Despite the lop-sided score as Toronto beat Kansas City 8-2, six of those runs came in the 12th inning. Basically, the Royals' tired bullpen was even more tired than the Blue Jays' one.

John Howell went 4 for 6 and Al Woods extended his hit streak to 17 games... but not until the 12th!

Gary Gilliand had a strong debut, but his stamina is in question as he was showing signs of fatigue in the 4th.

WP - Tom Niedenfuer (3-0)
LP - Bill Campbell (4-1)

Record - 60-62

Ex-Jay Dave Kingman hit his 300th homer.

Kingman went to the Mets in the deal that brought Toronto George Brett and Phil Garner.

Roger Erickson got within one out of a shut out but a Paul Molitor solo homer couldn't stop the Toronto 3-1 win over Texas.

Yesterday the Blue Jays beat the Royals 13-2. How do you top that? Beating them 14-1.

Despite getting 14 runs, the Jays didn't hit a single home run. Al Woods led the attack, going 3 for 3 with 4 RBI and a walk. Every starter got at least one hit. Woods and Gary Gaetti each got three.

WP - Ed Whitson (13-11)
LP - Mike LaCoss (8-11)

Record - 67-63

Al Woods was hurt in the game, but we have to wait for a full diagnosis.

George Brett won the AL Player of the Week award! He hit .480 with a pair of dingers and 12 RBI!

Mike Schmidt (Reds) won for the NL.

Toronto has risen to #4 on the Weekly Power Rankings!

(They are still 17 games behind the dominant Tigers in the AL East.)

The Jays won their sixth in a row, beating the Rangers 8-4, but it is the injuries that are a real concern.

With Al Woods already awaiting diagnosis, Keith Hernandez sprained his ankle badly and will miss the rest of the season and Bobby Castillo, in his first major league appearance of the year, also was called away to visit the trainer.

On a positive note, Gustavo Pena has now hit in 15 straight games.

WP - Dave Stieb (10-7)
LP - Nolan Ryan (13-11)

Record - 71-63
