Brown (somehow rated a 7 despite a 27-62-13 RL record) has struggled to get to the main division. At one point KO was 9-0, since then he has lost 5 straight bouts including his loss today to Italian Joe Gans (5-1) by KO7.

**** Update ****

In case anyone was wondering about the above bouts and missed the post from a while back. I decided to use a real calender from the year I'm in (1912 in this case) and I only have cards on Friday and Saturday nights for now (eventually I'll add Wednesday's)

So for April 1912 there are only 4 Friday's and 4 Saturday's so there will be 8 fight cards for a total of 48 fights. Since there are 132 fight's scheduled (non TC fights) the other 84 are scheduled 4-6 at a time and ran through the auto-scheduler.

So for those results you'd have to check the monthly fights I post. But I thought this month I'd start tossing out anything I find interesting while recording the fights.

Jimmy Clabby continues to be an embarrassment to everyone ever associated with him as he loses by TKO4 to Al Neill (12-11-4) to drop his record to 9-12-8. Possibly the worst 7 rated fighter in the LBA.

When his family was reached for a comment his mom said "Jimmy is dead to us"

Billy Barrett (17-12-8) waited a long time for his first knockdown and he got it today when he KO'd Whitey Chadwick (13-10-1) in the first round.

Barrett had been knocked down 19 times over his career but this was the first time he had dropped someone.

Regional titles/co main events

MW - Al McCoy (2/1) (16-0) (pre) had to come from behind to stop Joe Chip (17-2) (14/24) (pre) scoring a TKO12 for his first defense of the MW USBA title.

Chip got off to a good start winning 4 of the first 6 rounds. The 4th and the 7th were too close to call. They split the 8th and the 9th then McCoy took over in the 10th. He cut Chip badly over the left eye early in the round which startled Chip and McCoy took advantage and dropped him. The cut was reopened badly in the 11th and again in the 12th which led to the stoppage. McCoy was down 104-105 on all the cards. I had it 105-105.

WW - Kyle Whitney (5/4) (20-6-5) controlled the fight and scored a late knockdown to cruise to a UD12 over Bartley Connolly (18/19) (20-5-2) to defend his USBA WW title.

Whitney dominated the fight winning most of the rounds. There were no cuts but Whitney dropped Connolly in the 11th. I had it118-111, the official judges saw it 118-112/118-111/119-110.

Other fights

FW - The IBF FW title tourney kicked off with Jimmy Briggs (5/3) (19-12-6) scoring a TKO7 over Billy Snailham (10/13) (21-7). Snailham was cut badly over the left eye in the first and the same eye was recut and swollen shut when the ref stopped it in the 7th. I had it 58-57 Briggs at the stoppage. Snailham's second loss to Briggs.

BW - Undefeated Eddie Campi (UR) (12-0) (pre) survived a major scare to win a UD10 over Jack Lyman (18/24) (14-8-1) (pre) and stay undefeated. Campi was down twice in this fight once in the fourth and again in the 5th. He rallied to drop Lyman in the 7th. I had it 96-92 as did two of the judges, the other had it 95-93.

HW - John Dwyer (48/36) (31-12-1) UD10 Ed Dunkhorst (38/56) (27-18-3)

LH - Bob Fitzsimmons (33/24) (39-5) TKO6 Tom Parks (31/41) (11-10-2) (parks at pre but moved to prime after the fight)

April 6, 1912

Main event

LH - Referee Jimmy Gardiner was lucky to get out of the ring alive after DQ'ing the champ Charles McCoy (CH/2) (34-10-3) in the 7th round without any warnings, just two cautions prior. Frank Girton (4/CH) (15-1) (pre) won the IBF LHW title despite losing every round. The commissioner of the LBA has ordered a rematch which will take place in July.

Girton had a cut lip and had been down once in the fight. McCoy hit him low to start the 7th and Gardiner DQ'd him. That set off a riot in the ring with several people getting injured but Gardiner escaped intact.

I had it 60-53 McCoy at the DQ.

