I finally finished setting up my fictional Summer League and have spent a lot of time this weekend playing around with it.
I simmed two years before taking over a team. I like OOTP11 a lot. I like being able to make baserunning decisions, and I like the fact that sometimes, sending the runner is going to get him thrown out. I've seen some PbP text that I've never seen before in OOTP. I've also seen some trade-negotiation text that makes the game feel more alive. For example, an opposing manager told me he refused to trade prospects for "an ageing, overpaid veteran." I've seen many more passed balls, wild pitches and and errors than in previous versions, but my catcher may actually be the problem. I LOVE the new player comparison feature. I love the new baseball card feature, but would like to see cards include the player's position and maybe place of birth, as well as stats for the last couple of years. The new interface is great! When I first saw the screenshots I had my reservations, but now what I look forward to doing is finishing the seasons of my OOTP10 leagues and transferring them. I'm very happy with OOTP11. It will take a while to fully explore the game, but I will have a lot of fun doing so.

Great Game!!!!! The new interface is nice, I am trying to find all of the new looks it gives and find out where things are at.
The PBP is second to none!!!!! It is as good as any that is out there for Baseball. I am still not too sure about the face gen and baseball cards. Both are nice but I am unsure how I am going to use them. The historicals are also improved; they seem more realistic now. Thanks guys for a great game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! John |

The most significant thing to me is that OOTP11 just FEELS like baseball.
It's Sunday night, and I really don't want to turn the computer off and go to bed. My team, the Cleveland Spartans, just finished an amazing game against one of our rivals, the Havana Tigres. We are in second place in the Summer League Northeast Division, and they are in first in the SL Southeast Division. It was a real pitcher's duel, their number 1 starter against our number 1. Their guy went for 7 innings and ours went for 8. Lots of strikeouts. The game remained scoreless through 12 innings. In the top of the 13th, one of our guys doubled. I swear, the Havana crowd actually became quiet. The cheering dwindled to almost nothing. Our next batter singled, but our guy on second held at third. Then, the Havana reliever threw a wild pitch, and our man scampered home. In the bottom of the 13th inning, I sent in our closer and he sat down the top of the Havana batting order one, two, three. I saved the game as a replay. Cleveland 1 Havana 0 Many thanks to Markus and the OOTP11 beta testers for giving me a reason to smile as I begin another awful, depressing work week.

The game's so good I lagged behind on my work-from-home duties and put my real players mod for Draft Day Sports College Basketball on hold...
Regarding OOTP 11 itself, I'm very pleased with the endless possibilities I have for creating a baseball universe, or rewriting baseball history. I agree with Antonin. This does feel like baseball! Great job, Markus and Andreas! ![]() |

Very happy with 11! Slick, and it seems more logical and less random than the previous versions.
If you guys want to really see OOTP11 fly, and get rid of the annoying Vista/7 headaches, go with Linux. I'm running OOTP 11 with Ubuntu and it just blows away 9 and 10 in Windows. |

I decided to play out a game for the first time in this version, I have to say, it's tremendously better than in 10. It's faster, and the play-by-play is better written.
And one part drew a startled laugh outta me - One of my players had a prank pulled on him - his teammates put a live skunk in his locker! It was five minutes before I could stop laughing enough to resume play. Hilarious! ![]() I played a few more games, and now, I'm definitely hooked on playing them out. The ecstasy of winning, the bitter sighs of defeat, the scowling at a pitcher who just gave up a four-bagger, fighting the impulse to stick him in single-A for the rest of his career (and beyond!)... And then there's the regrets you have over pulling a hit-and-run with a crappy batter at the plate that cost you a victory, thinking you should have pinch-hit for him... This game rocks. It's almost as fun as being AT a game! ![]() ![]() |

Initial Impressions...
1.) I really like mass select 2.) I wish mass select was a little more "sophisticated" 3.) Maybe it's a combination of my machine and Windows 7, but I'm noticing OOTP "Not Responding" quite a bit, and then snapping back into gear. It does this a lot. 4.) Haven't had an opportunity to test any games, but I really like the ability to create ratings by statistics, very helpful. 5.) Haven't had an opportunity to play with new draft signee features. 6.) Love the fact that a pre-loaded university/school database is available...saves lots of time and ultimately memory by not using feeders, which are majorly flawed, and with this new feature, worthless. Suggestions: 1.) Polish mass select more (apply it to Personnel screens) 2.) Is it possible to create a calculator for fielding ratings similar to the one with hitting/pitching ratings using stats? 3.) Independent leagues...losing battle. |
