Well, it seems that the file was done and being uploaded and perhaps APujols' power went out because he disappeared and there were storms in his area?

If you want to help me with service times send APujols a PM

This thread is the perfect example of why this is being called the "Entitlement Age" and that people in their 20s are being called the "Entitlement Generation"

I am probably going to get majorly flamed for this...but what the heck....
First let me say that there is no one in the OOTP Community more appreciative of the work that goes on in making these roster sets than I am. The hard work these guys put in is tremendous, and they are doing it on their own time and at no cost. That brings me to my point. I for one would rather pay a little more for the game and have the real rosters included in the game. An Xbox 360 game with real rosters is only 49.99 and trust me, in my opinion, OOTP 2007 is well worth that amount. It just seems to me that it would calm a lot of the "disgruntled" folks in regards to not having current rosters at release. I have no idea what it would cost to get rosters included, probably more than the makers of the game can handle, but it was just a thought.
Again, I will be one of the first to download this roster set and one of the MOST appreciative of the work. Hope this makes sense.

Read the thread. There's plenty of "updates". The file was done, he was uploading when a storm hit. He decided to shut down rather than risk having his PC get zapped.

I know there are a bunch of updates, just nothing from him since last night. I understand him not wanting to risk that but I honestly wish he woulda released a beta on the weekend. Even if its something raw, I'd be willing to work with it to have it ready for my online league.

I understand where your coming from. However if he releases the game with real rosters he'll run into MLBPA licensing issues. What used to happen back in the older OOTP days, there was a seperate roster file included when the game was ready. What I think needs to be done is have someone specifically for the rosters. Give them the game early, have them work on a set and have it ready for release of the game as a seperate download.

It's unbelievable how whiny people can be. Free files being done by someone on their own time. What I don't understand is why ANYone would announce they're doing anything until it's already uploaded. The ungrateful populace should be kept in the dark.

I love how there are always a few who "would have done it themselves" except that someone else was. And that's their justification for complaining.

How DARE APujols protect his computer during a thinderstorm. People are waiting, they're entitled.

The problem is that many people buy the game only wanting to use "real rosters". When they are promised there are going to be some on release, then again told there will be some on a specific day and neither happen they are going to be upset/restless, whatever. APujols said they were going to be out Sunday, so the thunderstorm doesn't really come into play when it comes to making the release date that he set. I'm not sure why people expect users not to be upset when they are told they are going to have something, possibly plan around that and then don't get it. Sure, I appreciate these guys for doing the rosters, it is a big project, but I don't appreciate them stringing us along and promising releases that don't happen.

Because APujols work is not part of the release. It's a personal project done by an unpaid volunteer. If OOTP promised rosters and didn't deliver, that's different, you paid for that game. In this case people are complaining about not having OD rosters 5-6 before opening day.

The only way to ensure rosters will be completed on your desired schedule is to do them yourself. That's all it comes down to.

Be disappointed. That's fine. It's understandable. However, don't attack someone for not getting them out when promised. Real life happens. Hell, I've had to put off some actual work stuff due to real life circumstances, and that's my career! I can't tell you how far off my radar something like "finishing real world rosters for people I don't know for a non-existent salary" would be.

The only reason I am restless is because the same thing happened last year. It took almost 3-4 weeks to get a release from Cubby.

Just curious why this is a sticky thread in this forum?

Should be moved to the mods forum.

IMHO.

I agree with this. As someone who went through a decade promising things and missing deadlines, I've learned to not make promises. Oddly, that can upset the people depending upon me even more.

Actually, I think some effort was made in this area. I seem to recall Raidergoo trying to placate posters by mentioning that 'something is in the works for rosters', but until (IIRC) late Friday no mention was made of a goal completion date. I guess it was thought by that time that 'there is no way we can blow it now'.

Well, life happens, and believe me, there's ALWAYS enough time left to blow it.

I understand. I'm restless, too. I can't wait for the league to start, but I think there's other stuff we can do in the meantime. We all have our assigned teams, so what's stopping us from doing stories or blogs to pass the time?

It's about time Dice K gets pushed off the front page, anyway.

But he said he was going to put them out and then didn't. I am not saying that people have any legitimate beef with OOTP or whatever but this has become a recurring theme for the users around here and I'm not sure why you don't expect them to be frustrated by that a bit. I mean, if the rosters aren't going to be released at a certain time don't tell a bunch of people they will be. That is the problem, not the fact that there aren't any rosters yet.

I'm guessing because so many posters were asking, "When will the rosters be released?" and this section gets much more traffic. But, I agree with you.

When none of the usual suspects who make rosters weren't vocal during beta, people started freaking out. That's why this happens.