Regional titles

WW - Terry Martin (9/7) (22-5-1) dismantled Holger Hansen (12/17) (16-8-2) in route to a TKO9 win to retain his EBU WW title. It was easy sailing the whole way for Martin. He swelled up Hansen's left eye from round 1 on and cut him over his right eye in the 4th. The eye got cut up some more and the ref stopped it in the 9th.

I had it 78-74 at the stoppage. It was Martin's first defense of the EBU title since winning it a year ago. Two major title bouts and a non-title bout in between.

BW - Harry Dally (34/23) (17-6-1) dominated the champ Young Hundreds (37/44) (11-3-2) (pre) to win the CBU BW title. Hundreds had defended it 3 times prior but Dally was to experienced and strong for him.

Hundreds was down in the 6th and 11th, and cut up over the left eye in the 10th. He showed a lot of heart finishing the fight. I had it 119-107 as did one official judge, the other two had it 119-105.

Other fights

MW - Georges Bernard (UR) (8-0) (pre) remained unbeaten with a UD8 over Jack Blake (UR) (6-2) (pre). Bernard controlled the fight and knocked down Blake in the 4th. I had it 80-73, the official judges saw it 80-72/79-73/79-73.

WW - Tom McAlpine (45/40) (18-5) UD10 Cy Flynn (71/71) (11-14-2) (McAlpine at pre)

Main Event

WW - Jack Britton (CH) (26-3-6) joined Sam Langford as the only two fighters in the LBA with over 1000 pp as he scored a TKO11 over Joe Gans (2/4) (36-6-3) to retain the IBF WW title. It was Britton's second defense.

Very close fight but a cut over the right eye of Gans in the 4th proved to be the difference. It was reopened 3 times and finally stopped the fight in the 11th. Gans had his left eye swelling shut and Britton had both of his eyes swelling at the stoppage. I had it 95-95 when the fight was stopped.

Regional title

FW - Benny Yanger (11/8) (24-3) survived an early knockdown and cut to defeat Tommy Warren (9/12) (15-1) (pre) by UD12 and win the vacant USBA FW title.

Yanger was down in the second and cut over his right eye in the 3rd. He rallied to take over the fight winning nearly every round after the 5th. I had it 115-112, the official judges had it 115-112/116-111/116-112.

Other fights

HW - Walter Altieri (118/87) (13-6-1) (pre) scored a KO5 to knock Joe Coyne (UR) (10-1) (pre) from the ranks of the unbeaten. Close fight until a right uppercut ended it in the 5th. I had it 38-38 at the stoppage.

MW - Dick O'Brien (club) (6-22-2) scored a MD8 over George Robinson (UR) (8-1) to end Robinson's unbeaten run. Close fight with both fighters getting cut over the right eye. O'Brien in the 2nd and Robinson in the 7th. I had it 77-76 for Robinson but the official judges saw it 78-76/77-77/77-76 for O'Brien.

Main Event

LW - Dave Holly (5/CH) (21-8-8) completely destroyed Frank Erne (CH/4) (23-9-2) for the second time in route to a KO15 to take the WBA LW title.

Erne took a savage beating this time. The fight was pretty even through 8 with both fighters showing some swelling around the right eye. Then the fireworks went off. Erne was down in the 9th and Holly was down in the 10th. Holly shook it off and dropped Erne in the 11th, 13th, 14th and for good in the 15th.

I had it 136-128 at the stoppage

Regional Title

FLY - Jimmy Wilde (UR) (11-0) (pre) overcame a shaky start to stop Jack Foy (11/11) (12-9-3) (pre) in the 9th round. Wilde was cut over the right eye in the 4th and it was reopened twice. The second time in the 7th and the doc took a long look at it. Wilde took that to heart and dropped Foy in the 8th and for good in the 9th.

I had it 78-73 at the stoppage.

Other fights

HW - Al Palzer (UR) (8-0) (pre) used two knockdowns to eke out a SD8 over Morris Grant (club) (18-22-5) (post). Grant was down in the 1st and the 5th and was booed loudly when one of the judges ruled it 76-74 in his favor. The other two judges had it 76-74 and 77-74. I had it 76-74.

