Everyone keeps saying $5 (again actually $6), but it may very well be $20. I was just commenting that it was not good business, and I stand 100% behind that statement. I am a loyal ootp'er and have bought every ootp version addon and patch since ootp 2, and TBCB as well as ITPB, and will probably continue to do so, but when I see something I don't care for a speak my peice.

You also got months of use out of 07. You'd have to have taken one to many shots to the head to not realize this.

Conversely, 19.99 Euros minus 20% tax would equal 16.66 Euros. Converted to US dollars that equals $24.41 US. There's a disconnect between the prices charged and the prices when converted. I think that's what redsoxford was getting at. It seems the online conversion of prices is not reflecting the recent drop in the value of the US dollar against other currencies. As a Canadian, I'm quite familiar with this since the rise of the Canadian dollar against the U.S. has caused similiar issues. Prices for American products in CDN dollars are often higher than they ought to be based on current exchange rates. The prices are sometimes 25% or more higher even though the US and CDN dollars are at parity. It seems the exhange rates from years ago are still being (incorrectly) applied... |

The price hasn't been fixed yet for the upgrade from 2007, something to do with licensing more then likely. The post said wait a few days for clarification.

![]() That way 2007 and v8 players end up with exactly the same game and 2007 users won't get that cheated feeling (more ).Back to reality and facts.. I also paid full price for 2007 but guess what I will have gotten a years use from my version before v9 comes out. Those buying the game now will get 3-4 months. In previous years, at least before joining SI, OOTP was discounted late in the year to $19.99. Were we getting screwed back then too since the new buyers were getting the game cheaper than us? So, really this years discount is no different than previous ones except for that huge fix list that really isn't worth getting excited about and the new features that are available for free, for the most part, to those that want them. I think most people are reasonable enough to realize this is a unique situation with the companies splitting and OOTP Dev is doing it's best to make it as right as it can. I was being sarcastic at the beginning of this post but in reality Markus would have been better off to NOT put in the fixes and avoid the whining it was bound to cause. |

I think the folks at OOTP have made a very savvy and fair business proposal. One that allows all of us to make a reasonable buying decision, based entirely on our own needs. In defense of Markus et al, we are not talking about Microsoft or Apple or Sega here. None of these guys is getting rich on this and I am willing to support their efforts. You are entitled to your opinion, but arrogant about your knowledge of their business needs.

Need to Purchase a couple of Copies!
I'm new to this baseball sim. Where do you buy OOTP8? I cannot find a link anywhere to but it for $20 or any price for that matter. Thanks for any help that you can give me. All I can find is OOTPB 2007. I would rather support the group that now owns it.

Are any of the budget issues fixed? You know, where you can't spend the money that you are allowed to, or the free cuts? I haven't seen Markus or anyone in the tech support forum, so I suppose he wants us to pay him money to have some rosters and little tweaks?
It would be nice if this "upgrade" actually fixed bugs. I didn't go through all 12 pages to be honest, but from his original post it would seem as though the bugs he fixed weren't really that big...

This is really my peave with this game and the industry in particular. There was some "final" patch released to work on a new game. There were still bugs, still old ones not fixed and new ones being reported. So why can't the developed take a few days off from working on the new release to fix the newly reported issue? I guess so he can put out this intermediate release and get more $$? This isn't only for Markus, but seems to be the standard. Once the new game starts getting worked on, all the support for the older ones go to 0.

Now we're going to go from "I'm not paying for bug fixes!" to "Why weren't there more bug fixes?"

When you have a small dev team, as has been said before, it is hard to work on two games at once. I'm not speaking for OOTP Dev., but this is just my observation. In this buisness, with a small team, there has to be a time where you say it's time to stop working on the old game and work on the new game. Because, in the end, these guys need paychecks. It may not be a popular answer, but it seems that it is the truth.

I'm all about supporting a great developer like Markus, but I'm not going to pay more money when I know any existing bugs are likely to go unfixed because he's working on something new that he wants to charge $35+.
