The twitter feed mentioned they'll be releasing beta news "soon." The latest timeline on an update on the release is a few weeks from now. So, we could know more about a potential beta in a few weeks and will likely know a release date.

Longest two weeks ever.

Question regarding european leagues. As you probably know every euro club has it's own junior program. Will be possible to hire coaches and staff for junior section of your team ? That wasn't possible in EHM. Would be cool to have it in FHM. And if you hire coach who has good ratings in working with youngsters the better players you will get it from juniors.

When is a realistic release? Will it come out before OOTP14?

Only thing we have to go off of is the generic "early 2013" release window.

At first i was thinking end of february but I would say a realistic date would be March. That's my prediction.

Franchise hockey manager 2013

The will give us a release date when they are ready to do it. But every time someone makes a post to the developers it takes valuable time away from them to develop the game and work on the coding of the game. So if we want this game done then we need to limit our posts to the developers.

I've been awaiting this game very very anxiously, I am wondering if it might be better to wait to release this until August next year?

The additional wait will suck, I've been dying for this game to come out for months. However, thinking long term, I want this to be a success and have many many versions come out, and not crash and burn like EHM. Releasing just before the season will probably have better sales than released mid season. It will also allow time to perfect the game before release (so this one isn't rushed) and then the next one will have a full year to add improvements.

It may frustrate us here that have been waiting, but I don't many of us that are this dedicated here on this forum (I've been lurking for months and months) following this game will turn away from a 4-5 month delay, but releasing the game when the hype about the upcoming NHL season in full swing might help sales.

Anyways, whenever it is released I will be buying it ASAP. I have been desperately looking for a hockey sim game since EHM was canned, I am beyond excited.

With all due respect, they are running a business here and they choose to put a forum up. Whether or not they choose to answer, look, post or ignore these forums is part of the business plan, we'd hope. If answering a few post a week is some massive drain on their abilities then there are more serious problems to worry about.

So please, enough with the walking on eggshells routine. They are big boys and have done this before...if they answer great, if not then expect another post in the forum that they provide for us to post in...

Except that no matter what they post. More (or the same) people will ask more questions, or ask again, and again about the release date. The "are we there yet" posts are as annoying as no word from the developers.

Really all the "when is it coming", "they should release on this or that date" is pointless. It'll be here when they think it's ready. Then they'll release updates with new features and fixes. That's the way OOTP has run for years.

"That's the way OOTP has run for years."

So you are obviously annoyed by this situation yet the status quo is what you are happy with; "That's the way OOTP has run for years."

Don't you think that the quantity of "Are we there yet" questions would be reduced if there was a banner or note or quick post for all to see stating something? That could reduce the questions by half and you would be happier...

I don't understand your stance...more info is never a bad thing. Lack of info is and it is effecting you so...

BTW, I'm fine with the current "1st quarter" line although I don't even know if that's official or not...

As far as I know "early 2013" is official without further specification. We also know that in a couple of weeks more info will be announced.

More info is always better, yes. But only if there is any reliable info to release. If for example Sebastian has some goals in mind but doesn't know when he is able to reach them then it's natural that he doesn't really want to announce any date. We just have to be patient and wait for any new information (and for the game release). That's my opinion.

Yes they are, we see them every year with OOTP followed by the rooster complaint when the game is release. But it's a funny yearly tradition and sometimes we blow some steam on the back of those "are we there yet?" useless posters... even if the "please be nice with the stupid newbie" politic is highly annoying and useless. Not that we don't like being nice, in fact the OOTP community is really a great one, but more often than not the people in those "are we there yet?" yearly thread are trolling more than anything else.

P.S : I talk about OOTP not FHM who is a new game, so many members in that sub-forum are new to the OOTP history.

Who said I'm annnoyed? Unless you mean at the people posting useless "are we there yet" posts?

OOTP is a small operation. They don't have a whole marketing team, etc to take care of anxious forum posters while the developers work.

The same anxious forum posters who will be screaming as though someone stole their candy if the developers them miss a random date thrown out there to shut people up in the first place.

Early 2013 sounds like a generic timeframe they can hit.

So, will the manual way of doing a dispersal draft that works in OOTP be a viable option in FHM?

Is there any plan of including a dispersal draft in future versions? I'd love to be able to cut the league down to about 20 or 24 teams to concentrate skilled players on fewer teams.

As seen on twitter ::

"Updated release news to come in a couple weeks. Thanks."

Deja-vu... =/ The timing stinks. Hockey's back on (for us NHL Fans) so the itch is real strong right now... in a few months, I might have other things to focus on (digging the yard out of Winter, etc).. so it's a bummer to see it constantly deferred.

I get that deadlines and announcement dates are dangerous things to set.. but you'd think they'd be a bit better at it by now. Nothing more, nothing less.

You should realize that only a few people (three, I think) work on the game. It's not comparable to big studios at all. And they don't want to release an incomplete and buggy game - they can't risk declination from fans and customers.

I know it's not ideal, I can't wait for the game myself. But we have to realize that patience is a must here.

Release and Initial features

So i have played since ootp 10, played EHM and all the knock off basketball football games alike.
The list of features and historic mode are just what i was dreaming for in a hockey sim. Love my T.O blue jays but just cannot stay attached to baseball for a long period of time.
My main question is for the first quarter release now that a January and early February release are out of the question. Should it just go into a free open Beta to allow players to tweak and allow the developers to get a better idea on how the development should continue.
Usually i would close my mouth and just wait for this but im just overall concerned how the stat system that is featured in OOTP could be integrated into FHM.

Judging by your log-in name, I will venture to say that your excitement regarding the pending release is because you will, at last, have a chance to be in charge of the Ducks?

Cheers.
