Not to get ahead of myself (Oh wait, WE'RE THE CHAMPIONS AND WE CAN TALK ABOUT PLAYOFFS NOW! :bananas
![]() Harden threw 75 pitches last night, and seems totally fine. Does anybody else want to see him given one more day of rest and then start game 1 of the playoffs? As it is now, he's scheduled to start the last game of the season against the Thousand Oaks Angels. Honestly, I'd probably throw up if something bad were to happen and we lost him for the postseason. IMHO: Harden Loaiza Haren Zito Harden For a 5 game series would be our absolute best chance at winning. Use Blanton or Sarloos in long relief of Harden if he happens to struggle (which he hasn't yet.) Of course, Zito will be the one to get 2 starts in a 5 game series instead, even though he's been one of the worst starters on the team in the 2nd half.

Well if he pitches the final game of the season as he's scheduled to - on a pitch count of 90 - you would figure that he'll be ready to go full strength in the playoffs. I wouldn't mind one more tuneup for him.
Of course, simple counting on my fingers shows that he would be available for Game 3 (10/6 - my b-day!!), and not have to wait until Game 4 like we had originally talked about. If we're down 2-0 at that point (or up 2-0!) there's no guy I'd rather give the ball to. That said, I have faith in Zito in big games. Look what he did against the Angels on Friday. He always seems to come through on the big stage. |

![]() Damn, so the A's ruined your birthday in '02 and '03 too, just like me! I was at the '02 game. That experience is actually what inspired my username. The next day I wrote a column for our local newspaper and the first line was, "Denny Hocking may as well have twisted the knife that was already protruding from my green and gold heart..." |

Another odd mirrf fact is that I got married on 10/26/2002, which is the day when the Giants blew game 6. -Which is fine for me, I don't care for them and I hate Barry. But, it made for wierd conversation in the bar area. |

For those still paying attention to A's baseball this week, tonight's lineup is something we won't hopefully see ever again (not that it's a bad lineup under the circumstances):
Bocachica CF Scutaro 2B Kielty RF Swisher LF Johnson 1B Melhuse C Jimenez SS Brown DH Perez 3B Believe it or not, I actually have a problem with one thing here: Jimenez at short instead of Scutaro makes no sense. Oh, and Windsor is pitching in place of Zito to make this the Sacramento River Cats vs. Seattle Mariners. |

I decided not to go to that game. With the playoffs locked up, I figured I'd see a lot of non-regular players. I was right, but I missed a good game.

You should at least go sometime this weekend and give the Mariner Moose a big hug.

I didn't watch the game. But my stomach jumped when I saw in the box score that Scutaro replaced Bradley and played the outfield. Thank goodness it was just Milton arguing balls and strikes.