LW - Billy Farren (UR) (8-0-1) (pre) skated to a UD8 over Mark Higgans (club) (4-12-3) (pre). Farren won the first 6 rounds and then coasted through the last two. I had it 78-74 as did two of the judges with the third scoring it 78-76.

Klaus go off to a slow start splitting the first 4 rounds before taking over and punishing Gavigan. Gavigan was cut over his left eye in the 5th and it was reopened every round until the ref stopped it in the 8th. I had it 68-65 at the stoppage.

Regional Title fight

LW - Mike Ward (53/43) (14-2-2) made short work of Harry Pidgeon (97/103) (16-5-2) (pre) with a KO3 for his second defense of the AABU LW title. Ward was cut under the right eye in the first, then dropped Pidgeon in the second and for good in the third. I had it 20-17 at the stoppage.

Other fights

HW - Joe Jeannette (16/10) (26-4) outboxed his way to an easy UD10 over John Sullivan (20/27) (40-10). No cuts or knockdowns as Jeannette stayed to the outside and barely got hit. I had it 99-91 as did one other judge, the other two had it 98-92.

LW - Patsy Kerrigan (UR) (7-0-2) (pre) cruised to an easy UD8 over pathetic Jack H. Lewis (UR) (1-7) (pre) to remain unbeaten. Lewis was cut over the left eye in the 3rd and on the lip in the 4th. I had it 79-74 as did two judges, the third had it 79-75.

Erne took a savage beating this time. The fight was pretty even through 8 with both fighters showing some swelling around the right eye. Then the fireworks went off. Erne was down in the 9th and Holly was down in the 10th. Holly shook it off and dropped Erne in the 11th, 13th, 14th and for good in the 15th. I had it 136-128 at the stoppage Regional Title FLY - Jimmy Wilde (UR) (11-0) (pre) overcame a shaky start to stop Jack Foy (11/11) (12-9-3) (pre) in the 9th round. Wilde was cut over the right eye in the 4th and it was reopened twice. The second time in the 7th and the doc took a long look at it. Wilde took that to heart and dropped Foy in the 8th and for good in the 9th. I had it 78-73 at the stoppage. Other fights HW - Al Palzer (UR) (8-0) (pre) used two knockdowns to eke out a SD8 over Morris Grant (club) (18-22-5) (post). Grant was down in the 1st and the 5th and was booed loudly when one of the judges ruled it 76-74 in his favor. The other two judges had it 76-74 and 77-74. I had it 76-74. LW - Billy Farren (UR) (8-0-1) (pre) skated to a UD8 over Mark Higgans (club) (4-12-3) (pre). Farren won the first 6 rounds and then coasted through the last two. I had it 78-74 as did two of the judges with the third scoring it 78-76. Klaus go off to a slow start splitting the first 4 rounds before taking over and punishing Gavigan. Gavigan was cut over his left eye in the 5th and it was reopened every round until the ref stopped it in the 8th. I had it 68-65 at the stoppage. Regional Title fight LW - Mike Ward (53/43) (14-2-2) made short work of Harry Pidgeon (97/103) (16-5-2) (pre) with a KO3 for his second defense of the AABU LW title. Ward was cut under the right eye in the first, then dropped Pidgeon in the second and for good in the third. I had it 20-17 at the stoppage. Other fights HW - Joe Jeannette (16/10) (26-4) outboxed his way to an easy UD10 over John Sullivan (20/27) (40-10). No cuts or knockdowns as Jeannette stayed to the outside and barely got hit. I had it 99-91 as did one other judge, the other two had it 98-92. LW - Patsy Kerrigan (UR) (7-0-2) (pre) cruised to an easy UD8 over pathetic Jack H. Lewis (UR) (1-7) (pre) to remain unbeaten. Lewis was cut over the left eye in the 3rd and on the lip in the 4th. I had it 79-74 as did two judges, the third had it 79-75.
