baseman around and they wanted young backups and plus both them players NOT going to be around after a year or 2. I like this idea. Would have done the same in the game too if I know im dumping them off

They are revocable waivers, not irrevocable. This is pretty common in August when teams are looking for trades. Doesn't necessarily mean that much. But you never know.

Castellanos the odd man out?

Check out this article from The Detroit News:

Castellanos’ days in Detroit, at 3B, could be numbered

I saw the video of Kinsler getting tossed last night for looking back to see if Hernandez was going to call the pitch a ball. Does anyone know what took place between Kinsler and Hernandez prior to that pitch or at bat? Something had to have taken place, Hernandez' skin isn't THAT thin.
